While it would be a stretch to say this villa lies a stone's throw from Kogevina Beach – unless you've got a particularly mighty overarm on you – the fact of the matter is that it isn't very far from the invitingly blue waters of Avlaki Bay.

It's so close that you can gaze out at the coastal scenery from the first-floor balcony. Head down to the covered terrace a level below and the view's no longer there, but you are greeted by one of the home's best amenities – the large swimming pool surrounded by loungers that's sure to be appreciated during the hottest part of the year.

Behind the villa's peach-covered walls, the living quarters are simple in style with the colour palette rarely veering from bright whites and neutrals, and the furnishings and finishes are decidedly understated, too. However, we don't see this as a problem, especially as the basics are nailed so well – just look at the kitchen and smartly tiled bathrooms to see what we mean.

When a visit to the beach is in order, you only have two hundred metres to walk until you're standing on the sand and the larger Avlaki Beach isn't that much further down the coastline. The town of Kassiopi can also easily be reached on foot whenever you need restaurants or shops.

When faced with as stunning surroundings as this, it's only natural that the home's interior doesn't wow in the same way. However, even though the design is hardly the freshest, it's a solid choice, with lots of natural light and a contemporarily styled kitchen. Laid out as three separate apartments but rented as a whole, it’s the perfect place for groups or families. The lower floor contains four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a lounge, while two annexes on the first floor each contain a bedroom, kitchenette, lounge and bathroom. With separate entrances but plenty of shared outdoor space, you’ll be able to enjoy a sociable holiday with privacy when you want it. The two private pools offer spectacular views across the sea to the Albanian mountains in the distance and sandy Kalamaki beach is on your doorstep.

With views overlooking the bay of Agios Stephanos, the romantic setting of this home had us sold at first glance. For some, the styling of the interiors may seem a little dated, however, there is no compromise on comfort – and the panoramas from the terrace certainly make up for it. Conveniently located less than a five-minute walk from the beach, shops and restaurants, exploring the surrounding area and relaxing at the villa strike an easy balance. 

Ocean Paradise

This hillside haven welcomes you to enjoy its sweeping views across Agios Stephanos and a wonderful sense of privacy. And while it feels secluded, it’s also just a short (although steep) walk downhill to the nearest beach and taverna. For those looking to adventure further afield, your host can help organise car rentals and boat trips. There’s also a concierge service and a local shopping delivery service – making this the perfect spot for pure relaxation.
