Set up camp on the patio and watch local Roman life take shape around you – it’s a wonderful spot for a morning coffee or evening drinks. Slide apart the glass doors and find that this home is more modern than a lot of what’s on offer in this city – and with a warmth not always common in modern design. We love the pale wood kitchen island and suede lounge chairs. You’ll be situated on the border of Testaccio and Ostiense, a far cry from the crowds of Piazza di Spagna. The local neighbourhood is slowly shifting, but there’s still plenty of character, street art and independent restaurants – indeed, Testaccio is famous as the centre of Roman cuisine. You'll be just fifteen minutes from the glass-roofed Testaccio market and its culinary delights, and even closer to the Tiber River, where you can take lovely sunset walks along the watery heart of the city. Plus, a lovely thirty-five-minute walk will find you in the centre of Rome, for any and all the sightseeing you desire.

About Testaccio
Testaccio is built on food, or rather, food containers. Founded in first century BC as a river port, it was where Rome's supplies of olive oil, grain and wine arrived into the city. Everything was transported in terracotta amphorae, which were smashed on arrival and discarded. Centuries of this practice created a vast mound of terracotta fragments – the Monte dei Cocci – which has become the district's defining feature....

Host
This home is managed by Carmela
This home is managed directly by a business. A member of their staff will be your point of contact before and during your stay. They say that you should find something you love to do, and get someone to pay you to do it. Carmela used to live abroad, and when she came back she realised that she missed living in an environment where you could meet people from all over the world. In order to scratch that itch, she began to look after flats so that such interactions could become part of her daily life. That was in 2015 and she’s still going strong.
