The two comfortable bedrooms, meanwhile, offer a blissful night’s sleep in their plush beds, as well as memorable wake-ups thanks to their Juliet balconies with wide-sweeping views over the Eixample’s rooftops 

When you’re ready to go out and explore, make a beeline for Gaudí’s colourful Casa Batlló or walk twenty-five minutes to visit the city’s famous Sagrada Familia. You’re also an eight-minute walk from both Casa Milà and Plaça de Catalunya, while the Gothic Quarter is twenty minutes away on foot.

Weave through the Gothic Quarter’s charming streets – stop for a coffee on La Rambla and pore over the masterpieces in the Picasso Museum. And when the day draws to a close, take the twenty-four-minute bus trip to Barceloneta Beach to watch the sun set over the glittering Mediterranean.

Back at this home, open the French doors to the balcony and have a seat on the comfy sofa after all that sightseeing. We love the high ceilings here and traditional wall mouldings. High ceilings and tall windows mean that the interior feels bright and airy, but there's also a Juliet balcony if you want to feel the breeze on your face at any point. There's a lot to like about the design too, with wooden furnishings and surfaces going nicely with the cool grey tiles and eclectic selection of objets d'art. We're fans of the exposed brickwork in the master bedroom, which adds a loft feel to the space, as well as the pristine subway tiling in the bathrooms.

When it comes to sightseeing, the place to start has to be Casa Milà, which lies five minutes' walk from the home. One of Gaudí's other famous creations, La Sagrada Familia, can be reached in twenty-five minutes on foot, too. The Gothic Quarter takes a similar amount of time in another direction.

When you’re staying here, it’s far too easy to run into striking architecture at every turn. And at just an eight-minute walk from shimmering Casa Batlló, this home makes it even easier.

Arriving at its yellow entrance, this standout block is built in a traditional, Spanish Colonial style. This old-world grandeur continues through the front door, in majestic hardwood, with a solid marble staircase leading up to your apartment – but the interiors are a pleasant contrast.

Pout yourself a tempranillo and take a wander around this modern, Scandi-style home. Huge windows lined with railings along a balconette are perfect for peering over with your wine glass in hand. The zen-like lounge offers somewhere understated and calming for you to relax in after exploring the bustling locale. A sleek, matte grey kitchen tops it all off – a lovely little spot where you can prepare ‘pa amb tomàquet’ and a bowl of juicy Spanish olives.

Live like a local in this smart Barcelona apartment, located in the vibrant Eixample district. You'll love getting comfortable in the bright living room, perhaps opening a bottle of Spanish red wine, and planning your stay in the city. When you get hungry, you can whip up your favourite meal in the kitchen, before gathering around the chic glass table to enjoy your culinary creations – there are even a few flamingoes on the wall for company. However, we think the best part of this contemporary home has to be the balcony, a fantastic spot for people-watching and chilling out at all times of day. The surrounding area is famous for its modernist architecture, and you'll love wandering through the streets, dipping into local boutiques and cafés as you go. The breathtaking Parc Joan Miró is just a ten-minute walk away, where you'll find plenty of open space, while the Plaça d'Espanya is just a little further. And, with the nearest metro station just one block away, it's very straightforward to get around the city from here, should you want to travel further afield.

Let's kick off with the location first with this home – it's fantastic. The apartment is within walking distance of Plaça de Catalunya and the Arc de Triomf, as well as all the restaurants and bars of Eixample. Culture lovers, on the other hand, can visit the nearby Picasso Museum and the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art. The apartment itself has a Juliet-style balcony with views over the La Rambla de Catalunya. We should point out that if you're a group of four, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the already compact living room. But that's probably a small price to pay for such a great address.

We love the ample natural light that fills each room – especially the living area and main bedroom that boast French doors leading out onto Juliet balconies. Whether you perch here with your morning coffee or with a sundowner before hitting the city’s tapas bars, you’ll love looking out over your leafy street and across the Eixample’s rooftops. 

When it comes to sightseeing, you’ve got plenty of shops, restaurants and bars to explore right on your front step, while Gaudí’s elaborate Casa Milà is a twenty-minute walk away. You’re also a twenty-five-minute stroll from bustling Plaça d'Espanya and a thirty-five-minute walk from the famous Sagrada Familia.


Modernist Times

Just a short distance from Plaça de Catalunya and Las Ramblas, this home is all about the location for us. With plenty of public transport links nearby, getting around Barcelona is a breeze and local restaurants will have you sampling tapas in no time. While the apartment isn’t the biggest and it lacks some natural light, it has everything needed for a central base. With one bedroom, the addition of the Murphy bed is a nice touch that accommodates a further two guests, perfect for friends or family on a city break together.
