Celadon is the delicate shade of jade green that makes up the background colour of the plethora of trees surrounding the house from where this gorgeous house gets its name. The property is a stunning house. Contemporary design meets ancient artistry. Large antique double wooden doors stand at the entrance to the house inviting all to cross the threshold in hushed tones. Along the polished hallway leads to an open area with the infinity edge pool positioned between two elegant pillars framing incredible ocean views. Stairs float upwards past the kitchens into a large living room that in turn leads to a dining verandah overlooking the pool. Also on this level are two ensuite double-bed guest rooms both with private terraces.

Aside from the home’s gorgeous setting, there’s plenty more to be excited about here. In the outdoor areas, you’ll love the huge infinity pool, along with a pool pavilion and an alfresco dining space. You can also enjoy a variety of games and activities here, including basketball and badminton. And let’s not forget the private chef who’ll prepare all your meals for you, using vegetables and herbs fresh from the garden. While we love the tranquil location, it does mean that you’ll need a car to reach the coast and all the attractions.

Boasting terraced gardens, a saltwater pool on the lower level, and direct access to the seafront, this villa is not to be passed up. Each bedroom benefits from air conditioning and fitted mosquito nets, so a good night’s sleep is guaranteed, and the living area provides plenty of space for the whole group to spread out. Experienced surfers will be pleased to know that between mid-December and early April, they can paddle out to the left-hand surf break from the garden gate. But if you’d prefer to take it easy, we recommend heading to Jungle Beach.

It's spread across several pavilions, and at the heart of the complex is the swimmable lake, which provides hours of fun for little ones and grown-ups alike. Although, with a zip line, private pool and even a skate park here, there'll be something to entice every member of your group. Alongside the fantastic amenities, you'll also have access to on-site staff such as housekeeping and a cook – plus, your host can arrange day trips, airport transfers and other concierge services, too. 

The Almond Leaf

Offering both colonial elegance and modern luxury, this villa is set among picturesque rice fields, just a short drive from Galle and its surfer-friendly beaches. The villa consists of two separate buildings, the main house with four bedrooms and the house by the pool with two bedrooms, so if you’re travelling as a group, you can enjoy your own space when you want it. Location-wise, you’re not far from the coast where you can surf, spot whales and dolphins, and watch the stilt fishermen in action.
