You’ll find this studio apartment in the heart of Gaios and within walking distance of Plakes Beach. It’s worth noting the central location may be too lively for those seeking peace and quiet, especially during the high season. Outside, there’s a small courtyard garden for enjoying a morning coffee and a roof terrace for watching the fishermen land their catch. Head inside, and you’ll find everything you need to feel right at home, including a well-appointed kitchen – not that we think you’ll use it much when there are tavernas right on your doorstep.

This villa grabbed our attention for its spectacular views of the Ionian Sea. Best appreciated from the poolside – where you can watch the sunset over the water – each room inside also has sea views. Add to this an infinity lap pool, a shaded alfresco dining area, and direct access to a rocky beach, and you have all the ingredients for a memorable holiday. Located on the island of Paxos, which is only 10 kilometres by three kilometres, nothing is far away here. We recommend hiring a car to visit the island’s three villages, Gaios, Loggos, and Lakka, and discover some of the many swimming coves along the coast.

This charming Paxos villa is styled like an old mill, with a stone facade and round turret housing the bedrooms. The highlight has to be the Roman-style infinity pool which looks out over the hillside to the sparkling sea beyond. The stone patio feels typically Greek with urns sprouting pot plants and crickets clicking away in the olive grove that surrounds it. Two double doors lead to the living room, which is a big, open space alongside the kitchen and dining area. Pristine white sofas match the walls, and a brick fireplace can offer the tonic to chilly evenings. The distressed green cabinets in the kitchen feel suitably rustic and beachy, given the location. It’s just a five-minute drive to the nearest sandy beach and there’s a traditional taverna an eight-minute walk away.

It's no surprise then it attracts those hoping to get off the beaten track and spend some quality time together – and this home near the main town of Gaios is the perfect spot to do just that. One of a pair of villas on this elevated plot, it looks out across the lush green island to the blue Ionian Sea. Surrounded by ancient olive trees, scented lemon trees and bougainvillaeas, it's Greece at its wild, natural best. 

The home is built for comfort and ease, with more than a hint of romance about the place. There's a cool, comfortable open layout to the living space, with modern sofas to lounge on, a central fireplace for winter stays and a place to sit and eat indoors. But we think you'll be rustling up meals, either in the kitchen or on the barbecue, to be eaten alfresco on the wonderful dining terrace to the side. From this shady spot, you can take in views of the pool and the sea while you feast on fresh local bread and fruit.

A quick stroll from Balos Beach, this pair of villas offers double the fun. Each home consists of two en-suite bedrooms, a light-filled living area, and a homey kitchen. They work well for two families travelling together who want their own space, though there's plenty of room on the sunny terraces to hang out in a group. You'll also be treated to Ionian Sea views from the two swimming pools, so you can get a taste of Paxi's postcard-worthy scenery without having to venture far.

We were charmed from the minute we clapped eyes on the dazzling sea vistas and countless sun-kissed terraces of this newly renovated villa. Perched high in the hillsides of Paxos and just a five-minute drive from the laid-back shores and authentic tavernas of Gaios, it's a postcard-perfect setting.

Sunny mornings call for bobbing about that glorious infinity pool surrounded by fragrant mature gardens. Then get together beneath the shade of the pergola for a lazy tapas lunch and drink up the shimmering sea views (and perhaps a glass of crisp retsina). If you fancy a post-lunch slumber with a good book (who wouldn't?), there are so many quiet seating nooks we've frankly lost count. Or take things inside to the light-filled living room united by breeze-fresh interiors and crash out on the modular sofa – those sea views will still be right there with you. While over in the three restful bedrooms bringing all the chic beach-house style, each room is as serene and immaculate as the next and all offer en-suite bathrooms for an added sense of privacy.

Or set sail on an adventure with a charter speedboat (no license required) to search out the island's startlingly turquoise bays – just like you've been dreaming of.

Postcard from Paxos

This home built on Paxos – the smallest of the seven principal Ionian islands of Greece – is made up of two separate villas allowing for privacy if needed. Each villa has its own private infinity pool that overlooks the stunning Ionian ocean. Spend quiet days lounging in the Greek sun before cooling off in the pool’s waters and swimming to the edge where it meets the ocean to enjoy the painting-like vistas.

Olive trees, lemon trees, jasmine plants, and blossoming fuchsia bougainvilleas surround the home proving a serene garden to relax in. Plus, from the bedroom balcony on the upper floor, you can start each morning right, gazing out past the greenery to the turquoise seas.

This delightful flora and the soothing ocean water also provide a unique backdrop for dinner time as you fire up the barbecue and cook some delicious souvlaki. Why not dine alfresco too, under the shade of the white bamboo pergola so you can enjoy the views as the sun sets and night-time descends?

Beach days are close by to this villa with the beautiful sandy Plake’s beach a short eight-minute walk away. While Gaios Town, the island’s main port, is only a four-minute drive away. Here, you can visit the statue of Georgios Anemogiannis or see the Tripitos Arch – a naturally formed rock structure that is part of a collapsed sea cave. We suggest seeing Tripitos Arch at sunrise or sunset for the very best views. 

Plus, if adventures are what you’re looking for, Gaios is also home to the Water Planet Dive Centre for scuba diving excursions to explore what lies beneath the surface of the ocean.

Bougainvilleas Villa

Wake up to the soothing sound of songbirds at this secluded hillside villa, with jaw-dropping vistas over ancient olive groves and across the Ionian Sea towards the mainland.

Inside, the villa is uncluttered and fuss-free, guaranteeing a relaxing stay. An open kitchen and living area ensures plenty of space for your group to gather together, with plenty of seating so everyone can claim a corner for themselves. 

Of course, the highlight of any Greek island visit is the opportunity to spend time soaking up the sun beneath cloudless skies, and that's where this villa excels. Not only will you find loungers to lay out on between refreshing dips in the pool, but there are two shaded dining areas, a brick barbecue/oven and outdoor sofas for a comfortable spot to sip your morning coffee.

If you can tear your gaze away from the panorama, you'll find a restaurant within walking distance (high season only), while the towns of Longos, Lakka and Gaios can all be accessed within a ten-minute drive.

Surrounded by mellow stone walls, this garden is a Greek paradise with its Ionian Sea views and sparkling azure pool. Relax on the comfy rattan furniture with a cold drink, or go for a refreshing dip to cool off from the Paxos sun. We love it here when the sun sets, and the twinkly lights come on, giving this outdoor space a magical feel. For an alfresco dinner, whizz up some skordalia (garlic dip) in the kitchen’s blender and serve with some souvlaki grilled to perfection on the barbecue. Then later, head inside to the large open plan living space with its soothing grey hues and exposed stone walls.

If you don’t fancy cooking, there are restaurants a fifteen-minute walk or two-minute drive away. There are plenty of beaches to visit in the area too if you want a day out. Beautiful Lakkos Beach is ten minutes on foot or just under two minutes in the car, while Orkos Beach, backed by olive and cypress trees, is a few minutes more.

This villa caught our eye for its stunning sea views over Avlaki Bay. Surrounded on three sides by a small forest of pine and cypress trees, it’s in a peaceful spot, yet only a five-minute drive to the beaches, tavernas, and shops in Gaios. There are outdoor spaces aplenty here, with an infinity pool, a comfy seating area, terraces, and balconies to enjoy. And with Paxi being a small island – only 3 miles by 7 – everything it has to offer is within easy reach.

After a spot of sightseeing, scroll through your camera roll under the umbrella before dipping your toes in the pool. The home features an outdoor pool, a terrace for lounging, and two alfresco dining areas – enjoy breakfasts with the early morning sun and dinners with the sunset. Bear in mind that although this home benefits from a coastal location, a car is necessary here to get the most out of your stay. 


Ionian Sunsets

Overlooking the pine-covered hills of western Paxos, this rustic home offers a peaceful island escape. Outside, leisurely days can be spent by the pool or admiring the views from the terrace. There are lots of steps here and some steep drops in the garden, so it won’t be suitable for children under 12 or those with reduced mobility. But inside, you’ll find the rooms hit all the right notes when it comfort, plus each of the bedrooms open up directly onto the terrace. From here, it’s just a fifteen-minute walk to the nearby village of Magazzia, while the nearest beaches and the main port of Gaios are just a ten-minute drive away. 

Waves of Beauty

Old meets new in the most glorious fashion at this lovingly-restored Paxiot stone cottage perched high in the hillsides yet just a five-minute drive from the postcard-pretty shores and harbour of Lakka.

Nestled within olive groves as ancient as the hills surrounding them, the setting of this villa couldn’t feel more secluded. But when you’re ready to dip your toes into island life, the bustling authentic tavernas of Lakka are an easy twenty-minute downhill stroll – though perhaps a little longer uphill when tummies are full. And just a smidge further, you'll find the pretty harbours and beaches of Loggos and Gaios should you fancy a change of scene.

Back home, this cottage has charm and character in spades, with lofty, vaulted ceilings, exposed stone walls and fresh, crisp white interiors uniting the space. But it’s outside beside the stunning pool fringed with fragrant, mature gardens where we think you’ll be spending most of your time. Sunny mornings (of which there will be many) begin beneath that shady terrace for lazy breakfasts (mimosa, anyone?) before hopping between the sun-kissed terraces and that cool blue pool. And don’t even get us started on the fiery Paxos sunsets from here – alfresco dining never looked so good.

Beneath the Olive Tree

Cloaked in stone walls and wooden shutters, this secluded Paxos pad offers sweeping coastal views in an idyllic location. The villa is spread across three levels and boasts a triad of spacious bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen - coffee machine included - and a cosy lounge. 

Inside, neutral tones and natural materials complement the modern decor, while shaded balconies perched on every level invite you to marvel at the beautiful surroundings. We have a particular soft spot for the first-level veranda, home to an outdoor dining terrace and dressed to the nines with vibrant bougainvillaea and a jasmine tree. Here, you can gaze out to the nearby island of Panayia whilst sipping on your morning espresso, shaded from the Paxos sun by the wood and canvas pergola. 

For us, the real highlight is the villa's mosaic-tiled infinity pool overlooking the sea, nestled in a fortress of stone walls and olive trees. Also at ground level is a portable barbecue, minibar and covered drinks patio - perfect for sipping on champagne at sunset.

Just a fifteen-minute walk away is the charming fishing port of Gaios, the largest town in Paxos, home to waterfront tavernas and a bustling square of restaurants and shops. There are also two pebble beaches, reachable within five minutes on foot.

Poseidon's Lookout

Nestled on the hillside and only a short drive away from the beach, Gaios village and Loggos, this beautifully restored home isn’t just well connected, it’s completely charming too. Inside, under exposed beams, you’ll find a neutral colour palette and furnishings that work to create a homely atmosphere. We bet you can already see yourself in this living space, curled up with a good cup of coffee as you watch the flames dance in the statement fireplace. 

Outside, under the cover, is where you can sit down for an alfresco breakfast. Afterwards, hang out at the table, making plans with little intention of following through – and when you’ve finally admitted to yourself that you probably won’t leave the comfort of this home, you can spend sun-drenched days in and around the private pool. 

Other than the beach, or surrounding villages, you can take a walk to the local tavernas for lunch, but be sure to make it back home in time for sunset. Pour a glass of wine or grab an ice-cold beer and admire the ocean view just visible through the trees as the setting sun paints the sky a variety of colours. 

Spyo's Hideaway

This tranquil countryside retreat on the picturesque island of Paxos is as pretty as a picture. The property boasts breathtaking views of the sea and Antipaxos and is blissfully private, surrounded by 1.5 acres of peaceful grounds. Despite its secluded location, the charming hamlet of Ozias is just a short stroll away, with quaint kafenions full of authentic Greek charm. The villa also offers easy access to the coast's hidden coves (a five-minute drive), the dramatic rugged cliffs of the western coast, and of course, the majestic Epiros Mountains.

Come late evening time, the laid-back vibe of the villa's interior, adorned in beachy designs and a soothing white and beige colour palette, invites you to unwind and drift off to sleep in utter comfort.

You’ll be able to put together delicious meals in the small but well-equipped kitchen and share them at the indoor dining table, or better still, outside. 

The garden and pool area create an idyllic oasis, with many nooks to get comfy and enjoy the sun. And of course, with those views around, how could you not feel happy? A night of restful sleep will find you in one of the two snuggly bedrooms – wake up restored and ready for more island adventures. While the interiors are fairly basic, they're inviting and practical for a coastal retreat. You’ll need a car to best explore the island, but there is private parking here. Kipos Beach is just a 2-kilometre drive away, and the Blue Caves lie just beyond. Closer to home, the traditional villages of Gaios, Lakka, and Loggos are charming options for day trips. 

Paxoi Paradise

You’ll find this laidback retreat, with its coastal-inspired colour scheme and grounding natural textures, just ten metres from Agia Paraskevi Beach. Waking up here is a pleasure, especially when an Ionian breeze drifts through the open windows. We love the cosy outdoor seating around the pool and the fact that you can walk down to the beach from the property. The villa is surrounded by orchards and olive trees, which compliment its setting and add to the serene feel of the place. 

Ode To Kerkyra

This charming villa can be found in picturesque Sinaredes, a traditional village full of narrow streets, stone buildings, and ancient churches. Glyfada Beach is only ten minutes away by car, but you’ll feel a million miles from the hustle and bustle at this tranquil home. We love the stunning views, which can be admired both inside and out thanks to the glass frontage. The private pool sits amid lovely landscaped grounds with areas for alfresco dining, as well as plenty of room for lounging in the Cretan sunshine. 

Ancient Oasis

Situated above Agios Nikitas, this villa, with its knockout views, is an ideal spot for couples and small families alike. The outdoor space offers a private pool and dining area, so you have everything you need to relax and socialise at home, though we’d recommend checking out some of the local tavernas. Located on the west coast of Lefkada, the home is an excellent base if you’re looking for pristine white sand beaches or want to explore the island’s traditional villages.

Nestled in the hillside, offering sweeping views of the Ionian coastline, this villa is ideal for two couples or a small family. The living space opens onto a generous terrace, where you’ll find a dining area, comfortable seating and, our favourite feature, the infinity pool. Though if you’re staying with little ones, they’ll need to be supervised at all times. You’ll need a car here if you plan on exploring, but fortunately, Lefkada Town is within easy driving distance, and you’re not far from Pefkoulia Beach.

Standing on top of a hill on the southern coastline of Lefkas, this stone villa not only has a beautiful view of the dazzling Ionian Sea, but the neighbouring islands of Ithaca and Kefalonia can also be spotted.

It's a truly idyllic backdrop against which guests can embrace the alfresco way of life, whether that's paddling about in the swimming pool, soaking up the sunshine while reading on a lounger or dining under the pergola. There's a stone barbecue to help make the last of these a reality, too.

When you eventually head into the home, you'll find an interior that adds a modern spin to the traditional whitewashed design synonymous with Greek islands. Two living rooms provide plenty of space in which to relax, while the Jacuzzi bathtub in one of the ensuites is another superb option.

We're guessing you didn't come all the way to Greece not to visit the seaside and Vasiliki beach, plus a small selection of restaurants and bars, is only ten minutes away in the car. There's another smaller sandy spot that can be reached by walking forty-five minutes from the home, as well.
