Away from Lanzarote's well-trodden tourist trail, this home offers a peaceful escape in the northeast of the island. Set on the grounds of a 300-year-old farm just outside the village of Guatiza, it offers easy access to the volcanic landscapes of Tenegüime National Park and the waters of the North Atlantic. Its rustic interior decor is in keeping with its rural location, but given Lanzarote's fantastic year-round climate, we imagine you'll spend most of your time in the courtyard garden surrounded by tropical plants. You're within a short stroll of a small supermarket and several bars and restaurants, plus César Manrique's world-famous cactus garden. Meanwhile, there's a beautiful golden beach at Arrieta, a ten-minute drive away.

Prepare to have your mind blown at this contemporary beach pad with the most magnificent panoramas of Maspalomas Dunes we ever did see from a private rooftop terrace.

You could easily while away a whole day at this immaculate home, hopping between that top-floor terrace with an outdoor shower to cool off and downstairs on the shady veranda for lazy alfresco breakfasts and post-lunch siestas. 

But when the sea finally calls, you won't have far to go. You've direct access to the Maspalomas Beach promenade and its silky golden sands (one hundred metres from your door, to be precise) – meaning you can nip back for a cool drink or nibbles whenever you please. Or mosey over to Maspalomas' seafront cafes and restaurants within walking distance to grab a bite to eat. Just be sure to head home for sunset – the views are out of this world way up high on the terrace.

When it's finally time to lay your heads, there's room for all ten of you to spill out here. A great option for friends or extended family sharing, the five bedrooms are spaced apart across two floors and all offer en-suite bathrooms to give guests that extra privacy. We'll leave you to decide though who lucks out on that enormous main suite bringing hacienda vibes and a sea view to boot.

This home is a rare find – it has a peaceful and private setting, and yet it's just a few minutes walk from the historic city of La Orotava. Surrounded by a plantation of avocados, relax on the multiple terraces (five no less), cool off from the Tenerife sun in the infinity waterfall pool with its Atlantic Ocean vistas or unwind in the hot tub. 

We love the professionally designed gardens – our favourite spot is the yoga/meditation corner –  very zen. There's a fantastic outdoor kitchen, too – cook up a feast while you enjoy the fabulous views of Mount Teide, the forests and hills. As sunset arrives, pick some mint for your mojitos from the herb garden or feel free to pick a lemon for your G&T. As the light continues to fade, gather around the designer fire pit. 

Or, on cooler evenings, cosy up in front of the wood-burning stove indoors. Here, you'll find gorgeous beamed, vaulted ceilings, as well as original pictures and sculptures.

There's plenty to do out and about too. Hire a bike and explore the terrain (many professional cycling teams train here). If you prefer something a bit less energetic, there are three golf courses within easy reach, including one designed by Seve Ballestros. The nearest beach is 3 kilometres away, along with the popular resort beaches and Lido in Puerto de la Cruz, while La Orotava has an array of cafes, shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance.

You've got the best of both worlds at this contemporary villa, set within one of Gran Canaria's most exclusive golf retreats and just an eight-minute drive from expansive golden sands and rolling dunes of Maspalomas beach and Playa del Inglés.

Friends getting together for a holiday will love how spacious this home feels, with two bedrooms spaced apart across the two-storey villa and offering up private shower rooms and direct access to suntrap verandas. But it's that outdoor terrace downstairs with a private heated pool and views of the fairways and mountains beyond that's caught our attention – it's the perfect spot to toast the day with drinks and a barbecue.

When it's time to hit the fairways of the resort's 18-hole golf course, it's just a 200-metre shot away. However, you don't need to be a dab hand with the clubs to enjoy the perks of this resort. Located on the grounds of a luxurious hotel complex, there are plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained (for an additional fee) – think playroom, playground, and kids club. And a spa and shared sunset infinity pool and bar for post-game relaxation. When thoughts turn to food, book yourself a table at the resort's renowned brasserie or mooch into Maspalomas for the evening at one of its smart seafront tavernas.

Inside, you’ll find a cosy and welcoming space, with a living room inviting you to kick back and relax in front of the wood burner. Enjoy an evening of movies and conversation, or step into the well-equipped kitchen and rustle up a delicious supper which you can share with your companion at the table.

Situated in one of the best areas of Playa del Inglés, just a few steps from the Yumbo Shopping Centre, restaurants, and the beach. It is located in a very quiet holiday complex, has quality materials and finishes and an unbeatable distribution. It has a terrace with views, two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a communal swimming pool. The house, refurbished in 2023, with a modern style, is distributed as follows: Entering the house, we find the living room-kitchen. On one side there is a bathroom with shower and the 2 bedrooms. On the other side of the accommodation, we find the living room and the terrace, which has an outdoor chair and dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped, with dishwasher and kitchen utensils. There is free high-speed wifi in all rooms and air conditioning in the lounge."

This is one of the more minimalist homes we’ve seen in Tenerife, with white walls and clean, unfussy architectural lines throughout. However, it’s anything but barren – with this view of the harbour visible from almost every window, any other adornment would be like gilding the lily. Bright artworks and natural materials add understated warmth to interiors, but the star of the show is the outdoor area – swinging seats, lounge chairs, a lush green lawn, and a sparkling pool make Lemon Crush a refreshing little island oasis in the heart of Tenerife.

Surrounded by palm trees and greenery, this Tenerife home transports you to scenes of South East Asia; an exotic paradise alive with botanica. Your own terracotta temple worships nature to the fullest, with hidden coves of seated areas, terraces, a pond, and trickling fountain. Alongside the tranquil beauty, the outdoors comes with a touch of fun and games too, boasting a children’s playhouse and flat lawn for a kick about. There’s a stone patio with a built-in barbecue for outdoor dining and a pool to dive straight into. Inside, wooden floors and ceilings, a tiled kitchen, and exposed beams carry that rustic feel. Situated within a villa complex less than ten minutes' drive from Maspolamas, this recently renovated home will sing to those fond of contemporary design.

Large windows and glass doors bring plenty of natural light into the interior and this asset works particularly well with the wealth of reflective surfaces and stark white walls. There's a preference for minimalism in everything from the sleek kitchen to the pared-back approach to decoration, and we think the host has nailed it.

Besides, you might not actually be spending all that much time indoors, what with the swimming pool out in the garden, along with the barbecue and covered terrace complete with a lounge and alfresco dining table. Here, it's welcomingly easy to make the most of Gran Canaria's year-round warmth.

Elsewhere in the complex, there's a golf course 200m away from the home, as well as entertainment for children and a couple of shops and restaurants. You can also reach many of the beaches that run along the southern coastline of the island in under ten minutes' drive, while the Dunes of Maspalomas don't take much longer, either.

Hikers will love exploring the trails through the Barranco de Erques national park (a fifteen-minute drive), while families can enjoy a fun-filled day at Aqualand Costa Adeje, also fifteen minutes away by car.
