Amidst the dramatic backdrop of the sand-hued ancient castles and rolling hills of Plans de Sió sits this restored 16th-century farmhouse. Once a vineyard, the garden is now home to a stunning octagonal swimming pool, reminiscent of a Moorish plunge pool, a ping pong table, outdoor dining with a barbecue, and a wrap-around terrace overlooking the endless fields and forests. The view here is particularly breathtaking at sunset. Inside, the ancient stone walls are adorned with unique pieces by local artists and shelves show off trinkets from around the globe. The kitchen retains its old farmhouse charm, but shining chrome appliances give away the 21st-century make-over. A collection of outbuildings are now home to covered outdoor dining with the rustic simplicity of a monk’s refectory, and an old storeroom has been converted into a plush home cinema with velvet seats and perfect acoustics. Bedrooms feel hotel-grade luxurious, but what we really love are the retained old flourishes of the former farmhouse – stone tables for grinding corn, stone barrel rooms now holding bedrooms and a master bedroom in the old kitchen, still with its striking ancient hearth. Breakfast is also included every day.  

Ridge & Furrow

With stunning gardens and plenty of outdoor terraces, this traditional Spanish villa is quite the summer retreat. Think long, warm days taking in the coastal vistas, chatting with the friendly locals and alfresco dining to your heart’s content. Inside the home, wooden beams, spiralling staircases and stone arches all add to the rustic design. The bedrooms, cosy and flooded with sunlight, are perfect for relaxing with a book — that’s if you can tear yourself away from the alluring grounds on those cool summer evenings. With a large dining table shaded from the sun, you’ll be able to gather with family and friends to enjoy long, wine-soaked dinners — of course indulging in some delicious tapas. As you leave the address, in one direction you have a beautiful white sand beach a ten-minute walk away where you can relax and swim, and in the other, there's a selection of mountainous nature reserves that are ideal for a day of scenic hiking. Back at your temporary home, you can also access the holiday complex's shared amenities, which include everything you need for a rejuvenating afternoon — a hot tub, sauna, fitness room, spa area and hydro-massage bath. Let's just say that boredom will never fly as an excuse here.

Under An Azure Sky

Tucked away in the Catalan countryside, this rustic home feels like you're in a medieval fairytale. Traditional Spanish stone lines the walls, encompassing homespun fittings and homely furniture. The whole villa emanates a cosy feeling of warmth and comfort.

This villa in Catalonia is a comfortable retreat for a family or group of friends. Outside, the terrace features a saltwater pool and a seating area for relaxing with a sundowner – you’ll find an alfresco dining space around the other side of the home. Inside, there’s everything you need for stress-free self-catering, but if you’d prefer a more hand’s off approach, your host can arrange for a private chef to do the cooking. Exploring the region couldn’t be easier – Barcelona is around a twenty-minute drive away, and the beaches of Sitges are nearby.

Being so close to a city that's so well known for its architecture, it's only fitting that this home should be a bit of a beauty when it comes to design. Meanwhile, the town of Sant Cugat del Vallès – with its theatres, quirky museums (including one dedicated to Marilyn Monroe) and vast antique market – is just 6km away and well worth exploring. What's more, from here you can take the Ferrocariles Catalanes into downtown Barcelona, a twenty-minute train ride away.




Collserola Climber

If you’re in search of a sun-kissed stay on the Costa Daurada, this home delivers a bright solution. It’s just a short stroll to the beach, while the nearest restaurants and shops are all within easy walking distance. It’s also a great base for hiking and cycling in the surrounding countryside. And when it comes to rest and relaxation, this home offers a private pool for refreshing swims and a terrace with a barbecue for alfresco dining. Inside, the rooms are simple, minimal and well-equipped for families in search of a low-key getaway.  

Happy Bay

Spectacular sea views, a bustling nearby town, vast sandy beaches within reach, and a fantastic covered terrace – this beautifully appointed apartment has a lot going for it. Located in Cap de Salou, it's an ideal spot for a couple or a small family. Days begin outside, enjoying a fresh cup of coffee, admiring the shimmering ocean and unspoiled landscape in full view. 

Inside, it's contemporary and light. We particularly love the open-plan living space, allowing for seamless modern living. With a dining table, fully-equipped kitchen, and comfortable bedroom you'll have everything needed for a relaxing stay. 

After a quick afternoon snooze on the sofa, pack your seaside essentials and take the six-minute stroll down to Platja de la Cala Crancs. Stretch out on the sand and go swimming in the sea. Later, gather your things and end the day with a delicious seafood supper in the lively town of Tarragona, just fifteen minutes away by taxi.

We love the rustic feel of the place: the stones and wooden features have been sourced from the local area, preserving the authentic décor. There is also plenty of natural light flooding in, courtesy of the large, floor to ceiling windows. On hot afternoons, why not head down to the communal pool for a dip – the view of the surrounding hills is truly spectacular here.

Set in a privileged spot right next to Barcelona's beloved La Sagrada Familia, this apartment is a great fit for a solo traveller visiting the city. Located in the heart of Eixample, you'll have plenty of traditional restaurants and tapas bars on your doorstep, with the popular Avinguda Gaudí Street next door. Inside, the home is bright and modern with double doors opening out to a small balcony that serves as a lovely spot for enjoying the warm Catalan weather with a drink. If you're travelling for work, you won't find a desk here, but the dining table doubles up as a laptop-friendly workspace. That said, some street noise should be expected.

Situated on the outskirts of Sitges, this traditional Spanish home is exactly what holidays in Catalonia are all about. From the cool terracotta tiles to the built-in fireplace, this charming homestay is more 18th-century farmhouse than 21st-century holiday home, which makes perfect sense considering this gorgeous resort was once an industrial wine farm in the heart of the Penedes wine region. 

Honour the property’s rich history with a bottle of vino in the courtyard or settle into a sun lounger and lose yourself in a good book from the living room bookshelf. If you can bear to give up your place by the pool, there’s plenty to see and do in the local area. From medieval castles to gorgeous hiking trails, there’s no shortage of attractions here – not to mention, Barcelona’s just thirty-five minutes away by car so there’s no risk of running out of famous landmarks to discover. When you get home, treat your entourage to a delicious barbecue in the back garden then call it a night – with black-out blinds in both bedrooms, you can almost guarantee that a great night’s sleep awaits.
