In a little old palazzo in the heart of Trastevere, Soft Pastelli is a sweet apartment - not massive but plenty of room for what it is. The walls are painted in lovely pastels, giving it an old-fashioned (in the best way) feel and each bedroom also has an en-suite, so there’ll be no waiting for the shower. The only real issue with Soft Pastelli is the lack of natural light, which is a very common problem in the neighbourhood due to the old buildings and narrow alleyways.

Home truths

There isn't a real dining table in the apartment, just a counter along a wall.

When we checked, the kitchen wasn't particularly well stocked.

While it's only on the first floor, there's no lift in the building.

There isn't a lot of natural light, particularly during bad weather.

Guests six and seven will be on a sofa bed in the living room.

Expect to hear some noise from the second bedroom's A/C.

It's worth noting that the mattresses here are on the firmer side, so not everyone might find them comfortable.

The water pressure here isn't the strongest.

Given the home's spot in a lively area, expect to hear some late-night noise from nearby restaurants and bars throughout your stay, particularly on weekends.

This home is managed directly by its owner who will be your point of contact before and during your stay. Having originally started hosting by renting her flat informally while living in another city, Patrizia has since taken it on as a full-time job - she so enjoyed meeting people from different places. If you’re lucky, you might even get to have dinner with her and her family, and learn what life in Rome is really like.
