A bohemian atmosphere meets Japanese zen in this striking home. We particularly love all the original features including the wooden beams, exposed brick walls (and even the creaky floors), which mix beautifully with the hosts’ collection of books and vintage furniture. Since the apartment was renovated in 2013, it has been featured in several lifestyle magazines for its charming design aesthetic. Spread across three floors, unique quirks include the rather rustic ladders that take you up to the second and third floors. Curl up in a cosy corner with a book in hand and live the scene of what seems like it could be a fictional dream. Alongside world literature, the host also supplies guests with access to gym equipment, should you wish to keep up with your fitness routine while visiting Copenhagen. Around the apartment, the immediate area feels very local – the Christianshavn canals are just two minutes away, and so are plenty of restaurants. All in all, it's safe to say that this home is perfectly out of the ordinary.

As expected for an 18th-century Copenhagen home, the layout of this large and oh-so-stylish studio is a little kooky. One bedroom with a handy desk nook is tucked into the eaves on a mezzanine, so it's not the most private of spaces. The living area, which houses a sofa bed for two guests, forms part of the main bedroom. And while the balcony is a bonus, it's pocket-sized. But you can't quibble with the location. Set slap bang in the middle of Indre By, you're within walking distance of all the city's must-sees. Get off to a flying start at the shopping mecca of Strøget – it's right outside your door. Just note that this is a central, noisy area – light sleepers may want to pack earplugs.

Centrally located and chicly styled, this apartment ticks all of our boxes. You'll be based in lively Indre By, just a short walk from Nyhavn's colourful harbour and Strøget's many shops. But even better than the location is the private roof terrace back home. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a Danish beer and admire the city views. Indoors, the pared-back interiors feature natural elements and lots of light. The kitchen isn't the biggest and there is some adult-themed artwork, but otherwise, it's a cosy option in the heart of the city.

This Copenhagen apartment has all the hallmarks of sophisticated design. There’s a sleek black kitchen with trendy copper details, pared-back rooms with moody feature walls and industrial-style windows that bridge the gap between private and communal spaces—they’re even draped with heavy, velvety curtains for moments when you want some privacy. Step out of your front door and straight into the city centre. You’re within touching distance of speciality coffee houses, the pedestrianised Strøget with its endless stream of shops and high-profile kitchens serving cutting-edge dishes. A two-minute walk will take you to the Kongens Have—the manicured lawns are a prime spot for sun worshipers on warm days and the huge flower beds are a glorious sight in the summer months. 

Doing Good

Just a five-minute walk from this apartment will take you to the City Hall Square and the central station. It's the same walking distance to Tivoli Gardens, a magical theme park with a century-old wooden roller coaster, gardens and restaurants. As with the rides at Tivoli, this apartment has some ups and downs – let's start with the good points. There's a shared garden perfect for beers in the summer, and the apartment itself is spacious. To enter the second bedroom, though, you will need to go through the third bedroom. This room doesn't have any windows but borrows light via French doors into the adjacent room, so privacy is also an issue – it’s probably fine for the kids, we would say.

Our favourite spot is the private balcony with its views of Christiansborg’s spire. Sit here with your morning coffee while soaking up the fresh air or gather at the elegant dining table with the French doors open to enjoy the warmth and cosiness of your home. With plenty of curios decking the shelves, original artwork, a record player to serenade your evenings and a beautiful antique bureau on which to catch up on work, you’re all set for a relaxing time here, whether for business or pleasure. Factor in the luxurious Hästens bed for a dreamy night’s sleep and you may never leave your comfortable home. Situated in the heart of Copenhagen, this apartment provides a perfectly practical space for groups visiting the city. Tivoli Gardens is less than a ten-minute walk away, while nearby Ørstedsparken is a great spot for escaping the city buzz. The master bedroom can be set up with twin single beds upon request and the double sofa bed adds flexibility. Just keep in mind that the second bedroom is partly open to the living area, so it lacks some privacy. Otherwise, the two large bathrooms will help to speed mornings along, so you can head out and spend more time exploring all that the Danish capital has to offer.

Size and style come in equal measure at this Copenhagen apartment. It's perched along the famous shopping mile, and most of the must-see sights are just a stroll away. A great option for a multi-generational family stay, each bedroom is as light-filled as the next, and the living spaces are palatial by inner-city standards. It's worth noting there's only one bathroom here, and four guests will be sharing the last bedroom – fine for family sharing, but it won't suit everyone. Expect street noise from time to time, too – but that's all part and parcel of central Copenhagen living.

Situated in a residential neighbourhood, the apartment offers some peace and quiet, while a ten-minute metro ride takes you right into the bustling city centre. Here you’ll find a large variety of places worth visiting such as Rosenborg Castle, Tivoli Gardens or the picturesque Nyhavn, as well as plenty of bars and eateries.

A whirlwind of green hues, this snug home brings an instant smile to our faces. It's warm and comfortable, with a large dining table perfect for sharing family meals and a cosy sitting area where you can kick back and relax with a glass of wine and Netflix. A small collection of books and board games only add to the homey feel, as do the large windows which flood the lounge with natural light. One of the bedrooms is rather tiny and the bathroom isn't the biggest we've seen, but the brilliant location more than makes up for it. We love this area's historic charm and quiet streets, yet buzzing restaurants, cafes and shops are all a short stroll away. You're also within walking distance to many of Copenhagen's most beloved sights – Amalienborg Palace, Nyhavn, The Little Mermaid, Frederik's Church, you name it, chances are you can get to it easily. Best of all? The Danish queen lives just down the road, so if it's good enough for royalty, it's good enough for us.

Sage Advice

Nestled in the heart of Copenhagen, this apartment is ideal for a couple’s retreat. A mere five-minute walk will take you to Tivoli, and you'll also find the inner city lakes on your doorstep when you fancy a fresh-air stroll. While it can sleep up to four people, two guests will draw the short straw and be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living area. With the bedroom separated from the main living space with a glass partition, it lacks some privacy, so we think it’s a home best suited to families. There’s no oven here, but with the apartment’s enviable location you’ll find eateries on your doorstep, so dining out is a breeze.

This Copenhagen bolthole may be pocket-sized, but it would work well for two friends or colleagues looking for a central base to lay their heads. There's little space for socialising, with no living room to speak of. But each bedroom has a cushy chair and the dining banquette in the compact kitchen is a cosy spot for breakfast, and the bakery nearby will keep the pastries flowing. Outside, Nyhavn's buzzy cafes and restaurants are just around the corner. Kongens Nytorv Metro Station is also within easy reach, ready for you to blaze a trail across the city.


Nyhavn Soul

Split across two levels with a wooden ladder connecting the two, this two-bedroom home is ideal for younger travellers looking to be right in the centre of Copenhagen. Even though it lacks in entertainment options, you’ll not have to worry about finding things to do because The Conrad is situated in a repurposed office building on top of Strøget, Copenhagen’s busiest shopping street.

The heart of Indre By is easily accessible by foot, and the Marmorkirken metro station is a ten-minute walk away. As there is not enough comfortable seating for a group of five, we recommend this place for groups who are always on the go. The kitchen, however, is fully equipped with everything you need for home cooking, and your host can arrange cleaning services for an additional fee.

Located right in the heart of Copenhagen, this eco-friendly apartment hits all the right notes when it comes to ease and simplicity. Outside, it’s a short stroll to Kongens Have and Kongens Nytorv. There are great public transport links and paid parking is available at a location nearby. Minimalists will appreciate the simple details of this apartment. It’s also family-friendly with space across two floors to stretch out and unwind. At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living area but this works nicely for larger groups.

It elegantly blends wooden furniture, green plants and photos taken by the host himself to form a modern minimalist home with plenty of charm. You are a five-minute walk from Nyhavn and all of its cultural attractions. If you feel like experiencing the city in a different way, you can also sit down on the sunny balcony with a cup of coffee and watch Copenhageners go about their day.

We love this studio apartment's location – it's steps away from Amager Strand. So, if you like to swim in the sea, kite surf or go for long walks on the beach, this is the place for you. The National Aquarium of Denmark is also just minutes away. The proximity to the airport and a metro station that takes you into the city centre in six minutes makes it ideal for tourists and business travellers alike. Back at this home's development, there's a shared gym, or relax on the king-sized bed in the apartment (there's no sofa or living room here). Yes, the kitchen is quite compact, but it does have an oven and hob, so you can still cook some Danish delicacies.

Sunlit Oasis

Locations really don’t get much better than this. It's rare to find a property this close by to the picture-perfect Nyhavn district, with its brightly coloured gabled townhouses. Find a sunny spot outside at a quayside café or hop on a boat for one of the many canal tours that start here. As the evening draws in, take a pre-dinner stroll along the waterfront, then duck into one of the many restaurants and bars that line the canal.  You could call in on the Queen too, she lives just around the corner. And when it’s finally time to retreat inside, you’ll find a contemporary place that invites you to be social. The communal area is the heart of the home, offering plenty of space for your tribe to hang out, cook, and eat. The industrial-style windows flood natural light through the apartment by day, while the plush velvet curtains allow privacy at night when it’s time for some shut-eye.

There’s no place like home… Until you’ve stayed in Master of Light that is. Casual luxury at its finest, it’s Copenhagen at its best. The location is extraordinary – you’re right besides Nyhavn, the city’s most famous postcard motif. And we can’t get over the design. Alexander clearly has a passion for Danish design, with works by Bang & Olufsen and Hans J. Wegner adorning every corner. There’s also a fantastic rooftop terrace with a nine-person hot tub, sun beds and a lounge arrangement, plus fantastic views of Copenhagen's historic buildings.



Master of Light

You're right in the thick of things at this smart downtown apartment, perched along Copenhagen's shopping mecca of Strøget. The metro is just 100 metres from your door, though we doubt you'll need it with buzzy Nyhavn Harbour and countless happening restaurants and cosy cafes within walking distance. It's worth noting if four of you share, the last two guests will have to make do with the sofa bed in the living space. You'll also need to prepare for some street noise from time to time. But we'll take that for a home with such an unbeatable location.

Strøget Delight

A flat roomy enough for ten people right in the city centre is pretty much unheard of, so imagine our surprise when we found this gem. With five stylish bedrooms and an amply-sized living area meant for socialising, there's enough space here for a big group to spread out and get comfortable. The kitchen isn't massive – we'd only recommend it for cooking breakfast and other light meals – but we liked the vanity area outside the bathrooms, where you can prep hair and makeup without hogging the loo. There are other touches, too – USB plugs by all the beds, an Apple TV in the living space for at-home movie nights and no single-use plastic. This building has the highest eco-certification (A15) and it's run on renewable energy, so it's as good for the environment as it is stylish. Best of all is the location – Strøget is just around the corner, with restaurants, shops, cafes and bars all right on your doorstep. You're only two minutes away from Kongens Have and Rosenborg Castle as well, perfect for strolls in the sun.

Brimming with Scandi charm, this top-floor apartment offers a stylish base in the centre of Copenhagen. Not only are the interiors comfortable and bright, but you also have the luxury of a private balcony with views of neighbouring red rooftops.

In this home, you'll feel a tangible sense of calm among the nude-toned furnishings and smooth textures. Wake up and prepare a coffee and Danish pastry in the sleek high-spec kitchen, then glide outside for a leisurely breakfast in the sun. After a morning of lounging in the homely living space, head downstairs and step straight into the city centre.

The widely photographed Nyhavn harbour, flanked by colourful buildings, is just a five-minute walk away. The open-plan living area is the ideal hangout spot for your holiday downtown. Finished with bright furnishings and a touch of boho charm, the spacious room is lit up with not one, not two, but six windows. After preparing meals in the snazzy kitchen, you have a choice of places to dine – at the breakfast bar, the eight-person dining table, or outside in the sun (that's our pick, weather permitting). 

When it's time to explore the city, you won't have to travel far to take in Copenhagen's best sites. The cobbled Kongens Nytorv square is barely a five-minute walk away, and from here Nyhavn's colourful waterfront is another short hop. Enjoy lunch with a waterfront view, then meander through the characterful streets towards Christianshavn, a unique network of small islands. This is the place to be if you're a fan of street art and intimate music venues.

This enchanting apartment is one of the colourful homes that line Nyhavn, a dreamy harbour of welcoming cafes and vibrant restaurants playing jazz. It's like walking through a Danish fairytale.

Begin your mornings wandering along the canal, coffee in hand as you bask in the picturesque scenery. Grab a pastry then stroll towards Christianhavn, one of the upbeat and flourishing hubs of the capital city. Here you'll find hip bars and eating spots to mingle with the locals. Stroget, Copenhagen's busy retail district, is the place to be if you want to immerse yourself in the city's shopping culture. This penthouse apartment is located right on Strøget, the main pedestrian street in Copenhagen, making it ideal for visitors who want to explore the city on foot. Climb up to the top of the building and once you arrive, and you'll find a wonderfully light and welcoming space that's full of Scandi-style and designer furniture. The lovely kitchen and living space are great for socialising over some smørrebrødands and a glass of wine, and the gorgeous wooden floors and high windows add an extra level of charm. However, our favourite part of this home is the romantic little nook in the bay window where you can look out over the city's spires and rooftops. Back on ground level, you can stroll to Tivoli Gardens, the famous 19th Century amusement park, in less than ten minutes, while the iconic Nyhavn waterfront is a fifteen-minute walk away. 

The Olive Tree Loft

Situated just one street from The Lakes, this penthouse apartment is perfectly positioned for waterfront strolls, coffees and drinks. This modern Scandi-style apartment is ideal for groups wanting to maximise their time both out and in, with a central location and a contemporary sociable space. If you’re visiting as a group of eight, two guests will sleep on the living area sofa bed, so you might need to call it early some nights. But then again, with plenty of bars and concert venues nearby, we’re sure you'll spend your evenings out experiencing the Copenhagen culture. 

Lake Haven

In the heart of Copenhagen, this central pad is a great base for those exploring the city. The popular Strøget shopping district is on your doorstep, with restaurants, bars and boutiques within easy reach. And for sightseeing ventures across town, the Rådhuspladsen Metro stop is a five-minute walk away. Back home, the design is contemporary rather than charming, while the quiet courtyard is a nice bonus. The sofa bed adds flexibility for larger groups and the dining table doubles up as a handy workspace, but do keep in mind that some street noise should be expected here. 

Old Town Retreat

Pictionary is just a five-minute walk away from Copenhagen’s Central station, which means that you’re very well-connected. Vesterbro is also lovely, especially if you’re looking to sample some new restaurants or coffee shops – or want to be in walking distance to Tivoli and Rådhuspladsen. It’s not the most characterful home on our books, but we like that it feels welcoming and bright. The kitchen is definitely the highlight – it’s large, modern, and well-equipped for cooking. 

Pictionary

Set in a handsome building from 1791, you’ll be minutes from so many of Copenhagen’s best attractions. Both Amalienborg Castle and the Little Mermaid statue are a seven-minute walk away, while the picture-perfect harbour of Nyhavn is just fourteen minutes from home. Catch a glimpse of the stunning Opera house before heading to the neighbourhood’s Copenhagen Bicycles, where you can rent bikes and get around like locals. When you’re back at home you’ll enjoy a luminous and inviting living space with high ceilings and large windows. The furniture is stylish and sleek – Scandi of course – while you’ll have all the essentials you need for a comfortable stay. Enjoy a morning coffee on the sofa looking out at the busy street, or gather around the dining table for breakfast. When it’s time for bed, the bedrooms are soothing with their grey colour palettes, soft linens and plush pillows that ensure a good night of rest. 

Ariel

This stunning apartment is a real one-of-a-kind in the Danish capital. Not only is it in a wonderful location (the Little Mermaid and Amalienborg Palace are only ten minutes away), but it merges historic features with contemporary Danish design in the most elegant way possible. It's a rarity to find homes this large in Copenhagen – especially complete with modern bathrooms – so we were thrilled when this one came across our desk. The bedrooms are among the most stylish we're seen, with forest green feature walls, eye-catching artwork and headboards held by leather straps. While the Crittal-style glass partition walls of the second and third bedrooms are certainly a conversation starter. On long summer days, a couple of French doors open out onto Juliette balconies so you can let the fresh air and that city buzz inside. As a bonus, this three-bedroom home is located along the Crown Prince's preferred cycling route, so you might catch a glimpse of him as he whizzes past on his bike. So if you're set on exploring Copenhagen on foot, by bike, or on the water, this is the ideal choice for you.

The Design Show

As Copenhagen boltholes go, this is as central as it gets. Strøget, the mile-long pedestrianised shopping street, is right on your doorstep. All the must-see sights are within strolling distance. And should you need to be somewhere fast, Gammel Strand Metro is just a four-minute walk away. While there's plenty of space to spill out in that light-filled living room with table tennis set-up, it's worth noting the last two bedrooms are pocket-sized, with limited floor space. Also, there's only one bathroom – so be prepared for some waiting around in the mornings. But for a home this central, we can let that slide.

A Viking Treasure

Positively brimming with colour and personality, this funky pad is Danish hygge at its best. It also oozes character, thanks to Sophie, our host, being a psychology student/painter – and showcasing many of her own vibrant artworks throughout the flat. She also offers an extensive fashion and art book collection for guests to choose from, plus there's a lovely private balcony for a spot of afternoon reading. Enjoy meals in the quirky dining area, with chic lighting, Eames-influenced chairs and brickwork wallpaper, that creates an industrial-styled space. Splashes of colour are painted on the home's blank canvas of wooden floors and whitewashed walls to make for a modern and artsy apartment that really packs a punch. This simple, fuss-free apartment was designed by renowned local architect Kay Fisker in 1958. It’s functional and attractive, with modern amenities and 50s flourishes sitting side-by-side. The apartment is equipped with everything you might need for a comfortable stay in Copenhagen and even comes with free access to a local gym. In terms of location, you couldn’t ask for more – this home is just a stone’s throw from Kongens Have. Exploring the rest of the city is a breeze thanks to excellent transport links – Kongens Nytorv metro station is only an eight-minute walk away. 

Copenhagen Calm

If you're looking for amusement on your city break, how about this home? It's just around the corner from Tivoli Gardens, a theme park with a century-old wooden roller coaster. If you're not after an adrenaline rush, gardens and fantastic restaurants are also nearby. Like the park rides, this apartment has many highs and a few lows. The lift takes you right to the top floor, and we love the characteristic beams. At full capacity, though, there's only one bathroom between eight people – you’d better work out a rota for the mornings.
