Smack bang in the heart of delightful Dénia, this no-fuss apartment is perfect for couples or solo travellers looking for some rest and relaxation on the Costa Blanca. Inside, the place strikes a balance between comfort and function. There’s a compact kitchen equipped for quick meals and a quiet bedroom to ensure a peaceful sleep night after night. But it was the view that was our favourite part. We could’ve spent hours on that modular chair, watching the palm trees sway and the boats to and fro from the harbour, only breaking our gaze to open a bottle of Rioja as the sun sets. Spend mornings exploring your locale – you’re a ten-minute walk from the Dénia Castle and eighteen minutes from the Marineta Casiana Beach. If you’re feeling curious, take the twenty-minute drive to Parc Natural del Montgó for stunning hiking routes or catch the ferry from the port to the dazzling Balearic Islands.

This spacious and well-located villa is a good option for a family or group of friends wanting to holiday in Denia, Costa Blanca. There's a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable living room area to relax in – albeit a little dated in terms of decor. Equipped for all seasons, there's a fireplace for cooler evenings and air conditioning for the summer months. We love the lawned gardens surrounding this family-friendly home – they boast superb sea and mountain views and include a large private pool and BBQ area too. While you can explore the local area on foot, we suggest a car for ease – Parc Natural del Montgó is less than 2km from the villa.

If you fancy it, Arenal beach is less than a fifteen-minute drive away. But it won’t be long until you're back home on the terrace living the good life –  barbecue lit, glass of Priorat red in hand, watching the palm trees sway in the breeze.

This single-storey villa is set within a wooded and residential beach area in the neighborhood of Cabo de la Nao and is a great choice for a romantic getaway. The decor is a little dated and basic but it has all the necessary amenities for a comfortable self-catered stay – and the mountain views are breathtaking. Take a dip in the large private pool, fire up the BBQ for lunch on the terrace, or bask in the Spanish sun on the furnished balcony. While you can explore the local area on foot, we recommend a car for ease – the coastal town of Javea is less than 5km from the villa and its port is well worth a visit.

Just 5 kilometres from the sandy Playa s'Arenal and surf school, the outdoor hangouts don't have to stop at this home. There's a sprawling garden and a private pool to enjoy in your downtime. Overlooking the countryside, the upstairs terrace is the go-to dining spot. You won't have access to the unoccupied parts of this villa. But it's best suited to families of up to six, as long as one guest doesn't mind sleeping on a pull-out bed. With an open-hearth fireplace, cosy winter getaways are on the cards, too.

Featuring a lovely, light filled open plan kitchen cum dining and living room, courtesy of floor to ceiling sliding glass doors which open out onto a cosy courtyard, this artful home boasts both style and substance. Nods to the nautical meet whitewashed walls and windows shutters while brand spanking new cabinetry meets worn wooden furniture, woven basket lights and colourful framed prints. 

Undoubtedly the star of the show, however, is the interior courtyard, with its traditional Tosca stone walls and Spanish style tiled floor – the perfect relaxing retreat come morning, noon or night. If you're looking for a quintessentially Spanish coastal retreat with all of the sangria and sunshine that comes with it, look no further than this gorgeous two-storey villa. Located in La Colina, you're a couple of kilometres from the vast sandy beach and crystalline waters of Platja de l'Arenal, but that's if you can peel yourself away from this achingly beautiful home. 

Days begin outside, with an iced coffee on the sun terrace, overlooking the scenic natural landscape and planning the day's agenda. It will most likely continue with a few leisurely laps of the pool before picking out a lounger to while away the hours. We love the traditional Spanish style of the villa, with its wooden beams, terracotta-tiled roofs, and rustic stonework.

Sure, this apartment in the heart of Javea might be a little simple when it comes to interior design, but people don't come to this corner of Spain to be wowed by home decor – not when there's a wealth of exemplary beaches, hiking routes and seafront restaurants that lie within easy walking distance to explore. That's not to say you'll dread returning home, however. For instance, the balcony – while small – has a rather charming view of the town's port and the Mediterranean Sea stretching into the distance.

Or, with the beach just a five-minute drive away, perhaps you'd rather relax on the sand. Have a light lunch at home or head to the town for some tapas, with everything from traditional Valencian restaurants to quirky eateries on your doorstep. Return home to catch those spectacular sunsets and cook a barbecue as the sun sets over the sea, turning the sky pink and silhouetting the rugged islands off the coast. A huge sliding wall of glass separates the indoor living space with the outdoors, so there’s plenty of opportunity to cook in the sleek, modern kitchen and serve under the parasols on the pool terrace. Each bedroom has its own access to the garden or the terrace so there’ll be no short straws when it’s time to decide who sleeps where.

At the foot of the majestic Montgo mountain, this villa is set within impressive grounds. Offering a private pool, hammock and alfresco seating, you can take your pick of outdoor spots from which to enjoy the panoramic views of the Alicante countryside. With plenty of open green space, the kids have somewhere to run around while the adults relax nearby. Close to the historic centre of Jávea Old Town, narrow streets offer a great family day out, but if you’d like to visit the beautiful Arenal beach then a car is recommended. 

Scenic Slopes

Sitting just 650 metres from the beach and 3 kilometres from the centre of Dénia, this practical apartment offers a fuss-free getaway with plenty of opportunities to soak up the Spanish sun. With two separate terraces offering outdoor seating and alfresco dining options, you can work on your tan with ease. Alternatively, you can head down to the communal pool for a refreshing dip, or make a beeline for the nearby sands. While the home’s interiors are a little generic for our liking and there are some steep internal stairs leading to the upstairs bedroom, this pad’s locale more than makes up for any shortcomings. 


The Royal Span

Nestled at the base of Parc Natural del Montgó, this Costa Blanca hideaway has relaxation written all over it. Although we're not huge fans of the interior design, we do love the garden and its Massís del Montgó scenery. Private pool, rooftop terrace, bubbling hot tub (which requires a weekly fee to use) – chances are, you'll spend most of your getaway alfresco, soaking up the Spanish sun. Keen to explore? Not a problem, since Dénia, Platja de l'Arenal and Javea are all within driving distance.

This simple, fuss-free apartment is an ideal retreat for a coastal family getaway. It may not be the biggest, but it’s well-equipped and comfortable, with the sun-drenched balcony an added bonus. For some respite from the Costa Blanca sun, the communal swimming pool is a welcome sight, framed by towering palm trees. If you prefer not to drive, a car’s not essential here. A short walk from the apartment and you’ll find a selection of shops and restaurants, or for a stroll on sandy shores, Platja de l'Arenal beach is just 800 metres away. 

A Dream in White

A ten-minute drive from the centre of Javea, this charming villa offers sun, relaxation and access to Spain’s beautiful Costa Blanca. Golf courses, horseriding and hiking in the hills are all on offer from your doorstep. While the furnishings aren’t the most modern – plastic chairs outside and a fairly sparse living area inside – the peaceful location is what drew us to this villa. Plus, the swimming pool is vast, there’s a charm to the living room with its traditional fireplace and the kitchen has everything you need for self-catering.  

A Twist of Time

Not far from the golden sand beaches and secret coves of Costa Blanca, this home is a slice of serenity on the Spanish coast. Thick wooden oak beams, white arched walls, and pastoral paintings give the space a traditional feel. There are some quirky stylings too: the candy pink bathroom with its jet tub feels very 50s, as do the cream sofas in the large living space. There's oodles of space for groups, though we suspect most of your time will be spent outside. Nab your spot on a sun lounger by the long pool or wander through the verdant gardens to find a stone pergola – perfect for siestas. There are several good restaurants within easy walking distance, but with such a peaceful location, we prefer to stock up on local goodies and feast while seated on the wrought-iron furniture back at the home.

This dreamy duplex in Javea Port boasts a beautiful balcony and expansive rooftop terrace as well as access to a gym, sauna and indoor and outdoor communal swimming pools. Situated within a gorgeous garden and pool complex, and surrounded by tropical plants, palm trees and sandstone-coloured walkways, this sensational Spanish home is sure to seduce. Featuring a well-equipped kitchen and open plan dining cum living room complete with a ravishing red sofa and matching footstool, this two-bedroom home is family friendly and fuss free. 

You’ll love taking your morning coffee out onto the balcony before heading up to the rooftop for some good, old-fashioned R & R in the sun. Situated in the Montgó district, at the foot of the Montgó Natural Park and just 3 kilometres from the centre of desirable Dénia and the beach – this home has a great address. There are sea vistas from the balcony and terrace and a private swimming pool to cool off from the Costa Blanca heat. Inside, yes, the kitchen is a little dated for some tastes, but we're sure you'll soon forget about that when you see the Mediterranean Sea views. One thing to note with this home, though, is the third bedroom on the upper floor is accessed via an external spiral staircase. That said, it may appeal to members of the group who want a bit more privacy.

So close to so many sights like the Castell de Dénia, you'll have the best of both worlds by being able to keep busy on the golf course, promenade or hiking routes like Via Verda de Dénia, or opt for more laid-back days in the garden where you'll find the private pool and shaded patio table surrounded by lush greenery. 


Sunshine & Salty Waters

This is a villa that will have even the most hard-to-please guests grinning. A lot of that is down to its fabulous views of the glistening Mediterranean and Isla del Portitxol, but special praise also goes to the peaceful swimming pool surrounded by treetops and the covered terrace complete with an alfresco dining table. Although some of the bathrooms are a little dated, we've only got kind words for the three-level layout – we particularly love the main bedroom with a sea-facing balcony. To top it all off, you don't have far to venture for beautiful gold-sand beaches, either.

Set within established and oh-so-peaceful gardens, you'd hardly believe this home is so close to Denia's bustle. You're just 500 metres away from the sandy shores of La Marinas and five kilometres from the history-rich streets of Denia – considered one of Costa Blanca's most desirable coastal towns. Back home, this traditional villa is well suited for guests looking for a little extra privacy, with each light-filled bedroom offering a separate bathroom. Though prepare to tussle for the primary bedroom with a ginormous freestanding bath in the en-suite and garden views to boot.
