Clean, simple lines flow onto the terrace, where you're greeted with a burst of technicolour. The pool, sky and ocean on the horizon shimmer in all shades of blue, while the garden blooms a verdant green. Bring up a bottle of red from the wine cellar and sit out in the sun on a lounger or around the dining table, snacking on cured meats and chatting about nothing in particular. The charming town of Xàbia is just a ten-minute drive away – here you can deliberate between restaurants that serve the best of Spanish cuisine before heading home to catch a pastel sunset. No matter which spot you choose, indoor or outdoor, the views across the landscape are second to none.

Inside, there’s a smattering of rustic features – expect exposed stone walls, timber ceiling beams and a farmhouse-style kitchen. Look forward to spending mornings in the open-plan living space, reclining on the comfy couches with a coffee before whipping up a tasty breakfast to be enjoyed on the balcony. 

Spend afternoons splashing about in the communal pool and tanning on a lounger. When you feel like stretching your legs, wander through your neighbourhood or jump in the car and take the ten-minute drive to Xàbia for its rugged coastline and secluded coves. Stick around to watch the sunset from Mirador 2 on the Port to Cap de Sant Antoni hiking trail – the views are pretty hard to beat.

With its secluded setting and old-style finca ambiance, this home is a beguiling getaway on the outskirts of Jávea. The luxurious country house features nature-blending interiors, with each room taking inspiration from its surroundings. Textiles in terracotta, rust and burnt orange complement original stone and wood features, while blue-green accents of the bed frame, shower curtain and sofa, tie in with the verdant gardens and turquoise pool. We were particularly taken by the Majolica pottery that lines the kitchen walls. Outside, there are umpteen options for alfresco dining, all boasting knockout views of the undulating landscape. Spend your time relaxing on the shaded daybed, watching the sun set among the lemon trees or enjoying a private moment on your bedroom’s patio.  If you fancy it, Arenal beach is less than a fifteen-minute drive away. But it won’t be long until you're back home on the terrace living the good life –  barbecue lit, glass of Priorat red in hand, watching the palm trees sway in the breeze.

Spend mornings relaxing with a good book in the cosy living space before coming together for a tasty breakfast on the covered terrace. 

Outside, blooming gardens give way to a shimmering pool – perfect for plunging into when the heat starts to rise. A summer kitchen with dining set-up encourages long, lazy lunches. Tuck into freshly caught fish seasoned with lemons picked from the tree, then, when you’re replete, call dibs on a lounger and bask in the golden sunshine. 

If exploring is on the agenda, take the short drive to Platja de la Grava for a stroll along the pebbles and a swim in the warm Mediterranean Sea. Or why not head north to Dénia for a history lesson at Dénia Castle followed by a stroll around the charming old town with a well-deserved ice cream in hand.

This simple, fuss-free apartment is an ideal retreat for a coastal family getaway. It may not be the biggest, but it’s well-equipped and comfortable, with the sun-drenched balcony an added bonus. For some respite from the Costa Blanca sun, the communal swimming pool is a welcome sight, framed by towering palm trees. If you prefer not to drive, a car’s not essential here. A short walk from the apartment and you’ll find a selection of shops and restaurants, or for a stroll on sandy shores, Platja de l'Arenal beach is just 800 metres away.

This seaside haven in the heart of Javea Port is our kind of heaven. Tucked away and yet mere moments from La Grava beach, this ground floor two-bedroom home is pure boho-beach chic. Featuring a lovely, light filled open plan kitchen cum dining and living room, courtesy of floor to ceiling sliding glass doors which open out onto a cosy courtyard, this artful home boasts both style and substance. Nods to the nautical meet whitewashed walls and windows shutters while brand spanking new cabinetry meets worn wooden furniture, woven basket lights and colourful framed prints. 

Undoubtedly the star of the show, however, is the interior courtyard, with its traditional Tosca stone walls and Spanish style tiled floor – the perfect relaxing retreat come morning, noon or night. You’ll love rising early to catch the sunrise before taking your morning coffee out into the courtyard. Host cook offs and gather around the dining table for sociable meal times or head out for hours of sun-baked fun at the beach before meandering along to one of the many local seaside cafes for fresh food and uninterrupted Mediterranean views.

This immaculately presented villa is made for family holidays close to the sea. The picturesque historic town of Javea, with its fine sandy shores and water sport action, is within five kilometres of the villa – as are those seafront restaurants and bars for an easy bite to eat. Back home, kids will love you for the lengthy swimming pool and lawns for a runabout. And you’ll all appreciate those shady terraces with views of the surrounding Montgo Mountain when it’s time to beat the heat. And there’s no need to tussle for the best room here – each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and direct access to those stylish verandas outside.

Just 5 kilometres from the sandy Playa s'Arenal and surf school, the outdoor hangouts don't have to stop at this home. There's a sprawling garden and a private pool to enjoy in your downtime. Overlooking the countryside, the upstairs terrace is the go-to dining spot. You won't have access to the unoccupied parts of this villa. But it's best suited to families of up to six, as long as one guest doesn't mind sleeping on a pull-out bed. With an open-hearth fireplace, cosy winter getaways are on the cards, too.

At the foot of the majestic Montgo mountain, this villa is set within impressive grounds. Offering a private pool, hammock and alfresco seating, you can take your pick of outdoor spots from which to enjoy the panoramic views of the Alicante countryside. With plenty of open green space, the kids have somewhere to run around while the adults relax nearby. Close to the historic centre of Jávea Old Town, narrow streets offer a great family day out, but if you’d like to visit the beautiful Arenal beach then a car is recommended.

With sea views and plenty of spots to soak up the rays, this villa makes an ideal Costa Blanca retreat. Everyone will enjoy the swimming pool, while the covered terrace and sun-kissed sitting area are perfect for dinner and drinks in the coastal breeze. Sure, the design isn't the most modern, but there's a lot of room to spread out inside – not to mention it's kitted out with everything you need for a fuss-free stay. A car is a must here, as this home is located in the hills above the town. Still, it's just a short drive to Jávea's beaches, restaurants, and buzzing centre.

Sure, this apartment in the heart of Javea might be a little simple when it comes to interior design, but people don't come to this corner of Spain to be wowed by home decor – not when there's a wealth of exemplary beaches, hiking routes and seafront restaurants that lie within easy walking distance to explore. That's not to say you'll dread returning home, however. For instance, the balcony – while small – has a rather charming view of the town's port and the Mediterranean Sea stretching into the distance.

This apartment’s calm and comfortable aesthetic has been thoughtfully designed to maximise your coastal break. The compact kitchen is kitted out for Mediterranean bites whilst the living space is a perfect spot to enjoy a glass of Albariño – though we expect you’ll be most inclined to savour this from the armchairs on your terrace. Nothing will feel better than sinking into your sheets in your light-filled bedroom, french doors open, after a day soaking up the sun and swimming in the resort’s winding pool.

We love how well-positioned this apartment is. You’re just a short walk from the sands of Platja de l'Arenal – pick up a few delicacies and enjoy a picnic on the beach or sample the local cuisine from one of the town’s authentic sea-grazing tavernas.
