While the interiors could do with a refresh, the place is plenty comfortable and well-appointed. We think most of your time will be spent outside in a sunny spot by the pool or in the shade of the furnished terrace. If you need to pick up bits for the barbecue, there’s a supermarket a five-minute walk away. Most importantly, you’re around a fifteen-minute walk from Petita Beach.

This contemporary villa has bagged a fantastic location, with everything you could want on your holiday within walking distance. Cala d’Or town centre, with its pedestrianised streets, supermarkets, bars and restaurants, is in one direction and the chic marina with its fashionable quayside is in the other. You’ve also got a choice of beaches, with two sandy coves just a short stroll away. The villa itself boasts a large pool with loungers, an alfresco dining area and a balcony with marina views.

Set just back from Cala Esmeralda beach (350 metres away), this home provides a practical base from which to explore the island. It’s also just a ten-minute walk to the restaurants, bars and shops of Cala D’Or, with golf courses and beautiful coves within driving distance. Your host can also arrange airport transfers – a great option for those in search of total relaxation without needing to drive. The rooms are basic and the outdoor space may not be suitable for those with reduced mobility, but the location is ideal for those looking to spend their days adventuring along the coast.

This idyllic villa is the perfect place to gather for some Balearic bliss. It's based in the easy-going resort of Cala D’Or, just a stone’s throw from golden beaches, and you can park the car at the start of the holiday and leave it there till it’s time to go home. Interiors hit that sweet spot between traditional Mallorcan and contemporary design, with terracotta floors and antique beds contrasting with a high-gloss kitchen and Hans Wegner dining chairs. Outside, there’s a unique curvy pool and a multitude of terraced spots to sit with a drink or a morning coffee. Wander down to one of the sandy calas for a swim in the azure sea, or watch the super-yachts come and go from the glamorous marina. With some homes it's hard to know where to start, but with this place in Cala d'Or there's a very obvious beginning point. The beach. Set so close to the gorgeous Cala Petita that all you have to do is stroll down the garden path and step out of the gate to feel the warm sand between toes, it overlooks this pretty little inlet – the crystal-clear water constantly tempting you from below. With one of the best beach views we've seen, this beautiful spot is one of our favourites. 

Screened from its neighbours by lush hedges and fragrant pine trees, you'll feel tucked away here, with a fabulous view from the private terrace. The home itself is as pretty as a picture, with green shutters and a traditional covered porch. Inside, high ceilings, all-white walls and plenty of curves and arches provide the backdrop, while comfy, stylish furnishings and nautical artwork make for a homey feel. The living room is dominated by a gorgeous fireplace and there's a covered dining space with huge doors opening to the sunny terrace. Cooking at home will be a pleasure in the well kitted-out kitchen, but it's just a few minutes' walk to the nearby shops and restaurants.

Perfect for a family or a great choice for a multigenerational stay, two rooms are well suited to children, with enough bathrooms to prevent any queues for the shower. And if you're the kind of person who likes to begin the day with a swim, nothing could be more invigorating than a sea dip before breakfast.

Plus, with two sandy beaches both reachable within just seven minutes on foot, you can spend your days splashing in the waves, building sandcastles, or simply relaxing as you enjoy the views and soothing soundscape. 

Start your mornings with a glass of jugo de naranja on the sun-bathed balcony as you admire the incredible views stretching out to the ocean. Then head to the beach or spend leisurely hours lounging in the sunshine before cooling off in the waters of your private swimming pool. When you need a moment of shade, why not sit back with a good book on the comfortable outdoor seating under the shaded pergola?

In the evening, sliding doors connect the kitchen to a small porch with a dining table creating the perfect area to enjoy a meal of Spanish tapas. This farmhouse has been renovated in such a way that it has retained its unique rural character while still getting to call itself a holiday home fit for the twenty-first century. This traditional villa sits on the edge of sleepy S’Horta where it provides a great location for a family getaway. From here, you can walk to the nearby supermarket and restaurants, plus it’s just a five-minute drive to the beautiful beaches of Cala D’Or. Your host can organise a range of extras for little ones and while the rooms are basic, we think you’ll be spending most of your time in the swimming pool or lounging on the terrace.

If you can peel yourself away from this paradise, the charming village of Calonge offering shops, bars and restaurants, is twenty-three minutes away on foot or six minutes by car. If you want to escape for a bit of romance, take a trip to Castillo de Santueri, a short drive away from home, or hire a boat cruise around the Med for the day. Laid-back and unfussy Mallorca allows you to explore as much or little as you wish.

A paradise on paradise, it won't be a mystery why this home caught our eye. With several fantastic places to catch the sun, including by the large pool and on one of the terrace areas, this home is the perfect escape for a group of friends or an extended family. With an ensuite for every room and all that space, you won't encroach on one another, while still enjoying ample opportunity to come together to dine and connect. We especially like the shaded al fresco area and the Mediterranean garden. You're also a short drive away from the beach – perfect for a day trip.

You can’t forget your coastal location with the nautical theme that runs through this home, a distinct nod, perhaps, to Portocolom lighthouse which forms part of your daily view. Outdoor living is easy at this family villa, set in quiet countryside on the outskirts of the popular Cala d’Or resort. With a private pool, Jacuzzi, BBQ area, dining table and plenty of seating options, most alfresco options are covered. The four ensuite bedroom all have countryside views and the master suite boasts panoramic sea views from its private terrace. The villa is set back from the road so while you’ll have easy access for exploring the island by car, you’ll still enjoy a feeling of seclusion in the lawned garden.

It’s also just a short drive to Portocolom, with the island’s beautiful beaches also within easy reach. Inside, the rooms are traditional and a little dated, but we think most of your time will be spent outdoors – savouring the magic of island living.

This traditional villa boasts a private swimming pool surrounded by a pretty garden, yet it's only a short walk from one of Mallorca's nicest cove beaches. Just ten minutes on foot from Cala Sa Nau and a five-minute drive from Cala d'Or, you couldn't ask for a better spot to explore the island – but when you're not out and about, there's plenty to enjoy back home, too. We're talking sun-kissed terraces, a built-in barbecue and plenty of spots to sprawl out in the rays. The rustic interiors won't appeal to everyone – in particular, the bathrooms are somewhat dated – but the single-level layout will suit guests who struggle with stairs.

This villa is everything we want from a place in the southeast of Mallorca. Step-free access and three downstairs bedrooms mean it’s suitable for those with limited mobility, while the upstairs bedroom has its own en-suite and balcony – perfect for those who’d like some privacy. You’ll notice holiday knick-knacks dotted about, which may not be to everyone’s taste, but we think they’re charming. It’s the outside space that really steals the show – we couldn’t get enough of the private pool and summer kitchen. Most importantly, there’s a sandy beach 700 metres away and Caló del Moro is easily reached by car.

The villa's unique round layout extends over three levels allowing for ample space to unwind, whether for some private time or as a group. The outdoor area is where you’ll want to spend the greatest part of your days, taking dips in the private pool, gathering for alfresco barbecues and admiring panoramic views of Cala Santanyí’s bay from the terrace. When it comes to uninterrupted sea views, it doesn’t get much better than those offered from this home. Occupying a privileged spot on the cliffs of Cala Murada, this is the ideal setting for a refreshing coastal escape. Take your pick from multiple terraces, enjoy lazy days by the pool and restorative sessions in the home sauna and jacuzzi. And while this all sounds like the perfect adults-only escape, it’s also a great option for families with child-friendly amenities available on request and the nearest beach just a short walk away.

You’ll find this villa situated in Portocolom, just a short walk from two sandy coves and a simple beach bar. Amenities like shops, a chemist and restaurants cluster around the main harbour, around 2 kilometres away. The home itself is simple in style but comfortable enough for a long stay. If you have the little ones in tow, there are retractable gates at both the top and bottom of the stairs and the swimming pool can be fenced. We loved the terrace for alfresco dining and the balcony was our favourite spot for a sundowner.

With a hilltop position, this home has wonderful garden, countryside or sea views from almost every room. There’s a private pool surrounded by Mediterranean plants or enjoy an alfresco meal on one of the covered terraces. The décor inside is on the traditional side, but we love that all of the bedrooms open out onto the terrace or balcony. When you are ready to explore the area, you’ll find an array of restaurants, bars and shops in Portocolom, as well as beaches such as Cala Marcal.

My Rainbow World

Set in the traditional fishing village of Porto Colom, this elegant villa combines contemporary design with authentic Mallorcan features to make for an endlessly relaxing stay in the sun. The stone exterior and terracotta tiling give off a very traditional feel, but step inside and find a modern space with minimalist furnishings, muted tones and a designer kitchen. We think it's the perfect marriage between old and new. 

As much as we adore the curated interiors, the main draw of this home is the outside space and private pool. Soak up the sun while sipping aperitifs on a lounger, before moving up to the terrace for a round of card games. Cool off with a quick dip, before firing up the barbecue and preparing some fresh local seafood (perhaps picked up from the market in Felanitx).

The villa offers easy access to the quaint boutiques and slow-going atmosphere of charming Porto Colom, less than five minutes' walk away. Plus, it's only a four-minute drive from the shallow waters and golden sands of Cala Marçal Beach for fun-filled family days out – that's if you can peel yourself away from this slice of paradise.

Sip cold refreshing drinks on one of the ten available sun loungers while taking in the romantic scenery and views of the fields and surrounding forestland. Come sundown, outdoor lights illuminate the pool area during the night so you can enjoy a midnight swim. 

In just a short five-minute drive, you can be in Felanitx with its abundance of shops, bars and restaurants. With so many sandy shores to explore, why not pick a new beach to visit each day? Restaurants, shops, and bars are a bit further – you'll need to hop in the car, but they're just a short drive away. Alongside the communal pool, the private garden and balcony are ideal for chilling out, Spanish style. It's on the first floor, so prepare to climb some stairs, and since it's part of an apartment complex, you're likely to hear and see your neighbours. For a family getaway in Mallorca, it's a good choice.

An idyllic retreat secluded away in the Mallorcan countryside – this traditional villa is perfect for those seeking a tranquil getaway, far from the madding crowd. Golf enthusiasts will appreciate its easy access to the nearby village's course, whilst sun-seekers can take their pick from the poolside loungers or head to the nearby beaches for a change of scenery – they're under a fifteen-minute drive away. 

Inside the traditional stone façade, the country-style interiors are in keeping with its authentic 1940s Mallorcan origins. Our favourite spot in the home is undoubtedly the main bedroom – you're bound to feel like royalty with its red crimson colour scheme and beautiful balcony. That's not to say guests in the other rooms will feel hard done by, far from it. Each has a spectacular view over the surrounding countryside, and the majority also have their own en-suite bathrooms.

The grounds offer a picturesque playground for children and adults alike. In addition to the pool, you'll find a ping pong table for outdoor tournaments, while a nearby orange grove scents the air. After a day under the Spanish sun, we can think of nothing better than relaxing in the outdoor dining area as dinner sizzles away on the built-in brick barbecue. 

Rogue Retreat

Situated in the pretty Spanish town of Cala Figuera, this country house is a great choice for a large group of friends or family. The home is spread over two floors and includes a spacious open-plan kitchen where you can get a real flavour of the local produce. There's a sauna and a jacuzzi to unwind in, as well as a private swimming pool in the well-tended gardens surrounding this home. We love the large terrace area complete with BBQ facilities – fire it up for some alfresco dining in the afternoon. We suggest a car for ease if you want to explore the area – the home is five miles from the gold stone architecture of Santanyí city.

Upstairs is just as dreamy as cloud-like bedrooms featuring en-suite bathrooms and private balconies that invite guests to enjoy the sun set from an elevated position in pure seclusion. 

Beyond the realms of this gorgeous space, explore the local village of Felanitx and its bars, restaurants, supermarkets and cafes. Beach bums are in luck here, too, as some of the island's most iconic beaches (Cala Llombards, Cala Monfrago and Cala D'Or are situated just fifteen to twenty--five minutes away on the eastern coastline.

If you long for a holiday close to the beach, in a quiet spot away from it all, this could be the home for you. Inside, the villa is traditional in style, but this is a home that encourages outdoor living. Surrounded by sun-kissed terraces, soak up Mediterranean Sea views that you’ll never tire of – you can even drink in those views from the private pool. An alfresco meal is a must in the dedicated barbecue area, or if you’re keen to dine out, the beach and restaurants of Cala Santanyí are just a short stroll away. 

Mystical Med

It’s rare that you can walk from a country farmhouse to the beach, but this Mallorcan villa has it all. Located in the beautiful Cala Mondragó, you’ll be surrounded by the untouched nature of Mallorca. Just a few minutes walk from some of the most prestigious beaches on the east coast, you could easily go without a car here, though we do recommend renting one if you’re keen to explore other resorts like Cala D'or. At home, you’ll have a private pool, barbecue area and plenty of outdoor seating from which to soak up the glorious sunshine.
