You'll find plenty of places to take advantage of the Tuscan sun at this romantic villa, set only a few minutes from historic Lucca. Of course, the private swimming pool is the biggest draw – make a splash in the crystal-clear water first-thing each morning, then paddle over to the Jacuzzi corner and relax in the bubbles with a cocktail in hand. Later on, lounge on either of the two balconies with a glass of local wine, then dig into an Italian feast on the patio as the stars come out. The design inside is as charming as can be – we're swooning over the subtle geometric wallpaper, wood-beamed ceilings and those classic terracotta floors. Split between two different villas, you'll have more than enough space to spread out – and contemporary comforts like rainfall showers and sleek kitchens will ensure every 21st-century whim is met. Location-wise, you're just ten minutes by car from Lucca – the Renaissance-era streets are perfect for a wander. A bit further away are Volterra, Montecarlo and Siena, making this an ideal spot to explore Tuscany's rolling countryside and postcard-worthy scenery.

Home truths

A free cot and high chair can be provided on request

This home is split across two separate buildings – both have living areas and kitchens, so this could be a good option for groups wanting their own space

The third bedroom has a double sofa bed, no windows and is located off one of the living areas – we think it's better suited to children

The swimming pool is only available for use between 1st May and 31st October

The owner has a home on the same estate, and she occasionally lives there – however, the pool is for the use of guests only and isn't shared with the owner

We highly suggest renting a car in this area – there are five parking places on-site

The dining tables double as laptop-friendly workspaces

About Lucca

Lucca is one of Italy’s best-kept secrets. Surrounded by fortified walls, its core is a warren of pretty piazzas, traditional Tuscan trattorias, and beautifully preserved churches. Most of the action happens in Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, a vast central square lined with alfresco restaurants and Renaissance-era architecture. There’s a buzzy nightlife scene centred around cool enotecas and craft beer bars. On Via Fillungo, you’ll find some of Lucca’s finest boutiques, with high-end...
