The space inside is lovely too, though the living room is on the small side – and at full occupancy two guests will be sleeping there on a sofa bed. Happily, you’re just a short walk from the beach so you’re unlikely to spend much time inside. Naxos town is only 10 kilometres away, too, ideal for evenings out.

In a privileged position overlooking the Aegean Sea, this quaint whitewashed villa with mint green accents is all about slow Mediterranean living. Should you want to take a break from the heat, the homespun living space is the perfect place to unwind with a refreshing beverage. We loved the tiled floors and soothing cream colour scheme. 

Spend afternoons relaxing on the beach just 150 metres from your abode or stretch your legs with a twenty-minute stroll to the sandy shores of Agios Prokopios. If you’re in the mood for history and culture, the port town of Naxos is a ten-minute drive away. Admire the Venetian architecture, visit the Archaeological Museum and fill up on local fare in a family-run taverna.

There’s also a concierge service available with sweet extras like beauty treatments and babysitting services – a great option for those travelling with children.

Perched on a hilltop within walking distance of Agios Prokopios Beach and a short car ride from Naxos, this room offers a restful stay for a couple or solo traveller. There’s no kitchen here, so you’ll need to head out at mealtimes. Fortunately, there are plenty of tavernas within driving distance of your doorstep. Our favourite feature was the terrace – we couldn’t get enough of the private pool, especially after a nap on the loungers.

When you arrive, why not head straight to the pool area and lounge in the sunshine before slipping into the cooling waters of your private pool where you can swim to the edge and admire the turquoise ocean.

Within a two-minute walk, you can be on an almost-private beach that the villa overlooks, or wander slightly further to the golden sands of Agios Prokopios Beach, which is 700m away.

Have a day out at the Aqua Fun waterpark – just a four-minute drive away – which provides fun for all the family. Or, if Greek culture is what you’re looking for why not visit the Temple of Apollo and Archaeological museum of Naxos, the Archaeological site of Yria Naxos, or the Temple of Demeter – all within easy driving distance.

Return home in the evening and cook up some delicious Greek cuisine on the barbecue before dining alfresco under the shaded pergola, with stunning views while you eat. Then, end the day with a movie night in the villa’s cinema, and watch a film set in Greece such as Captain Corelli’s Mandolin or Mama Mia.

While hiring a car is advisory if you wish to explore Chora – it's 7 kilometres away – we wouldn't blame you if you'd rather stay closer to home. There are also lovely spots on the terrace to arrange an at-home yoga class, not to mention sleek living areas inside when you fancy unwinding out of the sun.

You can stroll easily to Paralia Glifada, but you’ll need a car to get around further.

Bedrooms are a soothing medley of fawn, coffee and cream and we love the bamboo divider separating the en-suite from the master.  

If you're not lounging by the private pool or socialising in the hotel bar, perhaps head into the beachy village of Agios Prokopios. It's a ten-minute walk away and you'll find a handful of charming tavernas and a soft-sanded beach with turquoise shallows.

And when you’re ready to explore, Naxos Town, with its lively port and charming old town, is a 16-kilometre drive away.

Located on the east coast of Naxos, a kilometre from Agios Prokopios Beach, this quiet retreat is an excellent choice for a couple or solo traveller looking to while away the hours in the Mediterranean sunshine. Inside the home, it’s pared-back and functional with a neutral colour scheme and raw and refined natural textures. Set in a quiet area, Cycladic Serenity offers privacy while also being an ideal base for exploring the whole island. Designed in the traditional Cycladic architecture and furnished in a modern minimal style, this villa provides an indulging and unique experience.

With all necessary amenities, this villa accommodates up to 4 persons. The ground floor features a master bedroom with a double bed and direct access to the pool. The upper floor offers a private terrace with amazing sea views perfect for enjoying sunsets and breakfasts with shadow.

The villa's kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances, and there is a spacious bathroom with shower. The cozy living room includes a comfortable couch that can be set up as a double bed and a flat-screen TV with internet and Netflix access. Each room is air-conditioned and has its own TV. If you can peel yourself away from this crowd-pleasing villa, we recommend taking the fifteen-minute drive to Naxos' organised beach for a change of scenery. Although we wouldn't blame you if you stayed at home and whiled away the hours on the beach just steps from your private pool. 

Keep The Lights On

Compact but cosy, this stylish apartment may be petite, but it has all the luxe touches you'll need. Mornings here begin with a coffee on the balcony, followed by an afternoon dip in the private pool. As the day draws to a close, end the evening with an alfresco glass of wine as the sun goes down before getting cosy in front of the fireplace. Mixing classic Cycladic design with an antique flair, the living area is an excellent spot to kick off your shoes and relax. A DVD player and movie library will keep you entertained during chilled nights at home, while the two sumptuous bedrooms promise a good night's sleep. We also love the sleek bathrooms – the high-end toiletries, fluffy bathrobes and lavish rainfall showers are hard to resist. 

The kitchen here is tiny, so we don't think you'll be doing a lot of cooking – not a problem, considering Naxos' array of tavernas, bars and restaurants is only a seven-minute drive away. Also close by is Agios Prokopios Beach, about five minutes by car – perfect for when you crave the feeling of sand between your toes.

This villa might be on the outskirts of Naxos Town, within easy walking distance of all waterfront bars, restaurants and traditional tavernas, but it’s blissfully quiet. That could be because it’s a bit like a palace, set in oodles of gardens. The design is traditionally Cycladic with smooth, white stone hewn into towers and walls. We love the moat-like swimming pool that surrounds a stone terrace accessed by a humped bridge. Wooden decks and raised stone patios house beanbag chairs, loungers and stone sofas shaded by macrame parasols. 

This place was made for entertaining, with a sleek taverna-like bar and semi-open kitchen the ideal spot for drinks and meals in the open air. Stone archways lead to raised lounges with Moroccan-style sofas and there’s a second kitchen with an old fireplace and pots and pans hanging from the centre island like the kitchens of old Greece. Bedrooms are pure romance, with candle-filled alcoves and Cycladic tradition radiating from thick stone walls. Those who value privacy above all else can opt for the separate guest cottage in the gardens.

It's five minutes on foot to the centre of Naxos Town, and also a five-minute walk to the crystal shallows of St George Beach, perfect for swimming.
