Through walls of glass, this Criccieth home welcomes the outdoors in. And when you catch a glimpse of the sea views from almost every corner of this home, you’ll know why it caught our eye. Having appeared on a couple of popular TV shows, it’s no surprise that this modern marvel is a perfect place to stay for friends and families alike. Cool and contemporary inside, it’s quite the contrast to the rugged landscape surrounding it. Just take care with the cliff edge – little ones and four-legged friends will need to be supervised. 

Clifftop Dream

Set on the banks of the Nevern estuary, this spacious family home – with large private gardens and a seating terrace – offers the perfect Welsh break. Wake up to amazing views across the estuary. Let your four-legged friends roam free in the spacious garden and the children let off steam on sunny days, while you enjoy reading a good book on the comfy outdoor seating under the shade of the home’s awning. 

Just outside the home’s gate, you will find access straight to the estuary which leads to Newport Bay and Parrog – reachable in just twenty-three minutes on foot, which makes it ideal for a leisurely walk together. Then return home in the late afternoon for Welsh cake warmed in the Aga. 

In the evenings, cosy up on the big squashy sofa in front of the wood burner with your dog curled up at your feet as you watch your family's favourite film. Or, on warmer days head out to the patio with a gin and tonic and let the children tire themselves out for bedtime as they run around the lawns. 

Cartref Glan y Môr

Only a two-minute walk from the award-winning South Beach, this home is primely located for a visit to Tenby. Offering spectacular views of South Beach all the way towards Caldey Island, this luxury apartment has an open-plan living area at its heart. Unwind in the large sitting area while the chef of the group enjoys plenty of counter space in the kitchen. Large French doors open up to the terrace where you can capture stunning panoramic coastal views while soaking in the luxurious hot tub. Each of the bedrooms also have doors that open onto the terrace overlooking the ocean and nearby golf course, where you can get a few swings in when you've clocked in more than enough beach time.

Down by the Seaside

One of the funkiest former grain stores we ever did see, this little home is part of a farm in the countryside just outside Pwllheli. Lovingly converted with a great deal of flair and imagination, it's far from your usual holiday home. Upcycled furniture, industrial pieces and pops of colour mix with natural wood, leather and slate. The ground floor living space is cosy and quirky, with a log burner, beamed ceilings and an open staircase. Cook up family meals in the fully kitted-out kitchen and choose to eat indoors or out in the private garden. There's so much to love about this place, but we particularly like the wet room, with its rain shower, light tunnel and penguins hiding in the built-in shelves, and the pretty garden with its fun seating areas. With the owners just next door, make use of the gym, make friends with the farm animals and cook on the fire pit in the evenings. It's just a ten-minute drive into the town, with loads more to see and do nearby, from walking and horse riding to playing on the sandy beaches.

This beautiful cottage near Barmouth ticks every box if you’re looking for a countryside and coastal retreat. Mountain views wrap themselves around you, so wherever you are in this charming home, you can’t help but appreciate the beauty of nature as it pops up constantly to remind you how serene this setting is. 
 
With a generous, enclosed garden and access to the coastal path from your doorstep, it’s just a leisurely stroll to Tal-y-bont beach and its beautiful, long stretch of sand. Head out for the day and you can enjoy Barmouth and, further up the coast, Harlech, with a vast array of eateries, quirky shops and outdoor activities.
 
When weariness sets in from exploring the Snowdonia coast and countryside, head back home and sink into your hot tub. Here, you can enjoy a glass of wine as the bubbles warm you and the quiet of nature fills the air. As the sun drops below the mountains to make way for the night, look up – without light pollution, the stars will be sparkling in the sky above. Pop some logs onto your outdoor wood burner, wrap yourself in a cosy blanket and enjoy some quality time with your loved ones. The only downside to this Welsh wonder is that you may find you never want to go home.

Mountain Soul

There were plenty of reasons why this penthouse apartment made it into our collection, but let's start with the most obvious. When guests step out onto the ornate white balcony, they're greeted with stunning views over the Dyfi Estuary and Cardigan Bay, stretching all the way down the Ceredigion Coastline. As is often the case with coastal locations, there's just so much sky and this uninterrupted panorama brings the added benefit of meaning the interior is flooded with natural light through the windows and skylights. This is emphasised pleasingly by the stark white walls and it makes for a wonderfully bright space to sprawl out on the tan leather sofa. As you can probably tell from looking out the window, Aberdyfi Beach sits just across the street and there are cafes and pubs along the seafront for when you fancy a refreshment. Slightly further afield, there are opportunities for birdwatching in RSPB Ynys-hir and Dyfi Osprey Project, both taking around half an hour to reach in the car.

Perched on the banks of the Teifi estuary, this renovated former sea captain's villa in southwest Wales treats guests to some spectacular waterside views. On sunny days, these can be enjoyed on the large terrace, whether that's reclining in one of the loungers, lying in the hammock or sitting around the alfresco dining area, waiting for dinner to be served off the barbecue or out of the pizza oven. However, the sparkly panorama can just as easily be appreciated from the huge windows in the open-concept kitchen-dining area or from the bedrooms. When you can prise your eyes away from the beautiful scene outside, you'll find a modern interior that integrates rustic aspects, such as exposed brickwork and a wood-burning fireplace, seamlessly. It's the sort of place you'll look forward to returning on the return leg of a long walk. If you're in need of inspiration, all you have to do is follow the Teifi — half an hour's walk west will get you to Poppit Sands Beach, while the same amount of time in the opposite direction will take you to the town of Cardigan.

You'll find everything you need for a relaxing coastal retreat in this charming house, be it board games and books or ping-pong and Prime. Every inch is warm and welcoming, with cushy sofas, a crackling wood stove and a contemporary kitchen/diner ideal for rustling up homecooked meals. Upstairs, two sumptuous bedrooms promise a restful night's sleep, but what we love most is the sunlit courtyard. We think it's the perfect spot to lounge with a cup of tea or a refreshing G&T as the day draws to a close. 

Newport is a pretty market town on the north coast of Pembrokeshire, situated at the foot of Carnigli Mountain and the Preseli Hills. There's an array of eateries, including small cafes and old-fashioned pubs, within walking distance, as well as independent shops and galleries. Newport Beach isn't far – about a half-hour stroll along the coastal path – while historic sites like Pentre Ifan, Castell Henllys Iron Age Village and Nevern Castle are less than ten minutes by car.
