Set in the sought-after Summit Sky Ranch, a short distance from the main town, there’s a real retreat feel to this brand-new home. A dreamy base for holidaying with family or friends, the open layout is perfect for groups looking to socialise or entertain. All the rooms have large windows, to make the most of the mesmerising mountain views. We loved the round swivel chair and the large natural stone fireplace that doubles up as a smart TV in the grand room. When you’re not relaxing indoors, you’ll no doubt be spending most of your time soaking in the hot tub or snuggling by the gas log fireplace on your private patio. If you fancy hitting the slopes, the main ski resorts are 15 – 30 minutes away, but if you can’t tear yourself away from your mountain retreat, we wouldn’t blame you.

It’s worth noting there is a dirt road to access this home so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended, but this is the perfect spot if you’re seeking an idyllic rural retreat. It’s also just a thirty-minute drive to Breckenridge Ski Resort and fifteen-minutes to Fairplay.

Featured in glossy magazines and luxury travel guides, this alpine-style cabin has been lovingly designed by the host family themselves. There’s no denying you’re in the mountains as cathedral-height windows put the view of snow-topped La Plata mountain pride of place in the living room. We’re not sure there’s anything more satisfying than firing up the Vermont-made hearthstone stove while the snow billows outside. Though soaking in the bubbling hot tub on the terrace is a lavish, alternative way to keep warm. The whole place is decked out in mountain-chic style with fur throws and knitted blankets complementing the clapboard walls. Sitting out on the veranda you get a real sense of calm as pine trees shield the cabin from view and you're far from civilisation. A truly magical place, this chalet home in Steamboat Springs has some serious views. In a lofty position overlooking the town, the nearby golf course and Emerald Mountain – all the way to the Sleeping Giant in the distance – this superb home is spacious, comfortable and stylish. Arranged over three levels, there's a choice of four balconies to sit out and admire those incredible views. The double-height living room and the games room feature huge window walls, perfectly framing the scenery outside, while one of the best views comes from the kitchen, where you can gaze over the mountains as you whip up a meal and eat it out on the dining terrace (the sunsets and the views of the local Winter Carnival's fireworks display each year are amazing). While space isn’t one of this home’s strong points – even a solo traveller might find the bathroom a bit of a squeeze – it has everything you need for a comfortable stay and benefits from an enviable position on the edge of downtown Aspen. And more importantly, having received a full makeover in 2022, it’s the kind of place you’ll be happy to come home to after an action-packed day on the slopes.

Rock It to Me

All eyes are on the mountains at this slick, cabin-style apartment in Telluride, whether that be from the floor-to-ceiling windows or as you hit the slopes only eighty metres from home. Hardwood floors, an eye-catching antler chandelier and a modern take on the classic roaring fireplace all give off a serious alpine ambiance, while squashy sofas and a deep bath provide practical comfort after a long day exploring the peaks. The home offers up a charming wooden terrace, where come warm days, you can fire up the barbecue for an alfresco feast or on cooler days, brave a cup of coffee on the wrought-iron furniture and check out the conditions before hitting the slopes. A black, quartz-topped kitchen has everything you need for refuelling, with a good range of utensils for culinary experimentation, though the gondola into the centre of town isn't far if you're in the mood for a night off.

Riding High

With its three-sided fireplace, controllable underfloor heating, and deep bath in the master suite, this home is a cosy place to be after a day exploring the Colorado mountains. Come winter, it's all about skiing or snowboarding, with access to the slopes just steps from the apartment. Thanks to French doors and floor-to-ceiling windows, you can check out conditions before shredding fresh powder – if you're not in the mood, we love curling up with a good book on the grey sofas, underneath the geometric antler art. This home is just two blocks from Aspen's infamous Main Street, which boasts an array of excellent restaurants and cafes, as well as charming independent shops filled with souvenirs and locally crafted trinkets. Inside the home itself, guests will find a cosy living area, decked out with plenty of comfortable seating and a brick fireplace – the perfect spot to rest after a long day in the mountains. 

Cotton Hills

This cosy apartment can be found in the hip LoDo neighbourhood, close to all the attractions and a wealth of bars and restaurants. The perfect base for a couple or a solo traveller, you’ve got a modern kitchen and separate dining area, for gourmet meals or work-from-home sessions, as well as a seriously comfy bed. The whole vibe is elevated by those little hotel style touches, like extra fluffy towels and toiletries. Start your day with a workout in the 24-hour gym, before cooling off in the shared pool. After days out marvelling at the sights, you can look forward to returning to a home just as special. Cook up a meat feast on the barbeque (you're in Colorado after all) before heading out onto the front porch for amazing stargazing opportunities. Don't worry about getting cold, the porch is heated!
