This elevated home in Rowland Heights makes the most of its expansive views. From the balcony, the terrace and even from the bath, guests can gaze out at that enticing sun-kissed California landscape. You have space and air to breathe here, but you’re just a thirty-five-minute drive from Downtown LA. The 29-acre Pathfinder Community Regional Park is pretty much on your doorstep, and Disneyland Park is only half an hour’s drive. 

Inside, the main living space is a calm sea of aquamarine, blue and turquoise. From watery, ripple-effect artworks to the soft velveteen greys and turquoise of the plush sofas. High ceilings and large windows make the whole space feel spacious and relaxing. We love the church-style arch window at one end, which is echoed in some of the bedrooms. The other end of the living area is for dining, with the table looking out onto the patio, the lush garden and those wide-open views beyond. There’s an entertaining family room off the kitchen, complete with a pool table and large TV – perfect to plant the kid's in front of as they come down off the high of their visit to Disneyland.

Its immediate neighbourhood is on the gritty side, and you may be able to hear noise from the street from inside the home but it's a nice, well-priced base, with lots of natural light and high quality appliances.

It's quite hard to find a home in Los Angeles where you don't have to rely on a car to get around. Luckily, Best Of Bastet is within walking distance to Gold Line Metro, which will quickly get you to the beach. The surrounding area is also walkable – the tourists haven’t discovered Highland Park yet, and there are all sorts of cafes, restaurants, and independent shops (including several record stores) for you to explore. While the outsides of this home look unassuming, the interior has been designed with an eye for minimalism. The home isn't bare, but rather balanced with sleek wishbone chairs and other Scandi-inspired furniture, which leaves plenty of space for plants. There's a neatly paved terrace right outside where you can chill out and get the fire pit going, as well as a bright living room where you can relax during the day. If you do end up purchasing vinyl during your stay, you'll get to listen to them before you get home too, as this home is equipped with a neat gramophone.

As stunning as this home’s modernist architecture is, we’re even more impressed with the views over LA’s sun-soaked hills. You’ll be able to enjoy them from most of the rooms (including while soaking in the master en-suite’s impressive tub) but nothing compares to sliding open the panoramic sliding doors from the living room and stepping out onto the balcony. Start the days with a bite to eat at the kitchen’s breakfast bar before taking a short drive to explore the sights of downtown Los Angeles. When you get back, spend some down time relaxing on the extra-large sofa before enjoying a meal together in the chic dining area. At night, follow the cascading ceiling lights downstairs to the three luxurious bedrooms, one of which also has its own office space.

This 1920's restored storage facility is perfectly situated in the Arts District and an excellent option for young couples or solo travellers who wish to have freedom and space to enjoy LA. With remnants from it's previous life, this studio apartment has an industrial feel and bright open living space, but may not suit those hoping for individual or separate rooms. So long as this doesn't sway you, you'll also have access to a rooftop with a hot tub, and open community grill, and even two bikes for hire!
