The pared-back, fuss-free interiors may not suit guests looking for a characterful, lived-in home. But you can’t help but swoon at the vast private terrace commanding sea views. Conveniently close to the Achziv National Park and to the heart of Nahariya, you can easily make the most of some of Israel's most beautiful beaches. One such place is Achziv Beach, a cove of golden sand and azure waters, where the little ones can spend hours making sandcastles while the grown-ups can sip on beer and lounge on the beach. Next to the beach is also the national park of Achziv, with ancient ruins from the Phoenician era to explore, plus wide lawns that are perfect for afternoon picnics.

There’s only one bedroom, so at full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living space – if you’re hoping for more privacy, we’d recommend a maximum guest count of two. The decor here isn’t the most sleek or modern, but we still think it’s a good shout for those hoping for a comfortable place to rest their heads in the city.

As soon as we laid eyes on the hallway draped with pretty grapes vines and a peaceful water feature wall, we knew this place was going to be good. Situated on artsy Neve Tzedek's busiest street, Molkho, it's a stone's throw away from quirky cafe's, fantastic restaurants and bohemian boutiques. We particularly loved the immaculate parquet flooring, the brilliantly bright living room and the luxurious double bed. And, although it doesn't have a dining table, the balcony features a sweet little seating area.

Oceanology is just two minutes away from the Mediterranean. It’s so close that you can see it from the balcony. The high-end bedding makes for a high-quality sleeping experience, and we love that it also comes with access to hotel amenities like a gym and spa. On the fifth floor of a restored 1920s building, we find Lady Sunshine. This two-bedroom home brings a lot to the table with its gorgeous views of Tel Aviv’s fast-changing skyline and the transparent wall that adds a luminous feel to the space. The immediate neighbourhood isn’t the most attractive part of the city, but you’re within easy access to both the beach, Carmel Market and some of Allenby Street’s more charming offshoots.

This stylish home might be right in the action, but located on a low-key side street, it’s pleasantly quiet with a suburban feel. The balcony, surrounded by greenery and equally peaceful, can comfortably seat six – a lovely oasis for entertaining guests or enjoying your morning coffee. Within five to ten minutes by public transport from the central areas of Tel Aviv (including the beach), this home makes the perfect base for exploring the city.

Modern but still very homely, and stylish without being over-the-top, New Dimensions is the perfect family home. The kitchen is a little small, but we love the communal spaces – the dining area with well-curated art is our favourite. It’s also within walking distance to Nachalat Binyamin and Carmel Market, with many of Tel Aviv’s most beloved restaurants and coffee shops nearby.

A neutral Scandinavian colour palette marries modern elegance and decorative vases picked up on travels in Asia to form Birds of Passage. We love this home for all of its exquisite details like the industrial concrete finishes, a Moroccan-style Beni Ourain rug, state-of-the-art kitchen appliances with a New York vibe and the fluffy, luxurious textures in the bedroom. Suitable for someone who appreciates stylish and charismatic design that’s also useful, this home mixes and matches a little bit of everything from all over the world. 

Birds of Passage

Peachy Harmony definitely isn’t located on the most charming corner of Allenby Street, but it’s well-connected to the beach and some of the cooler stretches of the hectic street. Banana Beach is less than 10 minutes away, and so is Carmel Market. popular Nachalat Binyamin and many of the trendy cafés and restaurants that are popping up along Allenby Street and its offshoots. This one-bedroom home lacks a little soul, but it spoils you with modern amenities and a location that’s hard to beat - especially if you’re looking for a mix of sea and city.

With velvet and pastel hues aplenty, there’s definitely something intriguing about Pastel Quartz. Located in a restored Bauhaus building on Nachalt Binyamin, you’re within walking distance to a lot of Tel Aviv’s most popular hang-outs, and you’re also pretty lucky with the views from the terrace. Even though it’s a little bare in places, the design is cohesive, and we especially like how each bedroom comes with a different colour scheme.

Aquatic’s black-and-white colour scheme stands in beautiful contrast to the glistening Mediterranean. Modern to its core, it comes with hotel-like amenities (spa, gym, and cleaning once a day, free of charge) and luxurious bed linens. If you feel like cooling down, the sea is just a two-minute walk away, so you can be relaxing on the beach in no time.

While it lacks a little in the character department, Sweet Harmony spoils you with a location that’s hard to beat. In less than ten minutes, you can be lying on a sandy beach without a care in the world. And when you’ve had enough of that, you can grab a post-beach bite at the cafes and restaurants along one of the cooler stretches of Allenby Street and its offshoots. Even though the immediate neighbourhood is on the more hectic side (when it comes to traffic), it’s also a lively part of Tel Aviv that’s extremely well-connected to the rest of the city.

Tucked away on a Ben Yehuda Street offshoot, Stracciatella is close to everything you want to be close to. There are lots of lively restaurants and bars nearby, and you’re only a short walk from breath-taking Gordon Beach. We like the minimalist undertones with splashes of colour, but our favourite thing about this home is definitely the luxurious bathrooms.

It’s safe to say that Rock & Roll has plenty to offer. Inspired by the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, it’s the kind of home that’s full of personality. The bedrooms don’t quite measure up to the grandeur of the rest of the apartment, but the sweeping city and sea views certainly do. It’s in Sarona, a popular part of Tel Aviv with a mix of high rises and historic buildings, authentic neighbourhood markets and trendy restaurants.

It’s an elegant two-bedroom home in a newly renovated building with industrial chic exposed air-conditioning vents, and stylish animal-themed pillows that add a playful touch to the streamlined home. With its Scandinavian-esque look, the dining table is the heart of the home, perfect for a casual dinner. We also love that the building is operated like a hotel, so you’ll get a cleaning once a day, completely free of charge.

Luminous and modern, A Simple Smile is the perfect post-beach hangout. And if you’re feeling hungry, Carmel Market is nearby too. Especially well-suited to a family or group of friends visiting Tel Aviv to experience the city, we know this home won’t disappoint. It is on the smaller side though, so you have to be okay with not having heaps of space.

In 2003, Tel Aviv was designated World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO due to its unique collection of Bauhaus architecture. The building in which this apartment can be found is among this number and the interior is equally deserving of praise in our eyes.

Raw sandstone walls, concrete ceilings and bare wooden floorboards in the main living space lend an industrial feel, although the furnishings are chic by comparison — you only have to look at the tufted sofa, sleek coffee table and equally svelte breakfast bar seating in the kitchen to see what we mean. The pristine white bedrooms and marble-walled ensuites live up to this stylish standard, and there's even a sunny balcony with some seating found off one of the sleeping quarters. 

There’s a concierge in the building for any questions you may have and daily cleaning is also included. Better still, the hosts have an agreement with a local gym so guests can use the facilities for free. When you're in the mood for exploring, there's a wealth of attractions that lie nearby, from the myriad art galleries and restaurants in Neve Tzedek to Charles Clore Beach only a quarter of an hour's walk from the front door.

While it’s not the biggest home, we love that it feels so personal. Brimming with knick-knacks, turquoise splashes of colour, and eye-catching art, it’s easy to see that Ruthi and Am have put a lot of effort and love into designing this home.
