Amidst the dramatic backdrop of the sand-hued ancient castles and rolling hills of Plans de Sió sits this restored 16th-century farmhouse. Once a vineyard, the garden is now home to a stunning octagonal swimming pool, reminiscent of a Moorish plunge pool, a ping pong table, outdoor dining with a barbecue, and a wrap-around terrace overlooking the endless fields and forests. The view here is particularly breathtaking at sunset. Inside, the ancient stone walls are adorned with unique pieces by local artists and shelves show off trinkets from around the globe. The kitchen retains its old farmhouse charm, but shining chrome appliances give away the 21st-century make-over. A collection of outbuildings are now home to covered outdoor dining with the rustic simplicity of a monk’s refectory, and an old storeroom has been converted into a plush home cinema with velvet seats and perfect acoustics. Bedrooms feel hotel-grade luxurious, but what we really love are the retained old flourishes of the former farmhouse – stone tables for grinding corn, stone barrel rooms now holding bedrooms and a master bedroom in the old kitchen, still with its striking ancient hearth. Breakfast is also included every day.

Although the apartment's design isn't coherent or eye-catching throughout, it's clean, functional and extremely practical for exploring the city. The excellent shopping street, Passeig de Gracia is just two streets away, and La Dreta de l'Eixample neighbourhood boasts the highest concentration of Modernist buildings in Bacrelona. Stroll through the streets and discover works by Antoni Gaudí, Domènech i Montaner, Puig i Cadafalch and countless others and marvel at the beautifully ornate cornices and gigantic doorways at every turn.

Situated in Eixample, this home has you near the centre of the action, surrounded by world-class modernist architecture and a host of delicious restaurants and cafes. The home itself takes its style seriously, too. We love the old Barcelona tiles that line the floor of the living room and bedrooms. The rich red rose wallpaper and the pink accent wall complement them quite beautifully. The breakfast table has brilliant views over the city, while the kitchen is sleek and perfect for whipping up snacks. Recline on the massive grey sectional in style in the living room, or luxuriate in the tub. This home is an amalgamation of texture and material, making it a truly pleasing space to spend time in. However, when you’re ready to explore, walk just fifteen minutes to Casa Batlló, or twenty to Casa Mila-La Pedrera to get more of a taste of this unique city.

You'll love getting comfortable in the bright living room, perhaps opening a bottle of Spanish red wine, and planning your stay in the city. When you get hungry, you can whip up your favourite meal in the kitchen, before gathering around the chic glass table to enjoy your culinary creations – there are even a few flamingoes on the wall for company. However, we think the best part of this contemporary home has to be the balcony, a fantastic spot for people-watching and chilling out at all times of day. The surrounding area is famous for its modernist architecture, and you'll love wandering through the streets, dipping into local boutiques and cafés as you go. The breathtaking Parc Joan Miró is just a ten-minute walk away, where you'll find plenty of open space, while the Plaça d'Espanya is just a little further. And, with the nearest metro station just one block away, it's very straightforward to get around the city from here, should you want to travel further afield.

This modern, crowd-pleasing home is a picture of industrial chic nestled in-between the beach and Barcelona's historic Old Town. Stepping in to look around at the decor, you'll notice low-hanging lampshades, vibrant chairs and a quirky pallet coffee table that we really loved. Natural light pours into the apartment through crittall windows, while super high beamed ceilings and a clever layout make for a light and airy spot to unwind with friends or family after an afternoon spent sightseeing. Rustle up a plate of paella in the sleek metro-tiled kitchen – complete with a sociable breakfast bar to come together for a glass of Barolo. Better still, enjoy alfresco dining out on your private terrace with painted brick walls and garden furniture.  As for El Poblenou, it's a residential, quiet neighbourhood without the city noise – and yet under a twenty-minute wander from the iconic La Sagrada Familia.

The soothing blue tones of the living room and the colourful floor tiles make it a stylish sanctuary where you can relax when you're not exploring the hectic city. The balcony is another added bonus – it's the ideal spot to sip your morning coffee alfresco or indulge in a nightcap at the end of the day. And, the location in Eixample puts you in a fantastic spot for sightseeing. The area has the largest concentration of Art Nouveau buildings in Europe, and you'll love wandering through the streets and admiring the beautiful architecture. Plaça de Catalunya is less than ten minutes away, while Gaudi's stunning modernist works, Casa Batlló and Casa Mila are both reachable on foot in under twenty minutes.

Located on Barcelona's busiest shopping street brimming with stunning Modernist architecture, Gracia is central, stylish, and wonderfully homey. 
It's truly remarkable to be able to see two of Gaudi's masterpieces, Casa Battló and La Pedrera, from the balconies. And we absolutely fell in love with the classic interior design, the elegant arched doorways, the original cornices, and the lovely large kitchen. The wifi is exceptionally speedy, a cleaner comes to freshen up the place daily, and a concierge is on hand during the day in case you need help with anything.

Gracia

Situated a stone's throw from Passeig de Gràcia, this home is at the heart of the action. You'll find it on Gran de Gracia, nestled between Gracia and Eixample. Here, you're surrounded by an array of upmarket boutiques, bars and eateries, while Gaudi's masterpieces, Casa Milà and La Pedrera, are a ten-minute stroll away. Though being a six-minute walk from two metro stops, the city really is yours for the taking.

We love this home's elegant design aesthetic. Inside, it's a timeless canvas of high ceilings and wooden floors adorned with regal touches, from the stained glass windows to the glistening glass chandelier. The open-plan living area offers the perfect place for relaxation, including a cosy l-shaped sofa and a sweet balcony with picturesque views. After a restful slumber in the lavish bedrooms, start your days roosted here, sipping your morning coffee and soaking up the sun. After busy days exploring the city, gather around the dining table for a delicious feast prepared in the fully-equipped kitchen before slipping out for a walk at sunset.

This south-facing rooftop apartment is a real suntrap. Not only is the kitchen illuminated throughout the day, but all the bedrooms are blessed with large external windows too. And if there's one thing you can never have too much of in a home, it's light. We're in love with the kitchen and terrace, with views across the city and plenty of outdoor seating for everyone to enjoy breakfast in the sunshine. There's also a barbecue out here for alfresco summer evenings grilling dinner as the neighbourhood's residents return from work and things spring to life. While it might not be the most centrally located, the upmarket residential neighbourhood of Sarría offers a peaceful break from the bedlam of central Barcelona. Packed with posh homes, shops and restaurants, it was an independent town until 1921, when the city engulfed it. However, it still retains something of that small town Catalan charm without having to leave the city. If you're searching for an authentic Barcelona experience, then look no further.

Glasshouse

Fabulously located in the heart of Eixample, within easy walking distance of many of Barcelona's key sights, with a beautiful living space full of lovely period details and a spacious master-bedroom with its own private terrace, this home is a delight. Bedrooms two and three are both extremely small, but we won't hold this against an otherwise fab home. The living space might just be home to the most beautiful flooring in the Plum Collection – we are obsessed!

With floor-to-ceiling windows that offer views of Barcelona's most rebellious architecture, the best thing this home offers is sightseeing from the comfort of your sofa. Both the furniture and art are a pleasant unobtrusive mix of the old and new, showing that the host knows how to fill a space with meaningful pieces without making it look cluttered. But we have to admit – although it's well-designed, the layout of this home is a bit peculiar, with the kitchen fashioned inside a corridor and a tempered glass bathroom separating the second and third bedroom.

Say hello to your private roof terrace in Barcelona. With loungers and a patio set, it’s ideal for savouring morning coffee and sipping sundowners. You’ll have a beautiful view of Eixample, a neighbourhood full of Gaudi’s masterpieces – Casa Milà is just around the corner, a three-minute walk away, while Casa Batlló is eight minutes away. Plus, you can be at La Sagrada Familia, his unfinished masterpiece, in just seventeen minutes. Beyond the modernist architecture, you’ll find delicious tapas bars and boutique shopping. Back at home, a minimalist Scandi style works well to create a relaxing environment above the busy streets. Neutral colours and high-quality materials emphasize texture, but there are still a few details that remind us that we're situated in an old modernist building – such as the tempered glass above the sofa. Kick back and make use of the large TV and kitchen – after a day on your feet, it feels good to call this place home.
