We've fallen hard for this exquisite villa nestled amongst the pine forests of the Ouirgane National Park – and with panoramic views of the Atlas Mountains like these, can you blame us?

With knockout vistas, birdsong and the occasional goat roaming by for company, it would be impossible not to switch off here. While away the day beside the private plunge pool terrace or mooch over to the shared infinity swimming pool before retreating to your rooftop terrace to toast the day's end. Time it right, and you'll be rewarded with the most sensational sunsets. Or take things inside to hunker down beside the fire – those views will be right there with you through the magnificent French windows. And when it's finally time to lay your heads, you'll love the serene feel of the raid-inspired bedrooms overlooking an intimate inner courtyard and boasting separate en-suite bathrooms. 

If you fancy a change of scene (doubtful), vibrant Marrakech is a 65km drive away. Or treat yourself to a spa treatment followed by dinner at Kasbah Tamadot (Richard Branston's hideaway) – a twenty-minute drive. After something a little less showy? Then the charming historic town of Asno (a twenty-minute drive away) will bring all the Berger vibes you're chasing with its beautiful red clay architecture and Atlas Mountain backdrop.

The kaleidoscopic sights, sounds and smells of Marrakech's atmospheric medina all fade into the background the moment you step inside this picture-perfect haven of peace and tranquillity amongst the chaos.

The owners originally picked this place up in 2001 before adding two adjoining properties a number of years later. The result, we're sure you'll agree, is nothing short of spectacular. In addition to four Junior Suites in the riad, there are two further bedrooms in the douiria – perfect for multigenerational families or groups of friends looking to maintain some privacy.

The private outdoor pool is a real rarity in this section of the city and provides some welcome respite from the occasionally oppressive summer heat. In addition, the on-site hammam is our latest must-have addition to any Marrakech stay.

With a private chef on site, there's no need to rise early and start preparing breakfast for your family and friends. Rachida can even prepare sumptuous lunches and dinners on request – all served on the open-air terrace, with breathtaking views over the rooftops towards the iconic minaret of Koutoubia Mosque. Alternatively, you could always wander the maze-like lanes in search of some of the Red City's most outstanding restaurants.

The Spice Route

Although situated in the heart of Marrakech, this traditional riad is a place for a family or group of friends to switch off and relax. Dedicated staff are on hand to make your stay as stress-free as possible, and breakfast is provided each morning. There’s a private pool for cooling off on hot afternoons, and the roof terrace is the ideal spot to enjoy a mint tea in the evenings. Your host can arrange for a private chef to take care of mealtimes, but if you’d prefer to eat out, there are plenty of restaurants on the doorstep.

You'll need to climb stairs here, and the home is set in a pedestrian area so parking directly outside will be tricky, but there are paid parking options nearby. If you don't drive though, you'll find restaurants and spas within walking distance, as well as public transport for getting around.
