The property is a stunning holiday home located in a secluded loch-side setting with breathtaking views of Loch Etive and Glencoe. This spacious six-bedroom home can accommodate up to twelve guests and boasts six bathrooms, making it perfect for holidays with family and friends. The house features a fully enclosed garden, Wi-Fi, an Aga, and ample parking. Guests can access the Loch directly from the garden via a track and boat owners can use the owner's slipway and buoy for an additional charge. Fishing rods and mackerel lines are also available on request. The surrounding area offers many popular destinations such as Inverawe Smokehouse and Shop, Taynuilt village, and Oban, which is about 30 minutes' drive away. Children and dogs are welcome, but guests must be aware that there is a small garden pond at the back of the house and that the property is accessed via a rough forestry track.

This majestic mansion, with its ten glamorous bedrooms, offers a completely private retreat just outside of Edinburgh. The home has been in the hands of the Kinloch family for thirteen generations, and the bedrooms' unique names reflect the house's long, aristocratic history. The facade was designed in the classical style by the architect Robert Adam in 1750, and modernised to its current form in the 1820s. Make like Lucy from the Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and explore every corner, while the rest of the family snuggles up in the drawing-room with the log fire burning. The hardest decision you’ll have to make is whether to serve your evening feasts in the oak-lined music room, or the formal dining room. On top of that, there are one hundred acres of garden and woodland to romp around and explore. The house is located in the heart of East Lothian, just outside Athelstaneford and, as the birthplace of the Saltire, Scotland's national flag, the village is entrenched in Scottish history. It's also situated on the famous Golf Coast, close to some of the country's best courses, and you can drive to the city of Edinburgh in just over half an hour.

This splendidly restored Victorian house will whisk you away to another era. Designed by a prominent 19th-century Scottish architect, this place retains its original charm. We were stunned by the ornate plasterwork, massive fireplaces and antique furnishings. Wake up to a view of the shimmering waters of Loch Long and The River Clyde. Peek through the telescope in the lounge and see if you can spot the isle of Arran in the distance. Every care has been taken to make the place as kid-friendly as possible – from ensuring the sockets and fireplaces are covered to providing high-chairs and cribs. This is one of those homes for which first impressions can be deceiving. From the outside, the nineteenth-century stone exterior looks rather traditional, but the interior is a completely different story. Walls painted in a muted grey, wooden floors and striking monochrome portraits are as modern as they come, and the design works particularly well with the bountiful amounts of natural light from the bay windows. Pristinely designed it might be, but there's also a whole lot of fun to be had here, too. Out in the garden, there's a hot tub in which you can sit and take in the view of the Sound of Karrera. There's also a separate shed which doubles up as a games room, complete with tables for ping-pong, poker and pool. In the town of Oban, there are distilleries and seafood restaurants to visit, but as you can probably guess from the scenery, there are lots of coastal walks to embark upon too, including forty-five minutes to Ganavan Sands.

On the banks of a secluded loch near Aboyne, this beautiful cabin comes with a beautiful story. It was originally built in the 1920s by Viscountess Cowdray, a close friend of Queen Mary. Choosing it as the perfect spot between her home and the royal estate at Balmoral, it was built so the two women could regularly meet and take tea by the water together. Sitting here, in the peaceful Aberdeenshire countryside, it's not hard to see what attracted them. The setting, overlooking the loch, and surrounded by tall pines is a truly inspirational one, and whether you're here in the middle of summer or the winter, the views from the home are second to none. Despite its rustic charm and rough Scots pine exterior, the cabin has been renovated to create a luxurious home, with antique furnishings, a log fire and vintage art. A Grade-II listed former stable in the middle of Dunskey Estate, this home is a truly glorious spot. The interior has been restored, but there are lots of features that date back to a century ago, including the wood panelling and fireplace. Outside, we are smitten with the charming cobbled courtyard with seating, potted plants and access to a private walled garden. Be sure to ask your hosts about the fascinating past of the estate – once a no man’s land and a haven to criminals. The host’s family owns the estate these days, so you’re in safe hands here. Follow the woodland path from the cottage and discover a wood-burning hot tub beneath a canopy of leaves. We hear watching the sunset peek through the trees as the woodland bats begin to fly is magical. Then fire up the barbecue for an evening dining under the stars. During the day, head down to the crystal-clear waters of the River Esk and over the suspension bridge for brisk walks in the estate's grounds. Then head home to get toasty beside the log burner before a long soak in the rolltop bath found in the elegant bedroom upstairs.

Woodland Cottage

If you want to try and spot the ever-elusive Loch Ness Monster, this old stone clergy house that has sat on the banks of the famed body of water for over a century-and-a-half lets you do so in the utmost comfort. Inside, the rooms are filled with varnished wood furnishings, boldly printed rugs and roaring fireplaces — so you can look out the windows at the loch without feeling cold in the slightest. Other noble flourishes come in the shape of the four-poster beds and the two deep claw-footed bathtubs. There's even a small garden out the back, but you're hardly short of beautiful outdoor attractions around these parts. Urquhart Castle is a fifteen-minute drive away, while Dores Beach can be reached in twenty minutes in case you're in the mood for a bracing wild swim. Although the address feels both rural and secluded, the town centre of Inverness only takes seventeen minutes to reach in the car, too.

Member of the Clergy

Just a hop, skip and a jump away from the banks of Loch Ness, this delightful homestead is just the ticket for a rural getaway in the Highlands. Days here are best spent outdoors, whether you're trekking through the dense Urquhart Bay Woods, exploring the ruins of Urquhart Castle or hiking to the top of Meall Fuar-mhonaidh for gorgeous views of the water. 

Treat yourself after a long walk at the pubs and cafes in Drumnadrochit, or if you prefer a homecooked meal, head home and rustle up something tasty in the roomy kitchen. With plenty of crockery, cookware and counter space, you'll have everything you need to show off your culinary skills. Take a load off in the cosy lounge, where squishy leather sofas beckon after a ramble through the countryside. Apart from the odd bleat of a sheep or moo of a coo, there’s not much else to disturb the peace at this spot in the Perthshire countryside.
