Dating back to 1841, this old Mallorcan farmhouse has bags of charm. Wandering the old courtyards and patios, you get the feeling that you’re staying in the renovated ruins of a historic building. Seating nooks are tucked into crumbling alcoves and alfresco dining is surrounded by old olive barrels and the farm’s stone well. A built-in stone barbecue provides the rustic farm feast and there’s a second dining area beneath a curtained gazebo. Slip into the L-shaped swimming pool and unwind with nothing but fields and hills before you. 

Heading inside, you’ve got several seating spaces for the whole group to spread out – the grand, stone-vaulted lounge and dining area,  rocking chairs in hallways packed with curious artworks (we love the vintage moped), and a tucked-away living room in white and dove-grey. The kitchen still has its 19th-century hearth as a striking feature, but you’ll find all the mod cons and appliances of the 21st-century filling the cupboards too. 

The villa sits in unspoiled countryside with beautiful views of the hills all around, but it’s just a few minutes' drive into the centre of Llucmajor for supermarkets and restaurants. If you fancy a day of culture and history, Palma is just a twenty-minute drive away.

Every corner of this 200-year-old Finca delivers pure Mallorcan charm. The interiors are stylish and spacious, with two double bedrooms and a sweet third room ideal for little ones – they’ll love the bunk bed. The master suite has its own private lounge and balcony, making it a bit of a haven for those travelling with children. After the kids have gone to bed, relax with a beer on the balcony and count the stars – it’s your holiday too, after all. 

Stone accent walls tie the interior decor to the outside space, which boasts an inviting swimming pool, lush lawn and a shaded terrace perfect for a sunset cocktail hour. 

You might take a day trip to explore Palma. A visit to the magnificent cathedral is well worth the journey alone, and it’s a gorgeous city to stroll around with an ice cream. Begin your days here with breakfast alfresco under the shade of the awning. Lounge in the sunshine before taking a dip in the cooling waters of your private pool, while your children enjoy the playhouse and swings. Then, why not head out for a day of exploring and adventures. 

Play a round of golf at the course just a twelve-minute drive away or go horse riding at the equestrian ranch – a short six-minute drive away. We think this luxury villa in a smart Llucmajor neighbourhood is a pretty magical place. Located just fifty metres away from the sea, and with a range of amenities to delight the whole family, you're guaranteed to make some lasting memories during your stay. 

The ultra-modern exterior combines geometric shapes and clean lines with glass and wood, for a striking effect. This stylish look continues inside, where you'll find a floating staircase, contemporary art and a chic, neutral colour palette. If you need to work then you can do so in the study, but if it's fun times only for you then you can play some table football or soak in the Jacuzzi tub. Outside, the sparkling pool is great for a refreshing swim and there is plenty of seating where you can soak up the sun. 

Take a wander down to the water's edge to listen to the waves and enjoy a dip in the sea. Lively S'Arenal is just three kilometres away, where you can visit a range of restaurants and bars after spending a day on the sandy beach. From the moment we pulled up outside and saw the setting, we were in love with this gorgeous stone-built home with its mesmerising views over the Mediterranean. Relax on the comfy L-shaped sofa in the stylish living room and drink them in or head to the mezzanine sitting room. Our favourite spot is the Eames-style rocking chair in the bedroom with its lovely beams. 

Outdoors is beautiful, too, and wonderfully private and secluded, thanks to its warm stone walls. Cook up a Mallorcan feast in the outdoor kitchen and enjoy it on the shaded terrace surrounded by cacti and potted palms. Then laze on the sunbeds in the Balearic sun – that's our kind of holiday. This place is absolutely perfect for families.

The location is great too – the charming town of Port de Pollença, with its restaurants and shops, as well as the fine sandy beach, is just three minutes by car, while Can Cullerassa Beach, used mainly by locals, is under 50 metres away.

Summer Crush 

There's something both at once futuristic and timeless about this villa in the Llucmajor region of Mallorca. This finca dates back to around 1890. Built from local stone and using traditional tiles, fireplaces and beamed ceilings, it's a stylish blend of rustic features and contemporary (think dark wood furniture and shuttered windows alongside modern steel and glass). A local architect has taken this old farmhouse and given it new life – without losing any of the atmosphere.

Your living space flows naturally on the ground floor, with a stunning seating area with a window wall to one side and exposed stone walls to the other. Stylish, comfy sofas provide a perfect indoor retreat to sit and chat, while the indoor dining table is just steps from the sleek, all-white kitchen. Two of the bedrooms open to the garden, while a steel staircase leads up to the others.

But this home's real star power comes in the form of an immense outdoor pool. Measuring more than 1000sq ft, it's been built using the existing base of an old farm building and uses several repurposed architectural features. It's pretty impressive if we say so ourselves.

As you'd expect, there's no shortage of secret outdoor seating spots and places to read under a tree in total seclusion. You'll also have a large covered terrace with a table and a barbecue. And here's a quirky little addition: if you thought the walk downstairs to the pool was too long from the main bedroom, the architect has installed some exterior metal steps so it only takes a moment.

Nearby, explore Sencelles and the surrounding villages, head off on hikes and bike rides, visit the local historic sites or drive to the coast for a day by the sea. Thanks to its location in the centre of the island, it's easy to get around by car.
