Hiding in plain sight among the narrow cobbled streets of Oria's historic centre, overlooked by landmarks such as the Norman-Swabian Castle and the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, this enchanting townhouse will surprise and delight from the moment you open up the front door to unveil the sheer scale of its traditional charms. Its cathedral-like interior boasts spacious and soothing pastel-coloured rooms beneath sky-high vaulted ceilings, terrazzo-tiled floors that are cool underfoot on even the warmest of summer afternoons, plus plenty of eye-catching antiques dotted throughout. On the reverse side, a balcony runs the full length of the building, providing two individually decorated bedrooms with direct outdoor access and an alfresco dining area for family feasts in the fresh air. The town has a long and storied history dating back at least 3,000 years. During this time, it has been under the rule of several civilisations. Today, it's blessed with an array of architectural styles best appreciated on a leisurely stroll through its atmospheric old town. On clear days, you'll be able to make out the Adriatic and Ionian coasts from the top of the hills – both are within an hour's drive – while there are plenty of vineyards to... visit on winetasting tours of the Valle d'Itria.
