Considering its placement in Berlin's Mitte district, which is steeped in history and culture, you'll feel right at home in the neighbourhood. Locations don't come much more central to Berlin than the lively Mitte area, so you'll be glad to know there are endless experiences and sights at your doorstep. A twelve-minute wander will take you to Hackescher Höfe – a must-see maze of Art Nouveau courtyards made up of designer shops, restaurants, cafes and incredible street art – while a twenty-four-minute stroll will bring you to Museum Island, which comprises five museums for the history buffs to enjoy.

While this home is small, we promise it’ll make for a comfortable base. With a hotel-like style, the building is from 2016, which means that it feels incredibly modern and streamlined. The location is excellent – it’s within walking distance to many of Berlin’s most popular attractions, like Checkpoint Charlie, and Museum Island. You’ll also find an abundance of restaurants and coffee shops that are worth checking out.

There’s nothing generic about Lofty Ideals. It has lots of vintage items thrown together with flair and originality. Colours, patterns, textures, plants – it feels alive and inspiring with little touches of Los Angeles, the host’s hometown. A bohemian dream, this one-bedroom loft in Kreuzberg also has some rugged features to it, but they only add more charm to this very, very cool home.

Located right in the heart of Berlin, this no-fuss aparthotel home is the perfect base for busy types who like to spend their time exploring. History fans will be intrigued by the building’s history – it was once a former military hospital turned office for the Russian secret service. At the exact point where Kreuzberg meets Neukölln, we find The Blue Angel. Kreuzkölln, as the locals call it, is a blend of multiple identities - there’s the multicultural atmosphere, the hipster bars, and a mix of both expensive abodes and rundown buildings. The Blue Angel embodies all of it with its high ceilings and original plaster details paired with contemporary photo prints and vintage furniture in the kitchen.

Florentina is effortlessly minimalist in every way possible. It has a Scandinavian feel, and a high-end kitchen that’s great for cooking up a storm. With a calming neutral colour palette, curated details and the stunning wooden floor, this home encourages you to slow down. Although it’s not located in the liveliest part of Berlin, it’s great for couples looking to explore Charlottenburg and all of its charm.

Adventurous. Nostalgic. Sophisticated. The Ivory Empress is all of that and more. Set in a building from the 1900s, its history is celebrated by the light colour palette, gorgeous wooden floors and magnificent works of art. It’s easy to see that the host has an eye for design – most things are sourced from flea markets, with each piece of art and furniture telling a story. Located right on the border between Kreuzberg and Neukölln in a neighbourhood the locals call Kreuzkölln, this five-bedroom home is in a place where hipster coffee shops meet multicultural Berlin.

Bright and airy, A Week with Marilyn has that charming Altbau vibe. Located on a residential street in Mitte, it overlooks an inner courtyard with leafy views. It doesn’t have oodles of character, but we do like that it’s very central. You’re well-connected transport-wise, and it’s also within walking distance to some of Berlin’s coolest galleries.

Crisp Apple isn’t the largest home in our Berlin collection – it’s a studio apartment, so there’s not much space to spread out. The layout makes the most of the space it has though, and the French windows flood the home with natural light. A real highlight is its well-maintained private balcony, looking onto a peaceful courtyard. Although central, the surrounding area is quiet and residential, with Mauer Park right on the doorstep – those wanting to be surrounded by activity might want to look elsewhere.

Every room in Stilleben tells a different story. Every corner is curated with meticulous attention to detail, and it quickly becomes clear that Tina is passionate about interior design and creating a sense of space. Her collection of flower paintings is impressive – and so is her love of mid-century design (the 1960s Italian glass tables, Eames chairs, and the stunning Wim Rietveld lamp in the living room are favourites). It’s located in Kreuzberg (in the Bergmannkiez to be exact), so there are plenty of elegant boutiques, restaurants, and coffee shops nearby.

Stilleben

Swanky in every way, Schwerin reminds us of German fairytale castles. While Schöneberg isn’t exactly located atop a hill with panoramic views of forests and mountains (like a real castle), it does offer a lot in terms of local Berlin restaurants and shops. We love the high ceilings, stucco details and luxurious materials, perfect for channelling your inner regal self.

Dating back to 1905, this former industrial building in the trendy neighbourhood of Wedding is an ode to Berlin’s past. Huge, warehouse-sized windows let in tonnes of natural light, illuminating the hand-crafted wood accents and collection of glassware and ceramics made by ultra-local artisans. High ceilings give an immense sense of space, and the view from the windows looks out over Berlin. Sustainability is the watchword here, with most aspects made from reclaimed wood and vintage furniture throughout. Underfloor heating keeps the chill of winter away and there’s a roof terrace for sunny summer days.

You’re in the heart of Berlin’s Wedding neighbourhood here, which was once rough-and-ready and is now an ever-changing canvas of trendy cafés, galleries, parks and street markets. The S+U Wedding u-bahn station is just a two-minute walk away which can have you in the heart of Berlin in around ten minutes too.

Found right by the Spree, The Greenery is in an excellent location. You’re within walking distance to many of Berlin’s cultural offerings (Museum Island is only twenty minutes away), along with lots of famous night clubs (if that’s your thing). The living room feels incredibly lively – we loved the abundance of tropical green plants and host Paul’s attention to detail. And the kitchen is wonderful too – we can only imagine the kind of delicious meals that you’ll want to cook while staying in this home.

The Greenery

It’s easy to see that Photographic Memory is a cherished home. Brimming with plants, personal trinkets, and artworks made by a friend of the host’s grandmother, you can sense the calmness and love as soon as you step through the front door. While it’s not in the heart of Prenzlauer Berg, it's only five minutes away from Mauerpark. And there are also plenty of eateries, cosy coffee shops and design boutiques within walking distance.

Photographic Memory

With a large, well-equipped kitchen, and a wonderful patio, there’s no getting around the fact that this home is set up for having a good time. There’s also a sauna, which is the ultimate post-sightseeing treat. Location-wise, it almost doesn’t get any better than this. Rosenthaler Platz is rich in culture, and it’s also one of our favourite neighbourhoods – get ready to explore modern art galleries, one-of-a-kind cafes, quirky bars, and lots and lots of co-working spaces.

If you’re in Berlin to see the sights, you should stay somewhere like The Frog Prince. Alexanderplatz is about fifteen minutes away and the same with Museum Island. Even though it’s not the most characterful home we have, we love its vintage-meets-modern style. The kitchen is a particular favourite, with its sleek feel and modern appliances.

For a one-bedroom apartment, White Heat feels exceptionally expansive and inviting. Art lovers, creatives, and urban explorers will be well matched to this home. The carefully curated art and the variety of unique furniture make it an attractive, intriguing space. The kitchen and bathroom are both incredibly well-designed, proving that this is a place made to be lived in. The surrounding neighbourhood is full of independent cafes and bars, and you can find everything you need within walking distance. 


White Heat

If a typical Berlin flat in the heart of trendy Friedrichshain is what you’re after, then Garnet Touch is perfect for you. With a fully equipped kitchen and a small bedroom, we would recommend this home for a single traveller or young couple. It faces the backyard and can therefore be a little dark, but with the nearest train station only 500 metres away and Boxhagener Platz and its weekend food and flea market, we doubt you’ll be spending much time indoors anyway.

This stylish apartment has a distinct 1960s feel to it. And the best of all, you ask? It’s all happening inside a charming Altbau, with high ceilings and big windows galore. Natural light pours into the spacious communal areas and bedrooms, combing with a mint green colour scheme and an abundance of luscious houseplants to create a calm and breathable apartment to unwind. For those keeping one eye on work during their stay, you'll notice a light-filled desk space to set up a home office. Full of funky patterns, retro tiled flooring and chic decor, you'll find the sociable open-plan space a great spot to hang out with friends and family after a day spent sightseeing around Berlin. Better still, step out onto the private balcony with a glass of something bubbly and watch how the locals go about their daily lives below. The location is as central as it gets, with Alexanderplatz just around the corner (about five minutes on foot) – and if you feel like exploring Museum Island, it’s less than a short fifteen-minute stroll from this crowd-pleasing pad.

Elegant and bright, with bohemian touches, this delightful little home is in the vibrant Kreuzberg neighbourhood, known for its art galleries and nightlife. Part of a typical period building, it's overlooking a courtyard and boasts that all-important outside space – a pretty balcony with herb pots just off the kitchen. The decor is kept relaxing and neutral, with warmth added by the dark wood floors, colourful rugs and a huge monstera plant hanging over the table. from the living room window, you can take in the street views and watch the locals go about their day. It’s right opposite Markthalle Neun, one of the city’s most popular spots for trying out international cuisines and street food, and it's easy to get around with Friedrichshain and Neukölln easily reached on foot.

Set in what used to be a former military hospital/office for the Russian secret service, this now modern apartment is swimming in history. The colour scheme is kept in grey tones for a calm, soothing feel, which we love and the arched windows allow plenty of natural light into the open-plan living space. Cleverly designed, although it’s not big (it’s more of a studio actually), it feels spacious with the great use of a dividing wall in the centre of the room. The exposed brickwork and industrial-chic lighting keep things stylish. Plus, the skyscraper views over Mitte are quite something too. But the real highlight of this home is its enviable location. Almost impossible to beat, Alexanderplatz is very close by (about five minutes away), so you won’t have to walk for long to experience some of Berlin’s most popular attractions – speaking of, the intriguing Museum Island is also less than a fifteen-minute stroll from home.

Designed with a calm, soothing colour palette in mind, it also offers hotel-like amenities at an extra cost. While it’s small (it’s more of a studio), the location is hard to beat. It’s just five minutes away from Alexanderplatz, with plenty of popular restaurants and coffee shops nearby too.

From a first glimpse, as you walk through the door, it is clear that the consistent use of wood as a key material was a well-thought-out design choice that brings us back to nature despite the home's city location. 

Contemporary mid-century styles find influence from Scandinavia, while warm neutral tones create a soothing space to relax after the day's adventures exploring the city. Floods of light gently enter the main living space through the floor-to-ceiling glass fronts – providing the conditions for clear thinking and new visions. 

As you wake up here each morning, take the time to admire the carefully selected modern artwork with a cup of coffee in hand – the pieces are by local artists and therefore change regularly. Or why not start your days out on the balcony roof terrace amidst the crisp morning air?

With a seamless transition into each space, we particularly love the hidden kitchen, which can be closed away entirely by shutting the cupboard doors – or presented as somewhat of an art installation when left open. 

From the living area to the bedroom and the en-suite bathroom, the natural light flows and injects life into the space. Underfloor heating ensures your toes will be kept warm during the winter months. And the building's inner courtyard (brimming with plants such as thyme, wall pepper, meadow sage, fragrant bedstraw, and raspberry bushes) will welcome you to enjoy tranquil moments outside when the weather is kind.

Right next to Nordbahnhof Park, we find Pixie. It feels a little generic when it comes to furniture (there’s a lot of IKEA), but we love the huge windows that let in a lot of light. This part of Mitte isn’t the most lively, but you’re well-connected to the rest of Berlin via Nordbahnhof Station (it's only a three-minute walk away).

Linderhof oozes character with a regal touch. Even though we can’t quite seem to nail down its style (it’s a mix of everything, Hollywood Regency elements, Baroque accents, Farmhouse Style cabinetry), we absolutely loved the high ceilings, stucco detailing, and the gorgeous granite countertop. Located in wonderful Schöneberg, it’s in a charismatic part of Berlin with lots to do around the corner.

Linderhof

Although The Silver Portrait is small (it’s a studio after all), it makes for a comfortable base in Berlin. Located in the pulsating heart of the city, it’s only five minutes away from bustling Alexanderplatz, with some of Berlin’s most famous attractions nearby, too. The building is also rich in history. What used to be a military hospital turned office for the Russian secret service, it’s been transformed into several living units, all elegantly designed and well-equipped.
