Or you can drive across the whole island in just one hour to visit the town of Asos. Although before you get to know this charming island, you need to get settled in this equally charming villa.

The villa has a traditional stone exterior, with stylish touches like floor-to-ceiling windows. Light streams into the home, adding to the subtly tranquil style of the home. Each bedroom has its own special features, be it a private balcony for you to take your morning coffee on, or a rainfall shower that washes away any lingering stresses. 

Outside, the villa’s magic really starts to show. A spacious terrace leads to the inviting infinity pool, which looks out over the lush land below and beyond to the sea. When you get hungry, fire up the barbeque for a freshly-grilled feast, and serve up your culinary creations at the alfresco dining table – delicious. 

Rocky Amandakis Beach is just a twelve-minute walk away, where you can soak up the sun and swim in the crystal clear water. If you'd prefer to stretch out on the sand, then jump in the car and drive over to Pessada Beach, fifteen minutes away. And, if you head inland, you can visit the ruined Castle of Agios Georgios for some spectacular views across the whole island. 

Cover Me In Sunshine

This is the Greece from the movies. The ones where heroes swim in azure seas, eat fresh seafood in local tavernas, and fall in love underneath star-strewn skies. While we can't promise the latter, this home's incredible location is sure to blow you away. Blending into cerulean skies and aquamarine waters, the infinity pool is where most of your days will be spent. For a change of scenery, follow the stone path down to the rocky outcrop to dive into the ocean. Your most stressful decision will inevitably be relaxing under the pergola, soaking in the views of Zante, or on the plot's patio, curled up with a good book in the swinging egg chair. Interiors are homely and simple, with muted pastel colours and floral prints. Several of the bedrooms have their own balconies, meaning that you can start each morning admiring mother nature's work. Come dinnertime, the modern kitchen has everything needed for family meals, but we have a sneaking suspicion that most things will be done outside, on the large built-in barbecue.

Surrounded by pine-covered hills, olive groves and citrus trees, this villa puts you in a scenic spot from which to enjoy the Kefalonian countryside. A patio area accessed from the living area and bedrooms offers sweeping views of the Ionian Sea – best enjoyed from the infinity pool, we think. And with an outdoor dining area complete with a barbecue, there’s no end to the alfresco socialising in store. While the insides aren’t as picturesque as its outdoors, sea views from the open-plan living area are a nice touch, and a pair of bathrooms – one of which is en-suite – means speedy morning routines ahead of days by the pool or trips to the nearby white sand beaches, a five-minute drive away.

It's this villa's natural surroundings that really caught our eye – you've got a striking mountainous backdrop with stunning sea views in front. There’s a private pool deck, complete with sun loungers, an alfresco dining area and a barbecue, perfect for spending the entire day relaxing at home or returning from a busy day along the coast. Location-wise, you're a short drive from Trapezaki's quiet sandy beach, with the long stretch of Lourdas beach only ten minutes away by car. While you will have to hire a car to make the most of your stay, the views are certainly worth it.
