As you travel along the winding driveway, through an enchanting mahogany grove to this luxury home in the renowned centuries-old 23-acre Porters Great House Estate, you'll be congratulating yourself on discovering this gem. Wander down hidden paths past the sparkling pool and old sugar works through stunning tropical gardens. It's hard to choose, but we think one of our favourite spots is by the peaceful lily pond. Once the old carriage house, the villa is cosy yet chic with coral stone walls, marble floors, and metalwork chandeliers. We particularly adore the dining room with its high ceiling, intricate woodwork design and wall of wooden shutters – it's the perfect place to entertain family and friends. If you can bear to leave this Barbadian paradise with its green monkeys and gorgeous birds roaming the grounds, then the gorgeous white sands and turquoise waters of Colony Club Beach are just over a five-minute stroll away.

This home is literally steps from the beach – a staircase leads from the back garden to rockpools and a Caribbean sea every shade of blue imaginable. If you prefer your water less saline, the swimming pool in the backyard lets you gaze out over the ocean while keeping blissfully cool. In true, laid-back Caribbean fashion, a hammock is strung up between the terrace columns and an entire outdoor seating area has been set up in the shade – rattan sofas with plump cushions, an 8-seater dining table and a board game table for games by lamplight. Right down on the sands of popular Mullins Beach, this Bajan beauty is just a few feet from the sea. A traditional beach house with two glorious sun decks, this place has been designed to focus on the view. There's no pool here, but that's because you really couldn't get any closer to the water – head off for daily swims in the clear blue of the Caribbean and dry off in the sun on one of your loungers. At night, the terrace transforms into a enchanting setting, perfect for cocktails – mix them up in your private bar area. There’s outdoor tubs in a tropical courtyard off two of the guest suites, creating a wonderful spa-like atmosphere – we love it here. Inside is no less impressive with its Balinese carvings, a master bedroom with a four-poster bed and floor to ceiling windows providing stunning views of the ocean. Hidden away off the main living area, there's a cosy media room, so get some popcorn and watch your favourite movie. If you can bear to leave this Barbadian paradise, Holetown, with its range of restaurants offering both international and local cuisine, is a five-minute drive. And with privileged access to the gorgeous Fairmont Royal Pavilion beach,under a ten-minute ride away, you can relax in luxury on the sun loungers under an umbrella, any time you please. With so much on offer here, you'll never want to leave.

Beach-adjacent and with barefoot lux written all over it, this villa fully embraces its position on the south coast of Barbados. The soft white sand of Silver Sands Beach is mere footsteps away and there are a handful of laid back beach bars and restaurants in the neighbourhood. Fringed by lush botanica, the corner infinity pool juts out towards the sea, competing for the deepest shade of blue. Three tiers of shaded verandas, balconies and a crowning rooftop terrace provide ample space to laze on loungers in the sun or sit back with a glass of something cool under the hum of a ceiling fan.
