We came to the conclusion that this Phoenix home has a very different interior and exterior. Behind the front door, guests will be greeted with a space that has a distinct boho edge — think macramé decorations, a plethora of house plants and a penchant for tan leather. It's all very calming. However, the home's outside space is geared towards entertainment, rather than relaxation. Just outside the glass doors, a bar area sits underneath the covered terrace and beyond this, there's an invitingly blue swimming pool. As if that wasn't enough, there's also a children's play area and a putting green on which budding golfers can practise. Nearby, you can drive to both Scottsdale and Phoenix in around twenty minutes. Frank Lloyd Wright's impressive winter home, Taliesin West, is a similar distance away, too.

This Phoenix home has some serious swimming pool game. The pool is fed by seven waterfalls and has won awards for its design. Taking a dip or soaking in the integrated hot tub is like sliding into a pool in a magical grotto, uplit at night. The yard is set up for all kinds of fun and games, with beach volleyball (bring your own ball), a basketball court, cornhole and a ping pong table by the pergola-covered bar. A gas grill can fuel sports tournaments long into the evening and a fire pit and chiminea provide a little warmth on cool desert nights. Practice on the putting green before hitting the real thing – there are world-class golf courses within an easy drive this home (like Stone Creek and Paradise Valley). The games continue inside, where a pool table awaits in the huge open-plan kitchen, dining and living room. After the excitement of gameplay all day, the bedrooms are a soothing medley of grey and white with big, comfy beds.

Spend lazy mornings around the pool and in the gardens practising your put while you plan the day's golfing adventure. If you're not one for the course, choose a spa experience in the area to indulge in. By the day’s end, the pool bums, desert hikers, kayakers, and golfers alike will gather back on the patio for a BBQ and a round of pool in the billiards room. If the desert chill sets in, congregate around the open fire in the living room; its reclaimed wood backdrop adding a shade of boho-chic. Sleep sound in sumptuous beds, and whoever gets the master suite can pack the walk-in wardrobe with all the gear necessary for hiking, golfing and hitting to town.

This spectacular home is a bit like having a private resort all to yourself. The luxury villa has a 50 foot long swimming pool, surrounded by palm trees and sun loungers – with the added bonus that you get to pick who you're sharing it with. You'll also find a jacuzzi, big enough to fit 12 people, and a fire pit, for chillier desert nights. Inside is just as special, with a beautiful nature-inspired colour palette and plenty of chic details – think rustic wood furnishings, statement artworks and cosy throws for wrapping around yourself. In the bedrooms, there's crisp linen, driftwood sculptures and even workspaces for catching up on emails. The trendy neighbourhood of Arcadia is on your doorstep, with its cool farm-to-table restaurants and trendy boutiques. If you fancy getting active, drive out into the desert for a hike, or follow one of the trails up iconic Camelback Mountain for incredible views across Arizona.

Pocono Mansion is the best of both worlds. Just a short walk to Scottsdale’s Old town and Fashion mall, as well as the Entertainment district, it has everything at your fingertips - but there’s plenty to keep you occupied at home too. Behind its immaculate lawn and large outdoor entertaining area, this elegant private estate complete with a guest house has large, floor-to-ceiling glass doors that seamlessly connect interior and exterior spaces, leaving you with every urge to take a dip in the private resort pool. In terms of our favourite spot inside, it's a tough call between the media room with your very own pool table or the library/wine room, but ask us in the morning and we might wax lyrical about the amazing master suite which offers one of the best views in the house.

Nestled in the Arcadia neighbourhood, with downtown Scottsdale and Phoenix in easy reach, this smart home is a great place for explorers to kick back and relax. There are plenty of places to hang out with your loved ones, from the cool and crisp living room to the back yard where you can roast marshmallows by the fire pit. The interior design is effortlessly cool with a touch of desert luxury, and we particularly liked the well-equipped kitchen with a chic little breakfast bar. After a morning coffee, culture vultures can head to Scottsdale Arts District, while hikers can take a drive to the trails of McDowell Mountain Regional Park. Reconvene at one of Arcadia's cafés or restaurants to share stories about your adventures, before heading home to mix some drinks in the cocktail shaker and settle in for a movie night.

Set in Scottsdale, guests can soak up the Arizona sunshine from almost anywhere on the property and beyond. With so many extravagant outdoor spaces to choose from, you certainly won't be short on things to do here. In fact, the problem may rest more with if you'll have enough time to try out all of the amenities on offer. Whether it's relaxing by the waterfall pool (with a water slide), unwinding in the jacuzzi or playing a game of tennis, foosball, ping pong, pickleball, basketball or mini-golf – you'll find something to enjoy before having even stepped foot inside. When you can tear yourself away from the glorious sunshine outside, prepare to be impressed by the impeccable soothing interiors which invite guests to relax in style through neutral colours and natural materials. With plenty of designated workspaces dotted around the home, you'll be able to balance work with play when staying here too. Once you've worked up an appetite, hire a private chef to come and cook for you in the state of the art kitchen – you'll have the choice of dining alfresco on the terrace or inside with a view of the garden from the formal dining area. We particularly appreciate the ultra-luxurious mattresses and bedding, ensuring a dreamy night's sleep they'll have you feeling refreshed and ready to discover the local hikes and desert trails in no time. Venture out to one of the many breathtaking and iconic Camelback trails in Scottsdale – Camelback mountain and Black Mountain are both around a thirty-minute drive away. With the Old Town, only fifteen minutes away and Downtown Phoenix, just twenty-five minutes away – lap up your own secluded slice of heaven without being too far away from the centre of town should you need it.

Bold decor, bright pops of colour and fantastic amenities make Warm Words a fun-filled home for a group of friends or a family who don’t just want a bog-standard space to call him on their next Scottsdale vacation. Welcoming six guests, with the option of sleeping two further guests on a sofa bed in the bunk room, there is plenty of space for everyone to spend quality time together or escape to a quiet corner for a peaceful moment for oneself. Although there is no pool to cool off from the hot desert sun, this backyard has been designed to maximise on Scottsdale’s incredible nights. This corner of the USA is famed for its resorts, but you’ll have a private one of your very own at this Scottsdale home. Part of a friendly community, outside the gates there’s enough shopping, food and golf to satisfy enthusiasts of any level. However, inside the doors of this remodelled hillside home, it's all about relaxation with a distinct luxe twist. The master bedroom, in particular, is a showstopper, with its red leather sofa, huge en-suite bathroom and floor-to-ceiling windows which make the most of the view of the desert, as well as the fuchsia bougainvillaea that border the entire house. There are two parts of this home we think will get repeat visits — the restaurant-quality indoor bar area that puts drinks cabinets masquerading as such to shame and the outdoor hot tub. Bring the two together — responsibly, of course — for an evening you won't forget in a long time.

It’s a five-minute walk to Old Town Scottsdale, where you'll have access to world-famous restaurants, shopping, art galleries and more. After exploring, come back to the spacious garden and kick off some games – why not shoot some hoops in the heated pool or challenge the group to a mini-golf championship? The winners can bask in the sunshine while the losing team fires up the barbecue. Rain stopping play? The high-spec kitchen has everything you need for a Michelin-star-level dinner, and we particularly love the mini wine fridge. But if cooking is absolutely not on the cards (well, you are on holiday), your host can arrange for a private chef and a butler, among many other five-star services that will turn your holiday into a completely hands-off affair.

Situated in the heart of downtown Scottsdale, this contemporary townhouse is a great place to call home. Location-wise, you can't beat this neighbourhood – delicious restaurants, bustling shopping centres and lively bars are all on your doorstep, as is the Arizona Canal Trail, which is perfect for morning jogs along the water. When we say that you can walk to everything, we mean it – that's why it's so important to have an inviting space to relax in after a long day on your feet. And trust us, this stylish pad does just that. 

Step inside and you'll find a modern living space with a few Southwest-inspired details – picture ten-foot-high ceilings, crisp white walls and a sienna-coloured leather sofa that invites you to kick back and chill out. The chef-inspired kitchen is super sleek and excellently stocked with all the cookware you'll need – be it Crate & Barrel dishes and wine glasses or a blender and full baking set. Our favourite spot is the balcony, where you can unwind with a glass of bubbly and watch the sunset. And we can't forget all the bells and whistles – smart light switches, a Google Nest, Intelli-Shades and keyless entry ensure living here is a breeze.

Enjoy an abundance of entertainment, from the exquisite pool to corn hole and Jenga, when you stay at The Gnamma. Bright, open desert living beckons you at this family home in the centre of Scottsdale’s Old Town. Cook up some waffles to eat perched on the breakfast bar before heading outside to take in the canyon views or stroll into the heart of your neighbourhood. The desert climate is irresistible, so you’d be forgiven for wanting to spend most of your time in the yard, lounging around the pool, kicking back by the fire pit, and practicing your stroke on the putting green.  Situated on a quiet street not far from what’s considered “the South Beach of the desert,” all the shopping and night’s entertainment is just a walk from your front door. If you have some golfers in the mix, TPC Scottsdale is just a fifteen minute drive from the home. Back home in the evenings, gather and chat around the crackling fire. 


Beat The Heat

Scottsdale is a great place to escape to if you want to live it up. Filled with golf resorts, luxurious spas, and gorgeous homes like Pickle Ball, it's the kind of place that will help you kick back and switch into relaxation mode. This home has is centred around the open-plan kitchen, which is fit for a true chef and has everything you need to whip up the kinds of meals you never have time for at home. Enjoy the fruits of your labour alfresco, then lounge around the private pool that's perfect for splashing around in the heat. In the back garden, an alfresco patio awaits for those who like grilling, while the rest can enjoy drink or relax in the hammock. The weather is usually nice all year-round, but this shouldn't stop you from chilling indoors where you'll be surrounded by designer furniture and green views. In the evenings, get everyone together for a movie night in the luxurious living room and then retreat to the quiet bedrooms for a good night's sleep.

Polished marbled floors lead you to a luxurious living and dining room, six large bedrooms – four of which with en-suite bathrooms – and a master bedroom that opens up into the patio. Your host has gone the extra mile to accommodate all kinds of groups, with the option to split any super-king bed into generous twins, so you'll never have to compromise on personal space. Within the blissful confines of the boundaries, you can also admire mountain views and the breathtaking Arizona sunset as your day draws to a close. Or in a short drive from the estate, you’ll find hiking gems, golfing, shopping, fine dining and the neighbourhood bars and eateries of Old Town Scottsdale.

You guessed it – this charming mid-century-inspired home used to be an architectural studio and was lovingly renovated by your hosts to create an immaculate space for a single traveller, cosy couple or a small family. With its own entrance, charming patio and private pool, you won't even notice that your hosts are right next door. Although if you need them, they'll be delighted to give you local tips and help you out in any way. Nestled in-between Phoenix and Scottsdale, you’re just ten minutes from Old Town Scottsdale with its vibrant nightlife and excellent restaurant choices, as well as Phoenix Zoo and Desert Botanical Gardens. Less than fifteen minutes in the opposite direction and you’ll find yourself in the excitement of downtown Phoenix. Whatever way you go, there's plenty to see and do.

The Architect Studio

Enjoy a relaxing stay in Arizona at this modern home in Scottsdale. Chill out on the outdoor sofas, lie back on a sun lounger, or sit chatting around the fire pit. Alternatively, for a more active day, go for a swim in the pool, play a game of pool and cook up a feast on the barbecue. The home is not far from Scottsdale’s famous entertainment offerings, and you can even start the party early with a drink at the indoor-outdoor bar. Recently remodelled, the appliances and finishes are all high-end here, so whether you want to treat yourself to a steam shower or simply cool off in the impeccable pool, there are wonderful opportunities to do so. Located just two miles from Old Town Scottsdale’s wonderful restaurants, boutique shops and exciting nightlife, staying at Hitched means getting plenty of relaxation and seclusion, while still being close to all the action.

Choose Happiness is a luxurious central Scottsdale affair, complete with anything you need for a happy and relaxed time away. Before we get carried away with the features, it's important to mention that you'll have a plethora of sights and restaurants available within walking distance, but then, you've seen the kitchen, haven't you? The pictures barely do this home justice. When the team that designed this home decided on a mostly natural-tone look, they did so to highlight the high-end minimalist features like the fire pit and the sleek dining area. Arizona being the Copper State, there's a nod to this in the shape of a copper sink in the kitchen, which testifies to the great attention to detail. But let's not forget the more obvious star elements here – a heated pool, an abundance of outdoor seating to hang out, the concierge team at your disposal to book a variety of services, and a private office space for those who can't get completely away from it all.

Minutes from downtown Old Town, the Entertainment District, a choice of ten golf courses and multiple hiking options up and around Camelback Mountain, this newly renovated home is excellently located in the Old Town district of Scottsdale. Though it looks fairly simple from the exterior, this home has been recently renovated and the open-plan kitchen and living space feels fresh, modern and comfortable. The master bedroom is particularly enviable - we loved the love seat next to the bed - but guests should note that one of the bedrooms doubles as a children-oriented games room.

In the backyard, you'll find smart navy sun loungers – stretch out and top up your tan, before taking a refreshing dip under the waterfall feature in the swimming pool.
