This spectacular, gated Mediterranean-style home in Pacific Palisades has sweeping ocean, city, and mountain vistas. We love the large wrap-around balcony – it's perfect for a morning coffee or sundowner. Walls of bi-fold glass doors in the living and family rooms open to a fabulous garden with fountains, a sparkling pool and a jacuzzi. As the Californian light fades, sit by the fire pit with a glass of wine and enjoy some quality time with your loved ones. This place is perfect for entertaining – there's a large media room with full surround sound to keep everyone occupied as well. 

The absolute highlight for us, though, is the large master bedroom with a walk-in closet, fireplace, automated curtains and a fantastic ensuite with jetted soaking tub and incredible views. There's a spacious separate office with room for assistants or filming with its own restroom and kitchenette too.
 
When you're ready to explore, Downtown Los Angeles is a twenty-five-minute drive, or sunbathe on Venice Beach, twenty minutes in the car. For architecture buffs, the Eames House, a landmark home built in 1949, is just a ten-minute ride.

High up on a bluff in Malibu with some of the best far-reaching views of Southern California is this estate perfect for an extravagant retreat or destination wedding. Aside from the endless indoor-outdoor spaces to entertain at this home, its major highlights for us were the two grand pianos and a fully equipped recording studio that are all perfect for a professional rock-star, talent in the making, or a simple music enthusiast who wants to soak up the California creative vibe. For a celebrity-style event, tents are situated nearest the sea on the home’s ten sweeping acres. If it’s just a luxurious Malibu experience you have in mind, the pool and other endless amenities are not too shabby.

Nestled on a quiet cul-de-sac in sunny Encino, this home ticks every box as far as we're concerned. The interior is sophisticated and sparkling, with high ceilings, twinkling chandeliers and traditional wainscoting. Home chefs will adore the modern kitchen – it has everything you need and more, with top-of-the-line built-in appliances, plenty of cookware and a gorgeous kitchen island in the centre of it all. After sharing a meal around the dining table, retreat to one of the two family rooms or gather for a movie night in the home cinema, which has soundproof walls and its own snack bar. When you're not relaxing inside, chances are you'll be soaking up the Cali sunshine in the garden. Nearby Studio City & Universal Studios, this estate is a nice choice for large families or group get-togethers who want to get out and explore some of LA's hot tourist spots. You'll be in northern Topanga, within easy access to the 101 freeway so you can skirt around town in a jiffy. This home certainly won't win any prizes on the character front as it lacks a consistent design aesthetic, but it's huge and comfortably sleeps 14 – so perhaps it'll be just the ticket for your large group.
