If you want to soak up the history of Dubrovnik, this sixteenth-century townhouse, overlooking terracotta-roofed houses and cobbled streets, could be just what you’re looking for. Located at the heart of Dubrovnik Old Town, you’ll have all the top historical attractions on your doorstep and you’re just a short stroll from Stradun Street for shops, bars, and restaurants. The home’s traditional decor might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but the exposed beams, dark wooden furniture, and stone walls certainly suit the historic location. While the house sleeps six, the twin room is very small so is best suited to children or a single guest.

You’ll fall in love with this beautiful home before you’ve even kicked off your shoes. It’s been designed with elegance and convenience at its core, so everything you might need is close to hand in this oh-so-attractive holiday home. 

The outside space is breathtaking, with terraces creating different charming areas to spend time in. Sip your morning espresso on the dining terrace that overlooks Dubrovnik’s fortress, before moving to the pool for a leisurely dip. Stretch out in the sun to dry off, admiring sea views and sipping fresh lemonade. 

Later on, you might move to the shade of the courtyard to read a book or make plans for lunch. Perhaps you’ll cook on the barbecue and dine alfresco? If you don’t fancy cooking, you can simply stroll into town to choose from the excellent restaurants nearby – this villa is at the heart of Old Town. 

Inside, the villa is traditional and rather grand. You’ll find exposed stone walls and beamed ceilings, as well as art and curios. The bedrooms have been designed in the style of luxury hotel suites, so you’re all but guaranteed a glorious night’s sleep. The annex is home to a gym, sauna and hot tub – there really is something for everyone here.

To find a villa that’s this extravagant, this spacious and this luxurious is a rarity so close to Dubrovnik’s famed Old Town. You’re just outside the Pile Gate here, the stone-carved entranceway to the shambling alleyways and oranged-roofed splendour of the Old Town. So you can pick your moment, before or after the cruise ship passengers fill the streets of the Old Town and explore when it’s quiet.

Waiting out the crowds at this sanctuary of a villa is no chore either. There’s a pristine swimming pool for cooling off in the heat of the day, a full outdoor kitchen with a wood-fired oven for lunches that last the afternoon, and myriad terraces and patios hidden by palm trees and verdant greenery. Pick your own Mediterranean vegetables from the garden and perhaps enjoy a game of bocce on the court in the sunshine. 

Inside, you can feel the 200-year-old history of this lavish villa, with frescoed ceilings in the bedrooms and white-wash wood keeping things breezy downstairs. As well as several lounges and living rooms for downtime, there’s a dedicated meeting room with a projector if you’re planning a corporate getaway or want to work remotely in style. Though if you want to spend your time here relaxing, there’s a Finnish sauna that’s sure to do the job.

From the terrace of this beautiful old villa, you can see Lokrum Island floating off the coast of Dubrovnik in the Adriatic Sea. You’re right on the seafront here with nothing between you and the cliffs down to a secret sandy cove (Betina Cave Beach) but a private road. On top of this, it’s just a short drive or leisurely fifteen-minute stroll to the walls of Dubrovnik’s famous Old Town where narrow alleys are home to bars, restaurants and cafes galore.

Though you’d be forgiven for spending all your time at the villa itself. The terrace is home to an inviting swimming pool and a sunken, overflow Jacuzzi where you can soak with a cold drink in hand, looking out over the Adriatic Sea. Dine outdoors on the patio covered by a rustic wooden ceiling and lit by candelabra. Each terracotta-floored terrace is bursting with flowers in pots and the stone walls are draped with botanica making each balcony and outdoor lounge feel like an ancient Venetian’s holiday home.

The highlight inside has to be the conservatory-style lounge and dining room with a wall of glass windows looking out to the sea. In here, stone columns add a sense of grandeur. Across the entire home, you’ll find myriad lounges for the group to spread out, each just as lavish as the last. Bedrooms are luxurious as hotel suites with big beds and Jacuzzi tubs in the ensuites.

This is a beautiful 306 sqm, three-level beachfront villa with private heated swimming pool situated in the Dubrovnik area of Croatia. The villa is ideal for families and is close to shops, restaurants, and other amenities. Guests can also enjoy nearby activities such as cycling, hiking, and horse-back riding. The villa comprises a large living room, dining area, well-equipped modern kitchen, wine cellar, two guest bathrooms with toilet, and three double bedrooms with ensuite showers. Outside there is a garden with a heated swimming pool surrounded by a terrace with sun loungers and umbrellas. Additionally, there is an outdoor shower, shady relaxation area with comfortable outdoor seating, large lawn, and shady outdoor dining area with a wood-burning fireplace. Indulge in a wine tasting in the elegant wine cellar, sit and read a book in front of the large floor-to-ceiling windows that allow the dappled Dalmatian sunlight to stream through, or join together with the rest of your party for a meal in the impressive dining room. 

Step outside and you will find a lovely pool area surrounded by wide terraces, again offering plenty of places where you can take the weight off and enjoy some quality time together, or simply savour a moment of 'me time'. We love the outdoor dining area, and can just imagine spending long balmy evenings, sipping a crisp glass of wine and feasting on local produce prepared into something delicious in the stylish outdoor kitchen. 

During your stay, you will have access to the home's complimentary electric bikes and a Vespa, meaning you can head out on two wheels and explore the wonderful surrounding area. There's so much to love about this freshly renovated historic home, that it's hard to know quite where to start. But as it's probably the leading reason visitors flock to this corner of the Dalmatian coast, we'll start with the view. Set high above the Old Town, in the most sought-after part of Dubrovnik, it looks out over that postcard-perfect vista – just as it has for centuries. If its old stone walls could talk, it could tell us tales of this dramatic city, reaching back to the Renaissance. 

Today, the interior has been respectfully brought up to 21st Century expectations, with smart, neutral decor and a mix of contemporary and classical furnishings giving it a stylish, sophisticated look. Bright and comfortable, the living and dining space is a sociable room with incredible views. There's a fully equipped kitchen if you're cooking at home and a wine cellar in the basement, or you can cook in the traditional summer method – outside on the barbecue.

And while the courtyard garden and your private pool are no doubt the stars of the show here, we found ourselves falling in love with the little balcony belonging to the master bedroom on the top floor. We dare you to find a better view of this UNESCO city anywhere. Just a short walk to the nearest pebble beach and a short drive into the city centre, it's a sensational home in an enviable location.

This towering villa sits in an enviable spot in central Dubrovnik. It's around a fifteen-minute walk to the shambling alleyways and historic sights of the famous Old Town, while also being a short stroll from the nearest pebble beach – Betina Cave Beach. But there’s plenty to keep you entertained at the villa itself.

Tiered terraces hang on the hillside, affording fabulous views of Lokrum island, floating out in the crystal Adriatic Sea. Out here, you’ve got a private pool to cool off and, one level up, a sunken Jacuzzi tub for a soothing soak. Dining in the shade of a parasol is a delight with that view to keep the group talking. 

We love the interior, where the light fitting above the dining table looks like an installation in a modern art gallery, and the armchairs could feature in a mid-century museum. Vibrant pictures adorn the walls throughout and the paint-splattered walls of the second living room feel like a work of art in itself. Painting isn’t the only pursuit celebrated in this home – the chrome kitchen could be the canvas for a professional chef and there’s a piano for the maestro of the group in the turret lounge. Bedrooms are sanctuaries, some with access to private balconies, but our favourite has to be the room at the top of the house with its selection of literature for a quiet read. 

The Pearl Diver

A serene stay awaits you at this elegant villa. Built using traditional stone walls and wooden beams, it’s absolutely packed with character, with opulent touches in the candle chandeliers and ornate tiled floors that give it a luxurious feel. Originally built way back in the 16th century, it’s a villa that’s absolutely steeped in history, and was once monitored by the Croatian Institute for the Protection of Monuments because of its historical value to the town. We absolutely love the charming decor and artwork, that make this house feel like a real home.

You can start your day with a dip in your private outdoor hot tub to get the blood pumping, before having a rest in your swinging egg chair and listening to the world wake up. Tuck into delicious Croatian pastries for breakfast around your trendy dining set. Have a nap in the morning sunshine on one of the loungers. Cook up some Croatian kebabs on your barbecue for a tasty lunch. In the evenings, gather under your covered terrace to toast cocktails and enjoy conversations under the stars.

Based in the heart of Cavtat’s Old Town, you’ll be within easy reach of friendly restaurants and vibrant bars, where you can have a fantastic night out. You’re also close to many gorgeous beaches where you can enjoy a sea swim and sunbathe.
