Just looking at it, you wouldn’t expect Pulpo Gallego to be on the ground floor. It has most of the trappings of a loft, and wouldn’t feel too out of place in Williamsburg or Greenpoint. Maite’s done a lovely job setting it up. It’s been renovated in the past year or so, and even though it has a small and unusually shaped footprint, it easily feels large enough. You also have the benefit of being in Eixample, so getting around the city, either on foot or by public transport, is very simple.


Pulpo Gallego

Only a stone's throw from various cafes and a modern art gallery – welcome to L'Esquerra de l'Eixample. This apartment is an ideal base for romantic getaways and solo trips in Barcelona. We love the open-plan layout, where a monochromatic living room leads you onto a snug balcony for fresh-air hangouts. There's a desk tucked away in the bedroom for remote workers, too. As for getting around the city, you'll find bus stops and a bike-sharing station just outside your front door.

The surrounding Eixample area is famous for its art nouveau boulevards which are packed with boutiques and smart restaurants. If you like exploring cities on foot, then you can walk over to Gaudi's Casa Mila and the Sagrada Familia is a little further – otherwise, you can hop on the metro. Have a stroll around the stylish boutiques surrounding Plaça de Catalunya, or go for lunch at one of the restaurants here. The iconic Sagrada Familía is a short ride away too or head to Mercat de la Boqueria for some ingredients for dinner back at this home. Although, maybe don’t plan on cooking anything that needs a lot of prep as there’s not much counter space in the kitchen. Afterwards, you can cool off on the balcony with a glass of something chilled.

You can still enjoy a fantastic view of the surrounding architecture while tucking into a hearty meal at the dining table.

The spacious kitchen provides plenty of space for you and your loved ones to cook together while socialising over a bottle of wine. If you have work to do, don't worry; with a desk that's best suited for a laptop, you'll have everything you need to get things done. Feeling tired at the desk after writing those emails?  Take a snooze on the daybed behind you to recharge your energy for the rest of the day.

Located in Eixample, you've got a fantastic choice of restaurants, and even a bakery, in close proximity to the home. If you've got a competitive side, challenge your loved ones at the snooker and pool club found nearby.

Stay in the bustling Eixample Esquerra neighbourhood and be just a short walk from many of the city's best sightseeing attractions – from the Plaça de Catalunya to Gaudí's Casa Milà, and the Cathedral of Barcelona. Make sure you pack your earplugs if you're a light sleeper – the home's central spot means it might be a little noisy. Inside, it's a bright space, especially when the balcony doors are thrown open. There's a home office space as well as a desk in the main bedroom, making it an ideal base for those visiting on business. 

The Antiga

This central spot in Barcelona's Eixample Esquerra neighbourhood puts the city at your fingertips. Whether you fancy late-night bars and local eateries or world-class museums and lazy days on Barceloneta Beach, you'll be well placed to explore – especially since the nearby metro makes getting around a breeze. Stylish and sleek, this pad packs a lot into its petite layout. The kitchen is compact but well-equipped and a separate office is perfect for business travellers. But the cherry on top is the quaint terrace, where you can unwind with a glass of sangria as the sun goes down. It's a bit overlooked by the neighbouring buildings, but outdoor space in the city centre is too good to pass up.

The apartment is fairly simple but offers flexible sleeping arrangements, including a living room sofa bed for a sixth guest. The Juliet balcony is a highlight – just the spot to stand and enjoy a glass of sangria, while the dining room is perfect for family nights dining at home. Having said that, its stellar locale means that you’re never far from a restaurant serving up authentic Spanish dishes. Step out onto Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, and you’ll have shops, galleries and food markets at your fingertips.

With a harmonious design, this cosy apartment takes inspiration from the beautiful themes of Indonesia. Although the overall size is small, it creates a much more intimate feel in the home. While enjoying your morning cup of coffee, open the balcony doors to observe the bustling streets of Eixample and let the breeze flow in. There's plenty of natural light here, which is ideal for the plants that can be found around the flat; our particular favourite is the monstera. With a selection of bars and restaurants within walking distance, this apartment is perfect for a romantic getaway or a trip with friends.
