The London Restaurants That Deliver in Lockdown
Here are just some of the great London restaurants offering alternative ways that we can enjoy them during lockdown.
~
You'll struggle to think of an industry that hasn't been affected by the current climate (travel certainly has). Our beloved local haunts are having a tough time, but we’re deeply impressed by their creative, community-driven response to the situation. (And we all know how difficult we can be to please.) Here at Plum Guide, our favourite thing is, of course, the unique way in which we can still enjoy, and support, our favourite foodie spots. Here’s our guide to some of our favourite London restaurants that deliver or provide alternative services at the moment.
Pidgin
If you want to treat yourself to a flavoursome three-course meal, then look no further than Pidgin’s take-home menu, rather superbly named Homing Pidgin. With dishes like crispy fried pork pavé and burrata with smoked butternut squash to enjoy, we know what we’ll be ordering until we can take a seat at their trendy Hackney restaurant once again.

Darjeeling Express
Founder Asma Khan and the Darjeeling Express team are serving a sumptuous deli offering until the time comes to open their brand-new restaurant in the heart of Covent Garden (just a stone's throw away from this stylish Plum Guide home). Coined the 'Railway Menu', you'll find a wealth of choice from street food like channa chaat and puchkas to dinner dishes like a creamy prawn malai curry. (The desserts are rather delicious too...)
Yashin Sushi
Yashin Sushi is one of our favourite Japanese restaurants in London, so we were delighted to hear that it's one of the restaurants that deliver, offering a very tempting takeaway set menu. Head to their website to arrange click and collect from their Kensington restaurant – the perfect treat.

Borough Market
Loved by locals and tourists alike, Borough Market’s vendors are continuing to sell a wide range of British and international produce from their Southwark site. The market is operating with social distancing measures, allowing us to shop for our favourite ingredients whilst respecting the current climate. A job very well done.

Bao
Die-hard fans of these legendary steamed buns, listen up. Bao has joined the group of restaurants that deliver with a service called Rice Error. Rather than bao buns, though, the menu is focused around rice boxes using chi sang from Taiwan. But don't worry, you can still find bao buns on the menu.

50 Kalò di Ciro Salvo
Originally from Naples (the home of pizza, might we add), it should come as no surprise that 50 Kalò has been dubbed the “best pizza in London”. And great news, they’re still mastering the craft through takeaway and delivery services. Keep it simple with their classic Margherita. Or if you want something with a bit of spice, opt for the Diavolo DOP instead.
@thedelectableveggie
There are a number of other restaurants across London, as well as our other destinations, offering a similar kind of service. So it’s always worth getting in touch with your favourite neighbourhood spots to find out if they're one of the restaurants that deliver. Let’s keep supporting our much-loved locals (and let’s keep enjoying their great food too).
