Some typically Skyrian architectural features have been retained — including a large patch of exposed rock in the dining room — but it's fair to say that the interior has been modernised over the years. This means that you'll find whitewashed walls, sleek bathrooms and a rather smart kitchen complete with an island.

Just two minutes' walk from the home, you'll find a pair of Museums, one devoted to archaeology and the other to ethnology and folklore. Skyros's whitewashed streets are pleasant to wander about aimlessly, but Magazia Beach is only a ten-minute walk for when you want a dip in the sea.

From the grand oak staircase to the terrazzo tiles in the hallway, it's a visual feast for nostalgic travellers.
