When you want to explore the rest of London, Stratford International station is a five-minute walk, and the Eurostar (St Pancras International) is a quick seven-minute train journey from Stratford International. There is a cycle hire right outside the apartment block too. After all that shopping or exploring, there’s a private balcony to relax on at this modern, light-filled apartment which has a homely vibe with its plants and prints.

Back inside, the long open-concept living space benefits from the huge floor-to-ceiling window at the end, which brings in copious amounts of natural light. The blue kitchen is as sleek as they come, with stone-composite work surfaces and in-built lighting, while the underfloor heating is sure to be appreciated in the winter months, too. If to your ears the year 2012 doesn't sound right without the prefix of London, this penthouse apartment will bring back some fond memories. Step out onto the private balcony and look left to see the Olympic Stadium where Mo Farah, Usain Bolt and Jessica Ennis-Hill all memorably snatched gold. Turn your head the other way and you'll see the London Aquatics Centre, which hosted the pool events at the games. As well as being easy on the eye — the work of architect Zaha Hadid, no less — you can go for a swim in this iconic venue if you fancy. Speaking of striking design, this home's interior deserves some plaudits, too. Dazzlingly white walls accentuate the occasional bursts of orange, while the kitchen's clean lines and sleek surfaces will please any fan of minimalism. It's not just a pretty face, though — you'll appreciate the underfloor heating if you're staying during the colder months. The local area is ripe for exploring, with the nearby Westfield shopping centre providing both retail and culinary distractions. However, one thing that we highly recommend is to hire a bike and take a tour of the Olympic Park to bring that summer of sports rushing back.

Right on the edge of Epping Forest, this beautiful semi-detached Edwardian house has been renovated to an exacting standard, while still retaining many of its original features. The open kitchen living area is the heart of the house, and is bathed in plenty of natural light thanks to glass doors spanning the width of the room and a large skylight. High ceilings, mature indoor plants, and contemporary art characterise the space, alongside Scandi woods and statement pottery. The glass doors lead out onto the private garden, complete with a trampoline for the kids to bounce on, and an outdoor table for long summer lunches. 

Each of the bedrooms is full of charm, decorated with antique furniture and unique trinkets to make you feel right at home. We love the kids’ room, which is full of stuffed toys and books to keep your little one amused throughout your stay. The house is on a peaceful square, one minute walk from Epping Forest. Take a picnic to Hollow Pond in the summertime and watch the rowboats bobbing along the water. You’ll be right on the edge of Walthamstow, the trendy London neighbourhood full of independent coffee shops, vintage boutiques, and excellent restaurants. This area enjoys a village feel and is surrounded by green space – but the hustle and bustle of Central London can still be reached in thirty-five minutes via public transport.

Happily, you’ll have access to the building’s top-notch facilities, so you can spread out on the roof terrace, work up a sweat in the communal gym, and conduct business from a co-working space. You’ll have a kitchen to cook in and plenty of cafes nearby. Canary Wharf Tube station is only a nine-minute walk away, so seeing the rest of London is as easy as can be.

It’s a sweet spot that feels homely but certainly doesn’t scrimp on quality or comfort. You’ll be sharing the space with an impressive collection of houseplants, but that’s part of its charm. We love the well-equipped kitchen in miniature and the deep, dark blue of the Victorian bathroom, complete with a claw foot bath for taking a long soak. Pop on the Bluetooth Marshall amp or record player, and enjoy some time away from the busy streets of the capital. Outside, there’s a small but no-less-welcome terrace, which brings a tiny bit of nature into the breathable living space. Located in a lively and interesting part of the city, with the weekly Chatsworth Road Market on your doorstep, there’s plenty to explore, including a host of indy shops and eateries. And it’s only a ten-minute walk to Homerton overground station or twenty minutes to Hackney Central if you fancy seeing what else London has to offer.

This newly refurbished home is finished with neutral interiors and filled with natural light, creating a tranquil atmosphere. The bedroom continues this peaceful theme, with minimalist decor and a queen sized bed. Stratford might not be the most happening location, but it has good connections to central London and the trendy East London scene. The Excel Centre and Canary Wharf can also be reached easily, making this perfect for a business traveller.

This stylish apartment has a prestigious location in Shoreditch, in a landmark building designed by the renowned architects Foster + Partners. We love the ensuite bathroom, beautifully finished with marble. The open-plan living space is flooded with lots of natural light with large windows overlooking London. However, the absolute highlights here for us are the indoor lap pool and spa – perfect for relaxing after a busy day. There's also a residents' lounge, a state-of-the-art gym, and a cinema, so there's plenty to keep you occupied.

If all this wasn't enough, this home has a fabulous address. It's a twelve-minute walk to East London Tech City, otherwise known as Silicon Roundabout, while Spitalfields Market is a four-minute saunter. With its public gardens, bars, and restaurants, Hoxton Square is a seven-minute wander, or art lovers can head to the Barbican Arts Centre, seventeen minutes away on foot.

Behind a beautifully renovated townhouse facade lies an interior that is bright and beautiful in equal measures. The living room has the feel of a contemporary art gallery, with high ceilings, parquet flooring and striking pieces on the wall. Although saying that, we haven't been to a gallery with such cute pastel-pink, tufted furnishings. 

The kitchen is just as striking, thanks to the large windows, the flurry of house plants and handsome marble surfaces. So striking in fact, that we crowned it 'kitchen of the year' on Instagram. As well as letting in copious amounts of natural light, the French door also leads out to a charming garden space with some seating for warm evenings. 

Upstairs, the bedrooms are both large and equipped with regal beds, while there's even a balcony space looking out over the rooftops of East London and the distant skyscrapers in The City. However, you don't even have to go far to find things to do in the neighbourhood. Just around the corner, there's the Castle Cinema — an Art Deco building reopened after a local crowdfunding campaign — and Chatsworth Market, which runs every Sunday with a great range of independent stalls.

This attractive apartment is a great choice of base in London, whether you’re in the city for business or leisure. It’s in Shoreditch, on lively Old Street, with a wealth of restaurants, bars, and cafes nearby. It’s also a hotspot for shopping, theatre, and galleries. With its modern amenities, this loft-style apartment is a comfortable home-from-home, though at full occupancy, four guests will sleep in the living and dining space – two on the sofa bed, and two in a king-size bed. We’d stick to a guest count of four if you're seeking more privacy.

East London’s vibrant areas span way further than well-known haunts like Shoreditch. Eleven minutes from Upton Park underground, this incredible designer loft is ideal for a creative space to relax in. This red-brick building was formerly the cafeteria of a Boy’s Club in the 1930s. 

The architect of the Queen Elizabeth Ocean Liner designed this home – so you know you can expect something special. Boho meets Art Deco and Bauhaus inside this loft, with dark wood flooring and unique wood panelling featured throughout the space. 

Leaving the building, you’ll descend a truly historic staircase. You might even feel as if it's channeling the vibes of the grand staircase on a royal ocean liner. Hop on public transport to reach East London in less than twenty minutes. This area is awash with high street shops, international restaurants, beer gardens, and rooftop bars.

To really immerse yourself into London culture, stay on the tube a bit longer to reach Central London. Here, you'll find fascinating museums, chic art galleries and the beautiful parks that define the landscape.

We particularly love the view from the private balcony of the London Cable Car flying through the clouds – it's the perfect spot for a glass of Champagne. Inside, you'll find a stylish space with dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows – relax on the comfy sofa with its throws and take in the sunset or tinkle the ivories on the piano. Plenty of verdant plants dotted around give this place a homely vibe. This apartment is perfect for a couple, solo traveller or business professional.

Situated in the Greenwich Peninsula, there's plenty to see and do. Watch a gig at The O2 Arena or head to London's Design District, a two-minute stroll away – the development has workspaces and plenty of industry talks and events. Or if you crave some green space, there's plenty here, including a four-acre ecology park made up of freshwater habitat and 1.6 miles of riverside. You also have easy access to the City and central London via the North Greenwich Underground station, which is just over a five-minute walk away.

We suggest the pretty pubs and bars around St Katharine's Docks for good food with a picturesque view.

It’s worth noting there is no private parking available here, but it’s just a short walk to Walthamstow train station – making it easy to explore further afield. It's also possible to walk to coffee shops, restaurants, bakeries and the William Morris Gallery.
