The coast of Kefalonia is a rather special spot in the Ionian Sea. From the quaint and colourful villas on the waterside of Sami, to rugged clifftop landscapes with sheer drops to the water, spectacular contrasts make this island stand out from the rest. And just a four-minute drive from ancient Sami, this modern home adds yet another delightful contrast. 

This apartment is set just ten metres away from the sea, but has a truly earthy palette. As you step inside, there's an immediate sense of zen and a grounding feeling from sandy hues, wooden furniture, and wicker decorations. But something else stands out in this organic colour scheme – lime green. A fabulous feature wall and dining chairs create a pop of colour which brightens the space and makes your mouth water for a cold margarita. 

Mix up the cocktails and take them down to the lawn of your garden or the private balcony, where azure waters and leafy trees make up a gorgeous vista. Outside is also where you’ll find the residents’ swimming pool – not a bad place to cool off after a day in the Mediterranean sun.

Just ten metres from the seashore, and a two-minute stroll from the beach, this bright and pretty apartment is ideal for romantic Grecian getaways. You’ll find it in Karavomylos, a quiet village away from the crowds and nightlife – this is a place for relaxing and romancing. 

The apartment is charm personified. The pretty pink colour scheme gives it a welcoming vibe that makes the apartment feel like a home away from home – but a home with stunning sea views. The balcony looks right onto the inviting blue sea, with a dramatic mountain backdrop that really makes the sunsets special. 

If you’re keen to explore the island by car, there’s plenty within easy reach from the village. Well-known Myrtos Beach is a twenty-five-minute drive, while the colourful houses and Venetian ruins of Assos are thirty-two minutes away. On your way back from a day out exploring, stop for dinner in the neighbouring village, Sami – it’s only a five-minute drive so you can make it back in time for a late-night dip in the pool.

This lovely apartment has home-away-from-home charm in spades. If you’re planning a romantic visit to Kefalonia and want somewhere cosy and attractive to return to each day, you can’t do better than this apartment. 

The apartment is mere metres from the sea, so the balcony offers lovely views. Watch boats bobbing in the water while you eat your breakfast al fresco – the distant mountains make a beautiful backdrop. This is such a pretty part of Greece – we’d definitely be heading out on day trips to make the most of the location. 

Myrtos Beach, which featured in the film version of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, is twenty-five minutes away by car, with its dramatic stretch of white pebbles and beautifully blue water. Of course, there’s a beach just two minutes away from the apartment so you can paddle any time. 

The magical Melissani Cave is just five minutes away on foot, in Karavomylos. After taking a boat trip through the cave to discover the lake and forest within, meander through the village. Pop into a taverna for some meze and a cocktail or two – sit outside so you can watch the sunset over the sea. This place is perfect for romance.

Just a four-minute drive from the town of Sami, and an eight-minute walk from the sapphire waters of Melissani Cave, this luxe apartment offers a base where you can brush the sand off your feet and let your swimwear dry for the day ahead.

Merging into the organic scenery of this island, the home offers a calming decor of sandy tones, reminiscent of nearby beaches. Wicker and wood furniture add to this natural vibe, which continues from the dining space into the bedrooms. Rope-framed mirrors and solid log stools put even more emphasis on this rustic, beachside theme – as does the fabulous view from the terrace.

Pour yourself a glass of local wine and step outside to admire the vista. From your sandy-hued home, it would only make sense to have the sea alongside. While the residents’ swimming pool below is the first port of call, the Ionian Sea itself is just a little further in the distance. After waking up with the sun on your pillow, take your coffee to the balcony to start your day slowly – you’re on island time now, after all. The sea views are the crowning glory of this pretty apartment, which is calm and quiet, ideal for a beach holiday for two. You might decide to stroll to a nearby taverna for breakfast before spending your morning by the communal pool. The beach is two minutes away on foot, so you can switch up your sunbathing locations in a flash. 

A five-minute stroll through town is all it takes to reach Melissani Cave, one of the most beautiful sights on the island. This enchanting cave hides a turquoise lake within, with forests surrounding it. Plan your visit for midday when the sun streams through from above, giving a magical glow and adding to the romance. 

Beautiful Assos is thirty-two minutes away by car, and well worth the trip. The town is known for its colourful houses, traditional architecture, and the ruins of a Venetian castle. It’s one of the most picturesque spots on Kefalonia, so make a day of it – there are countless attractive spots for a sunset meal and cocktail.

With everything you need for a break by the beach, this apartment can be found in the peaceful village of Karavomylos, far away from the touristy crowds in the south of the island. 

The apartment is perfect for a family, or perhaps two couples looking to enjoy a relaxing stay at the beach. It’s light, bright, and comfortable, with a view of the garden. The balcony is the perfect place for pre-dinner cocktails, especially when the sun starts to set. 

A two-minute stroll will take you to a lovely pebble beach, where the water is calm. You might like to give snorkelling a go, or perhaps you’d prefer to lie back and soak up every second of sunshine? Along from the beach, there are a few tavernas and restaurants to choose from, so you’re sure to find somewhere to sample moussaka. There are plenty of beaches in the area to explore, so we recommend heading out in the car to see which secluded coves you can find.

Inside the apartment, you’ve got a soothing medley of raw wood and boho flare. Golden urns sit against a natural palette of fawn, coffee and stone and the plush sofa is a calming spot to relax. There’s something Balinese about the dining area, illuminated by a pendant lamp, and there’s a little private balcony perfect for sundowners. The view from your balcony takes in the sparkling sea, showing you how close the beach is to your doorstep.

Wicker chairs at the dining table, straw mirrors and a palette of wood and stone combine to create a relaxing spot to unwind. If you want to soak up the sun, there’s a private balcony with room for four to dine as well.

You’ll likely spend your days at the beach, swimming in the clear water and soaking up the sunshine. It’s a two-minute walk from the apartment so you can sleep in and still nab a sun lounger at the shore. Stroll along the seafront and choose a taverna to pop into for lunch – as you’re on an island you really ought to sample some of the fresh seafood. 

The crown jewel of this village is Melissani Cave, a natural wonder just five minutes from the apartment. Boats take you into the cave, which has a hidden lake and forest inside – it makes for a romantic outing. 

The town of Assos is thirty-two minutes away, and it’s well worth the car journey. Wandering around the cobbled streets and admiring the colourful houses is a delightful way to spend a day, especially with an ice cream in hand. 

Returning to the apartment after busy days in the sun feels like returning home. Open a bottle of wine to sip together in the garden as the sun sinks in the sky.

Kefalonia is home to some truly striking natural landscapes. While rugged cliffs and dramatic mountains create magnificent scenes, it also has a softer side with sandy beaches and pine forests. And somewhere in between the two, Melissani Cave offers a tranquil lake inside a rocky cavern which you simply cannot miss – which shouldn’t be too difficult, at just an eight-minute stroll from this apartment.

In the village of Karavomylos, this charming home also offers views of the Ionian Sea, ten metres from the water’s edge. If you can drag yourself away from these vistas by the glass sliding doors in the lounge, it’s worth taking a look at the elegant decor. Blushing tones of orange and muted reds create a welcoming and warm vibe, inviting you to sink into the plump sofa with a glass of fresh fruit juice in the morning. With wooden and woven elements peppered throughout, the home stays true to the natural splendour of the island.

As you step out to your leafy, private terrace for a bowl of olives before dinner, you can also look out to the residents’ pool below. Or an alternative would be to head to our favourite spot – the secluded, peach-coloured courtyard. Sip cocktails on the armchairs beneath the lush, green foliage surrounding this cute terrace.

The water of the cavernous lake is so clear that this illusion comes to life – and living just eight minutes away is ideal for experiencing this incredible day out.

This apartment is also just ten metres from the waters of the Ionian Sea, meaning its aqua offerings are second to none. And to add to this range, you’ve also got a courtyard with a residents’ pool. We love the idea of an early morning swim followed by brunch up at your apartment – perhaps up on the private balcony?
