Even before entering the house, we fell under the spell of its surroundings – the glistening pool, the stunning views, the huge garden, and the outdoor dining area, inviting you to plan those magical alfresco feasts that go on long into the warm, Spanish nights. Come inside and be prepared for a beautiful treat – what the home’s façade promises with its old-world glamour, the interior more than delivers. We love the stone and wood details, the unique art pieces and furnishings, and the cosy, inviting ambience. Perfectly positioned on a hillside, a ten-minute drive from the pretty town of Begur, this villa is all about sea views and laidback living. Your days will be spent on your private terrace, soaking up every last drop of the Costa Brava sunshine. Perhaps you’ll settle into a lounger with an ice-cold beverage in hand or maybe you’ll swim gentle laps in the glittering pool. When it’s time to eat, set the table on the balcony ready for a Catalan feast whipped up in the no-frills kitchen and if you’d like a quiet moment with your holiday read, the window seat in the bright living space is an excellent spot. Stretch your legs with a twenty-five-minute walk to Sa Tuna, an idyllic cove with a sandy beach – it was our favourite spot to while away the long afternoons. Head home before dusk with a bottle of Cava and watch the sunset melt into the ocean from your enviable vantage point.

The private terrace offers an idyllic entryway to this charming two-story abode, as well as a spot for golden hour sundowners. Spread over two floors (prepare to climb some stairs), the ground floor features a beamed living area with a double sofa bed to accommodate your third and fourth guests. The upper mezzanine offers a comfortable bedroom with a desk and swing seat to unwind in. Located in the medieval town of Vilaür, you can explore its rich history and 13th-century Romanesque architecture on your doorstep, while the beaches of La Escala lie 18km away.

This home is in the heart of the development, its verdant green lawn and deep infinity pool looking out over a canal. If you've got a boat, there's space to moor it. Failing that, we suggest pulling up a chair, either right on the canal or the upstairs balcony, and watching the world float past. With a lived-in vibe and some unique design choices, this home is one-of-a-kind from the pink mosaic tiles of the bathroom to the bright orange bedrooms – kids will love it. There's also plenty of space to entertain the whole gang, with two kitchens, a study, a games room complete with consoles, and an open-plan living area. Come sunset, there's only one place to be, and that's on the top floor watching the last rays set over the terracotta rooftops.

Although imposing from a distance, the interior radiates comfort and homeliness to make your break as cosy as possible, but not without a little dash of pizazz. Wander across three floors to find your favourite spot in this home – we can guarantee for some it will be in the games room where you can pass hours playing billiards, whereas other may take most favourably to the minibar and dancefloor. 

As fun as it is indoors, the outdoor area has even more to offer. Splash in the pool or challenge each other to a game of tennis, but don’t forget to unwind on the sunloungers as you kick back with an ice-cold drink and good book. 

Light the barbecue for lunch and make use of the sprawling terrace to socialise with wine, nibbles and good conversation. For a bit of alone-time, you can take to one of the swing chairs to admire the view, or stretch yourself all the way out on one of the hammocks to have an afternoon nap in the shade of the trees. 

Costa Brava has an arresting Mediterranean coastline and we encourage you to explore it. Start by taking a twenty-five-minute walk to the soft sand of Llafranc beach. When you’re not enjoying alfresco meals at home, you might stroll to find some choice restaurants not even ten minutes away.

This lovely home in Llafranc is perfect for those looking for absolute rest and relaxation. Boasting countryside views, this home is close to the beach and the bars of the town, while being nicely removed from tourist traps. Llafranc is a quiet part of Spain on the Costa Brava, with a stunning coastline and gorgeous beaches. 

The home is bright and cheerful, with bold splashes of colour that add warmth to the neutral palette. Your eye will most often be drawn outside, through the floor-to-ceiling windows that lead onto the large terrace. Trees surround the home, making it feel nicely secluded despite being part of a resort. 

When you’re not by the shared swimming pool – which is huge and inviting – you’ll likely spend most of your time on the terrace. There are sun loungers so sun-worshippers will be content, and there’s a lovely dining area too. You might like to drive fourteen minutes to beautiful Calella de Palafrugell for lunch by the water, and then spend your evenings grilling up local seafood on the barbecue. 

The clear water and soft sand of Platja El Cau are a seven-minute walk away, so days at the beach couldn’t be easier. To really take in the glorious coastline, walk ten minutes to the viewpoint at Mirador de la Divina Pastora. It’s a wonderful spot for sunset.

But we wouldn’t blame you if you ended up spending all your time at this luxurious, old-world villa instead. Sun terraces and shaded nooks offer sunseekers and wallflowers alike a place to spend the day. The fountain-fed Roman swimming pool invites you for a dip on a hot day and, wandering the expansive grounds, you’ll stumble across a tennis court and games area with ping pong. Outdoor dining is a treat with a huge table for the whole group in front of the summer kitchen and, if you’re hosting a special event, a marquee can be set up on the lawn.

The foundations of this home date back to the 14th century, and inside you can still get a feel for the medieval in the vaulted basement where you’ve got your own private spa. Down here, there’s an indoor swimming pool, steam room and sauna. Various lounges and sitting rooms allow the whole group to spread out and our favourite has to be the Rib-vaulted grand lounge with its Baroque painted ceiling harking back to a bygone era. Perhaps spend the evening taking it back to analogue in the library or snooker room. 

Spanish Nobility

Say hello to one very swanky cube. Just a ten-minute drive from Lloret de Mar with its world-class beaches and electric nightlife, this home offers you peace and tranquillity while still being close to the action. Inside, you’ll find wooden floors, cool, contemporary furnishings and vibrant pops of colour that brilliantly offset the whitewashed walls. The real wow factor is the living space’s wrap-around floor-to-ceiling windows though – take in views over Canyelles’ shimmering bay from your sofa, or better yet, head to the upstairs terrace to enjoy breakfast while feasting on the vistas. Afternoons call for lazing by the pool and soaking up the sun on one of the many loungers, while the little ones will love the play area and the dedicated children’s bedroom full of soft toys. Drive less than ten minutes to sandy Platja de Canyelles to dip your toes in the sea before coming back home for a soak in the sunken tub followed by a barbecue feast. When it’s time to turn in, watch the moon rise over the hills from the bedroom’s letterbox windows or private terraces before falling into a wonderfully peaceful night’s sleep.

El Cubo

Floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors allow the backdrop of the sea to be the mountains during your stay at this apartment on the Costa Brava. Sunny and finished with all the modern conveniences, a family will find great ease whilst at this home. Waking up to gorgeous views over the sea while you enjoy breakfast around the dining table will be a delight that won’t get boring. Both the master and children’s bunkroom opens up onto the terrace overhanging the sands of Empuriabrava beach. Speaking of, getting to and fro the golden sands and turquoise waters for water sports and sunbathing is easy, so you’ll have no trouble popping back to the terrace for lunch. The canals of the surrounding town, known as the Venice of Spain, are one of its defining attributes, so when you’re not with the kids engaging in activities, you can head out on a nightlife scene as vibrant and luxurious as some of Europe’s other seaside destinations. 

Bravissima

Just off the beaten track from Girona is this cottage straight out of a storybook. Rustic and old-fashioned yet absolutely charming, the home is infused with a homey, Spanish colonial vibrance that warmly welcomes a family or group of friends. Wooden trusses criss-cross the ceilings and shutters open up and look out onto the Spanish countryside from various rooms. Days will be spent either around the flora filled pool garden, dining in the shade of a stone archway, or at the beach which is a quick drive from the cottage. The home is located within a small and sought-after resort with its own nearby castle, prestigious golf courses and in the summer months, a classical music concert. 

Spanish Story Book

Sitting on the hillside just outside of Sa Riera and Begur, The property enjoys a peaceful setting with a view down to the sea in the distance, which guests can enjoy whilst spending leisurely days in the sun with family and friends. Surrounded by dense vegetation and regional plants, the villa boasts a unique appearance with a vibrant red facade and traditional terracotta tiled roof. The spacious interior features a well-designed layout that maximizes the surrounding views, while characterful furnishings and natural tones create a warm and homely atmosphere. The upper level comprises a large living room with arched windows, a fully equipped kitchen with a central island, and three bedrooms. The lower floor offers a master bedroom with direct garden access. Outside, guests can relax by the saltwater pool or dine on the timber decking while enjoying the warm weather.

Enchanting Hillside Retreat

Located on the Costa Brava, this family-friendly abode is just 800 metres from Platja de Canyelles and 7 kilometres from Tossa de Mar, a charming town home to traditional restaurants and two Blue Flag beaches. The villa itself is equipped with everything you’ll need for a seamless stay and while the bedrooms are simple, they’re comfortable enough for extended stays. Outside, there’s a private swimming pool and a dining terrace, though, at capacity, not everyone will fit around the table, so we’d be tempted by a picnic on the lawn instead.

The Overlook

Sitting peacefully on the rugged coastline of Palafrugell, this home makes the ideal setting for a rustic Catalonian escape. You’ll be welcomed by beautiful views, a private swimming pool and plenty of outdoor space to sit back and soak it all in. The rooms and furnishings are slightly dated, but it’s a great option for families with one of the twin bedrooms featuring children’s beds, plus your host can also help organise cots and high chairs. You will need a car to get around here, but it’s just 2.2. kilometres to the amenities of Palafrugell, with Platja Fonda beach just a ten-minute drive away.
