The cake has been cut, the presents opened and you simply cannot stop staring into each other’s eyes. Congratulations! You did it. Now it's time to celebrate with a big long holiday pretending you're the only two people that exist. Plum Guide has got the goods on the most beautiful UK honeymoon destinations so all you have to worry about is whispering sweet nothings.
Edinburgh
It’s hard not to feel romantic in the Scottish capital. Is it all the history and ancient buildings? The fabulous selection of high-end restaurants? Or is it just all the whisky? Who knows. As far as honeymoons go, you can’t go wrong in Edinburgh. Day trips across the Highlands are a must. Head to the Lammermuir Hills for landscapes, Glencoe for a glimpse of Lochness and the tiny fishing village of St Abbs for a dose of tranquillity.

The Cotswolds
You may not have married into the kind of family that owns thatched cottages in one of the wealthiest areas of England, but you can pretend at this UK honeymoon destination. That’s right, don your best Barbour jacket, some wellington boots and head to the Cotswolds with your love. Country pubs, beautiful walks and chocolate box villages await. Chipping Campden wins quaint points for its signature yellow stone buildings and selection of cafes and delis.
Dorset
Dorset is the birthplace of Trivial Pursuit – it doesn't get much sexier than that. Apart from incredible board games, Dorset boasts one of the UK’s most impressive coastlines. Spend the days exploring the beaches (take a dip if you’re brave enough) and discovering the coves that make this part of the world so unique. A selfie at Durdle Door is obligatory FYI. Once you’re beached out, head home and snuggle on the sofa of your impeccable Plum Guide home.
Yorkshire
The Maldives may have golden beaches and jaw-dropping sunsets, but have you ever seen mist gently rolling over the top of an ancient viaduct? They may have tropical cocktails and fresh fruit, but Yorkshire has Old Peculiar ale from the Black Sheep Brewery and Yorkshire Puddings. The dales and the moors inspired the likes of the Brontë sisters and you’ll soon see why as you traverse the incredible landscape. Use your inspiration to pen letters of love to your newlywed. They definitely won’t find it cheesy.
Devon
Cream teas, coastal walks and slightly better weather than up north; if that doesn’t scream honeymoon we don’t know what does. Devon boasts a whopping five areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty making the landscapes simply stunning. If you’re into your world heritage sites (and who isn’t), pop along to the Jurassic Coast and Tavistock and Tamar Valley to experience a feeling of awe. Explore sandy coves and pebble beaches before stumbling across another glorious little village. Hole up in a pub with some top grub and a pint of the good stuff.

London
Bright lights, world class bars and a restaurant scene that blows the mind. Eat and drink your way around some of the country’s best restaurants for a guaranteed luxury honeymoon experience. What could be more romantic than exploring the culture of the UK with the person you’re bound to spend the rest of your life with? Reminisce about those ‘I do’s’ as you check out the dinosaur exhibition at the Natural History Museum or ogle at the crown jewels at Tower Bridge.
Somerset
Somerset is a treasure trove of gorgeous towns and bucolic countryside, making it a perfectly peaceful UK honeymoon destination. After your fill of quaint villages and wholesome walks head to the bright lights of Bristol. Shop the UK’s longest independent high street, wave at the 12-foot break dancing Jesus spray-painted (yes you read that right) on the infamous Stokes Croft and walk Brunel’s Suspension Bridge up in Clifton.
