It's homely and cosy, especially with the working fireplace, but the living space might feel a little cramped at capacity. Luckily, a peaceful walk leads right into town, where you can stretch your legs. The twin rooms are ideal for kids who can more easily manoeuvre around the sloped ceilings, and there is a ski locker available for storing your gear after a day on the snow.

For a spot of culture, the magnificent eleventh century Santa Maria Church is a six-minute walk from the house.

In the winter months, the Baqueira/Beret ski resort is seven kilometres away. It’s widely acknowledged to be Spain’s best ski resort, with 167km of pistes. After hitting the slopes, head to one of the lively apres-ski spots in the area, or come home to Arties for tapas and wine, before taking a relaxing bubble bath and curling up by the fire.
