The local area is home to Gaudí masterpieces such as Casa Milà, an eleven-minute walk away, and this striking flat certainly does its best to compete. Starting in the living space, the exposed brickwork of the vaulted ceiling is sure to catch your eye. Colourful, oversized, abstract art adorns the walls, and art-deco-style furniture invites you in to settle down. All of this is illuminated by natural light flooding in from the glass doors of your private terrace, our favourite part of the home. Sip a glass of wine next to the olive tree while you gaze out to views of modernist buildings and blue skies. If you head back down to ground level, check out the main thoroughfare to find an array of vibrant bars and restaurants where you can spend the evening. As the Diagonal metro stop is only a six-minute walk from home, you’ll be able to explore other areas of the city too. Did someone say ‘beach day’?

Impeccably clean, cosy and comfortable it's perfect for longer stays. The bedrooms are spacious and the storage space is generous. 
The wifi is exceptionally speedy and the well-organised kitchen is fit for purpose. The bathrooms are a little dated for our liking, but they're functional nonetheless. And as it's in a quiet residential area, a good night's sleep and total tranquillity are guaranteed. Nearby parks, shopping areas, cafes, and interesting sights are all closeby.

Such is the great design of this Eixample apartment, there are balconies leading off from both of the bedrooms and the large living area. We can guarantee that these outdoor spaces will be a godsend on sunny afternoons, which are not unheard of in Barcelona.

These doors to the outdoor space also have the added benefit of bringing plenty of natural light into the interior, which dances pleasingly off the grey wooden floor. The furnishings throughout are Scandi in style, with a preference for wood and clean lines, although both the kitchen and bathroom are more contemporary in style.

When you fancy seeing a little more of the city, the iconic Casa Milà takes ten minutes to reach on foot and another one of Gaudi's finished projects, Casa Batlló, takes only slightly longer. A little further afield, Tibidabo theme park is a forty-minute journey on public transport.

We do love exploring cities on foot but Barcelona is a big city so a metro system that is quick, reliable, and inexpensive is always helpful. Plus, you're just three minutes away from the closest metro, Muntaner. From there, you can get to some of Barcelona's famous hotspots easily. Gothic Quarter, Sant Pau Recinte Modernista, La Sagrada Familia, and many more, are all reachable within twenty-five minutes from door-to-door. 

If you want to stretch your legs, Parc del Turó is a particularly lovely place to have a stroll, just an eight-minute walk away. The mystical winding paths take you to an oval-shaped pond, covered with lily pads. For a different kind of park, head to Park Güell and admire the distinct Catalonian architecture of Gaudí. You can get there by metro in twenty-five minutes, or walk along and enjoy exploring the streets of Barcelona for thirty-eight. All this walking is sure to make you hungry, and Barcelona certainly isn't short of its restaurants. If you want to stay in your neighbourhood, Bar Omar is just a four-minute walk away and does incredible tapas. Or, head to PATRÓN, a three-minute walk from home, for incredible seafood and live music.

Something of a slow-burner, Oliana grows on you the longer you stay. There’s enough to remind you that you’re in Barcelona – the brick ceiling, in particular, keeps you anchored in the city, as does the view of Tibidado. It’s not especially lavish, but there’s something genuine about it, and that also extends to the surrounding area. There are still tourists about (this is Barcelona, after all), but not in the droves you might get in other neighbourhoods.

Eixample is the residential heart of Barcelona and famous for its modernist architecture – a prime example being the handsome building that this apartment sits within.

Inside, the design is a little more contemporary than the exterior, although there's a preference for mid-century furnishings that are currently en vogue. The white walls and bare wooden floors are reminiscent of some of the city's modern art galleries, especially with the large art prints dotted about the place. As well as that, the kitchen is both sleekly finished and decently sized, just in case you fancy a home-cooked dinner at any point.

The home's biggest perk, however, has to be the long balcony that stretches across the front of the address and overlooks the street below. Although it's not large enough to sit out on, it's still more than big enough for a burst of fresh air and a spot of people-watching. The tall doors leading out to this space also bring plenty of natural light into the interior, as well.

When you want to see a little more of the city, this apartment puts you in an excellent location to do so. As well as a wide range of restaurants and nightlife venues in the immediate vicinity, there are some of Gaudi's most famous projects to be discovered within walking distance, including Casa Batlló under a mile away. Barceloneta Beach is only 2.3 miles away when the weather calls for sunbathing and swimming in the Med.

This cosy apartment lies in the L'Eixample district, with its own private balcony. The central location means some noise, and parking might be tricky, but the lively locale makes it the perfect spot for getting to know the city on foot. The kitchen is on the smaller side, so you'll definitely want to take advantage of nearby eateries. With a laptop-friendly workspace and enough room on the balcony to sit with an evening sangria, this home is suited for all types of trips.

Getting to Know You

When you’re staying in the classy and vibrant region of Gràcia, you need an apartment to match. Three minutes from the Fontana metro, and four from the bustling main boulevard, this home is ready to meet your needs. Stepping inside to original tiled floors, exposed brickwork, and rich wooden French doors to the balcony, this is a space where you can relax in style. The interior designer took inspiration from Ribeira Sacra, one of Spain’s most important wine regions. You’ll notice cork detailing throughout the home, as well as other subtle homages to the much-loved tipple – we love the handmade, cork headboard in the master bedroom. If all this makes you thirsty for a glass of vino, your neighbourhood has plenty of options for elegant bars and restaurants. However, we think local sights are in order first. One of Gaudí’s lesser-known pieces, Casa Vicens, is just a four-minute walk. Its chequered tiles and bright colours are as awe-inspiring as you’d expect, without the queues of sights like Casa Milà. Still, when it’s just a sixteen-minute walk, you might as well visit the whole collection.

In the elegant Vila de Gràcia barrio, you’re in for a treat if you’re looking for a more realistic experience of Barcelona living. Just over 3 km away from the bustling tourists in the Gothic Quarter, this region is full of restaurants, theatres, cinemas, independent boutiques, and of course some Gaudí charm. This apartment is just a four-minute walk from Casa Vicens, a striking example of one of the architect’s earlier works. But unlike this building and its surroundings, this home feels more like a Japanese mountain retreat. Step inside to wood-panelled walls and fabrics, woven feature pieces, and a mural of swallows and bamboo bringing a zen-like state to the apartment. While there’s still a taste of traditional Catalan elements, such as patterned tiles on the floor, and a classic wrought-iron balconette, the decor simply oozes Japan. In the serene bedroom, keep your head down at the workspace, then step into the lounge when the clock hits 5 pm to turn up the record player and sip chilled cava. For a weekend escape from this peaceful palace, it’s just an eighteen-minute walk to the colourful, awe-inspiring mosaics of Park Güell – quite the contrast.

Blessed with bold modern design, Carbon Star is the kind of home you'd expect to see in the 'it' neighbourhood of a city. Sarrià was historically the opposite – a refuge for the city elite to escape the noise and engage in some r&r, a tradition dutifully honoured by the building's offers of luxurious facilities. This home is closer to an aparthotel than a homey private residence, but we couldn't complain too much in the presence of carefully curated art and beautiful Scandi-inspired furniture. 

Carbon Star

You’ll find this apartment in the Sant Gervasi neighbourhood, where fine dining establishments line the Avenida Diagonal, and Turo Parc is a tranquil spot to enjoy a picnic. For trips to Barceloneta Beach or the Gothic Quarter, there is a bus stop a short walk away. Back at the pad, rustling up home-cooked meals in the well-appointed kitchen is soundtracked by an album played on the turntable. Outside, there's a private balcony for enjoying a glass of your favourite tipple.

The Art of Style

You're never far from the action at this smart bolthole set in a happening pocket of the Dreta de l'Eixample – famed for its iconic Gaudí architecture, chic boutiques and countless tapas bars. While there's no outdoor space (this is central Barcelona, after all), the separate office space will come in handy for guests in the city for work. If three of you share, one guest may feel they've pulled the short straw with the smaller single bedroom without a window. But don't let that be the deal breaker. When every inch of a house is this curated and beautiful, it's hard to say we 'tested' it –the beginning of our experience with Carbon Fibre was more of a joyful exploration of the designer furniture, characterful art and the building's luxurious facilities. Of course, this living arrangement is close to an aparthotel than a private home, so there's a limit to how characterful it feels. However, the natural light is amazing and we couldn't wait to test the perks of staying here – we recommend you start by the pool.

Carbon Fibre

You’ll find this apartment in Gràcia, a cool neighbourhood home to Catalan cafes and laidback wine bars. The famous Casa Milà is within walking distance if you don’t mind stretching your legs, and the Sagrada Família is a short metro ride away. Back at the pad, expect design-led interiors and all the accoutrements you’ll need for a no-stress stay. Business travellers will be pleased to know the place is equipped with super fast wi-fi and an office space with a laptop-friendly desk.

Sand & Clay

Survey chic cafés, boutiques and bodegas from this trendy loft apartment in untouristed Gràcia. Mix up a pitcher of sangria and flop into a bamboo lounger on the roof – moving is strictly optional on this vacation. If the heat gets too much though, retreat to you air-conditioned duplex where you’ll find expertly curated, high-end furniture to curl up on. The kitchen comes with a sleek marble worktop, cookware and coffee maker. Should you need to work from home, you’ll find an unfussy office upstairs. There’s also a second, smaller private terrace next to the master bedroom, ideal for your morning coffee.

La Pared

With vaulted ceilings and azulejo-tiled floors, the Wind Vault is a perfect stay for those who will appreciate touches of Catalan design. But there's more to this home than just tradition – the headboard in the master bedroom is made of upcycled windows and we can't ignore the beautifully crafted French doors either. Located in the residential streets of Gràcia, you'll get to enjoy authentic Catalan flavours with easy access to the Casa Mila and Eixample's grandeur. 

Wind Vault

This home is every inch as fashionable as Barcelona itself. From the original tiled floor to the cast-iron columns covered in creeping ivy, it’s effortlessly elegant. Light streams in from the towering French windows that open up onto three different balconies overlooking the charming Calle d’Enric Granados. Our favourite spot is the cosy nook in the bay window, perfect for curling up with a good book or watching the world go by. There’s a custom-made functional workspace should you need to get any work done while you’re in town, although we don’t think you’ll be able to resist the lure of the delights down below. The street is full of interesting boutiques, cute cafes, antique treasures and a few excellent record shops. Get your culture fix at an art gallery before an essential pit stop at one of the many restaurants for authentic Spanish tapas. Once the day is done, you’ll be ready to close the shutters and sink into a bubble bath in the clawfoot tub. 

Spanish Swoon

Setting a sophisticated tone with its grey and black colour palette, this home is an ode to style and Barcelona’s glorious sunshine. 

We love the open-plan living area’s careful curation – from its contemporary furnishings to its textured pillows and colourful feature rug – and the dazzling amount of light that pours in from two sets of glass doors, each leading out onto a separate balcony. The first, a petite outdoor spot, is ideal for enjoying your morning coffee alfresco while people-watching over the wrought-iron frame, while the second, a larger terrace, is decked out with a bistro-style table and chairs for open-air dining. 
 
The main bedroom also leads out onto the larger terrace allowing you to catch some rays right after waking up, while the second bedroom is equally chic with its muted colour scheme and comfortable bed. 
 
In terms of location, you’re ideally placed between the city’s Eixample and Sant Gervasi neighbourhoods. Head to Avinguda Diagonal – a one-minute walk away – to peruse its countless shops, restaurants and bars or stroll over to Gaudí’s elaborate Casa Milà, an eighteen-minute walk away. You’re also a seven-minute walk from leafy Parc del Turó, while the city’s famous Sagrada Familia is just over thirty minutes away on foot. 

City Rhythms

Boasting a rustic-inspired interior, this Sant Gervasi home is the perfect place to retreat after a day exploring Barcelona's bustling streets. The open-plan living space lets everyone come together over drinks and food from the well-equipped kitchen, and you can shut away the television to ensure the focus is on the conversation. If you fancy some time to yourselves, the small balcony is there for romantic glasses of wine. Outside, the streets nearby provide plenty of eateries and bars, while La Bonanova Station is just a nine-minute walk.

Just a Little Bit

Even though Carbon Form is boldly designed and full of colour, the feeling inside this high-end home is that of peace. The living room has a huge sofa that almost draws you in, while the kitchen boasts a sociable bench that makes you want to sit and enjoy a cuppa next to the window. This home is closer to an aparthotel than a characterful stay, but we couldn't complain too much in the presence of carefully curated art and luxurious in-house facilities, ranging from a rooftop pool to a resident-only sauna.

Carbon Form

Inspired by lush jungles and Catalan tradition, this bright flat in Barcelona’s Gràcia neighbourhood is a tonic to come home to after a busy day exploring the city’s sights. Your eyes will immediately be drawn to the main room’s domed brick ceiling and the pretty tiles that give it plenty of Spanish flair. We love the bright yellow sofa here and the floating shelves decked out in houseplants and ambient ornaments. Open up the living room’s French doors for coffee on the balcony, where two Acapulco chairs invite you to gaze out onto the city in style. With both bedrooms boasting their own private terraces though, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to outdoor lounging. When you’re ready to explore, Gaudí s Casa Milà is just a fifteen-minute walk away, while in Gràcia itself, you’ll find a cornucopia of Catalan cafes, bohemian boutiques and welcoming wine bars. After a day of adventure, come back home for drinks on the balcony, before sitting down to an intimate meal around the dining table while your favourite tunes play on the Bluetooth speakers. 


Apothecary's Retreat

Dressed in sophisticated shades of grey and white, this beautifully curated apartment fits right in with its elegant Gràcia locale. From its cut-out statement walls to its arched interior windows and wood floors, there’s a cool sense of refinement here from the moment you walk through the door. 

We love the open-plan nature of the living area with its distinct areas that flow seamlessly from one to the other. Spend your mornings relaxing in the hammock with a good book and your morning coffee, and snuggle up on the sofa while a record plays each evening before sitting down to a celebratory tapas meal in the dining room. 

You’re all set too should you need to catch up on work with a dedicated desk space at the ready, while sleep comes easily in the chic boho-inspired bedrooms, leaving you feeling rested and raring to go for a busy day of work or play. 

When it comes to exploring outside your cool pad, you’ll find Gràcia’s 19th-century boulevards and pedestrian lanes filled with indie boutiques, galleries, arthouse cinemas and trendy Catalan bistros around Plaça de la Vila de Gràcia. You’re also within walking distance of the eye-catching Casa Mila, as well as Casa Vicens.
