We love this stylish home's location in hip Tribeca, a neighbourhood known for its cobblestone streets lined with fashionable boutiques and chic restaurants. Chinatown is a twenty-minute walk or eight-minute ride, while the One World Trade Centre is eight minutes on foot. The iconic Empire State building is a fifteen-minute drive (just over twenty minutes on the bicycles your lovely host Yvonne provides), or if you fancy some green space, Washington Market Park is a mere two-minute stroll.

Back at this apartment, head up to the gorgeous, private roof terrace and take in the views over the Freedom Tower. Inside, textural 3D artworks adorn the walls, and dark oak floors are enlivened with colourful rugs and furnishings. For the kids, there's a fantastic play area with plenty of toys, books and games. There's a home cinema set up too. Our favourite feature, though, has to be the swing in the living area – so random and yet so right. This playful home is perfect for a family.

Situated on a one-way street in the heart of Greenwich Village that Eleonor Roosevelt once called home, this six-storey Romanesque Revival building makes for a classic New York home from home.

Inside, the spacious apartment blends original nineteenth-century features and modern finishes offering a breathtaking fusion of styles. An open-plan living room/kitchen provides direct access to the outdoors via a balcony, alongside expansive views over downtown. So there's plenty of space to come together and socialise, whether you're stretched out on the sofa or preparing dinner in the handcrafted kitchen. 

Elsewhere, the bedrooms offer a haven of zen-like calm in the middle of Manhattan, with walk-in wardrobes and a Carrara marble en-suite off the main bedroom, adding a touch of luxury. Head upstairs, and you'll uncover a rooftop terrace that offers direct southern vistas over Washington Square Park, MacDougal Alley and the Empire State Building. 

Down at street level, the delights of Greenwich Village await. Undoubtedly Manhattan's most charming neighbourhood, it's attracted the city's quirky and creative types since the sixties. Uproarious comedy clubs and excellent restaurants make it a real nighttime destination, but there's plenty to do during daylight hours. Stroll half a block to the much-loved Washington Square Park, lay out on Pier 45, or wander up to Chelsea Market for cuisine from every part of the globe – both fifteen minutes away.

This charming duplex lies in Manhattan's West Village. Spread over multiple levels with the kitchen up on the mezzanine, groups will have plenty of space here, though you'll need to climb a lot of stairs. If you're looking for a home base while working remotely, you'll find computer equipment and standing desks to maximise productivity. The private garden is spread over two tiers and is equipped for barbecues, with outdoor seating and sun loungers. While children and little ones aren't permitted, we think friend groups will love it here thanks to its proximity to bars, restaurants and shops.

This airy rooftop apartment places you in New York City's Greenwich Village, ideal for a city escape. Spread over the top two floors of a four-storey building, you'll need to climb stairs here. But we think the views from the rooftop terrace are lovely, and there's seating and a table for enjoying evening drinks or alfresco meals up there. Public transport and hotspots like Central Park and the Empire State Building are within easy reach, so whether you're travelling for work or simply sightseeing, you won't get more central than this.

Experience one of New York's trendiest areas from this eclectic loft, nestled in the heart of Soho. With a well-equipped kitchen, breakfast bar and dining table, there's potential for eating in, but the cafes and restaurants lining the streets just outside your doorstep might convince you otherwise. Try a different one every day between visiting Rockefeller Park, Washington Square Park and China Town. Just a four-minute walk to the Hudson River Park, you can spend relaxing moments watching the waters and the world go by. Start your mornings here with a coffee and bagel, and then work up a sweat in the building’s on-site gym. 

Go for leisurely stroll alongside The High Line – which is reachable in just twelve minutes on foot from your door. Or, explore the cafes, bars, and galleries of the West Village – which is a short nine-minute walk away. 

Greenwich village – with its historic LGBT+ venue, The Stonewall Inn – is also not far away, and can be reached within just nine minutes on foot. Whether you're checking out the produce at Union Square greenmarket (five minutes away), browsing the books in the Strand Bookstore (a seven-minute stroll) or grabbing a bite to eat and drink at one of the many bars and eateries in this neighbourhood, you'll be well-placed here to explore vibrant, buzzy Greenwich Village. The apartment is on a tree-lined street, overlooking beautiful gardens and traditional brownstones. It's a small space, but it's got plenty of character, including a decorative marble fireplace, ornate mirror and cushy furniture ideal for snuggling. On relaxed evenings at home, rustle up a delicious meal in the kitchen using your finds from the market before putting on a movie. We think it's perfectly suited for two people, but at a stretch, two more guests can sleep on the futon in the living room.

Location is everything here! Situated on a really charming street in Greenwich Village, The Itty-Bitty is perfectly positioned to some of the city's best restaurants and bars. This is a 300-square foot walk-up, but so long as you don't intend to do some serious cooking or massively spread out, this cosy apartment will do just the trick.

Located in lively Greenwich Village, this bright apartment is trendy inside and out. From here, you're a short walk from countless eateries, cafes, jazz clubs, and off-broadway theatres, so there's plenty to fill your days right on your doorstep. While we love the stylish interiors, living space is limited, so we suggest packing light and a maximum of five people. It's also worth noting that the kitchenette is only suitable for preparing lighter bites, so you'll generally have to order in or sample the local restaurants when it comes to dinnertime.

Take the tastiest bite from The Big Apple when you choose this stellar home. Conveniently based in the very heart of NYC, nestled between Lower Manhattan and SoHo on the famous road of Broadway, this penthouse apartment provides the quintessential New York City experience. Here, you'll be within easy reach of some quality art galleries and quirky museums, as well as sightseeing spots such as Washington Square Park. Inside the home, you'll find contemporary furnishings that still have a warm and welcoming feel. We reckon it makes a fantastic base for exploring this iconic city.

The Secret of Manhattan

Quirky details, like the exposed brick wall and fashion photography prints, inject character into this otherwise minimal home. The bedrooms are on the small side, but the beds are seriously comfortable, with a TV in both. It feels a bit compact, especially with the narrow shape of the kitchen and the dining table taking up most of the communal space. Nonetheless, the location in Nolita makes up for this – surrounded by little shops and cool restaurants, you won’t be spending much time cooking anyway.

This Lower Manhattan neighbourhood is known for its cobblestone streets lined with fashionable boutiques and chic restaurants or soak up the atmosphere in nearby China Town. Located in the gloriously photogenic neighbourhood of Greenwich Village, Frida & Friends is a delight. Brimming with character and natural light, the open-plan living space is a real showstopper. We love the huge sash windows and stylish flourishes throughout. The wood in the kitchen is sourced from an Italian railway station, and this is a typical anecdote: it's a home that's been lovingly crafted by its stylish hosts and everything has a story. It's set across three levels so there's a fair amount of up and down but we won't hold this against an otherwise entirely loveable pad.

Frida & Friends

One of the biggest drawbacks of working from home is how personal living quarters can soon start to look, and feel, like the office. However, it's a fate that this recently renovated townhouse in Greenwich Village manages to avoid. The property is very much geared towards those who can ply their trade without having to do the morning commute, thanks to the Rove workstations in every bedroom and media room, which feature electric standing desks, ergonomic chairs and Logitech hardware. The high ceilings and large windows also make the living area a joy to host meetings or client catch-ups. However, as a result of the lavish amount of internal space, there are plenty of spots where you can escape emails — the private roof deck with a barbecue grill and a view of some of New York's skyscrapers, for instance, or on the saddle of the Peloton bike. What's more, the Lower Manhattan location is perfect for those needing a balance between work and play. The Financial District is a ten-minute cab ride away, while there are jazz clubs and fancy restaurants aplenty in the surrounding neighbourhood for when you want to relax.

Sitting pretty in the ever-changing neighbourhood of Hudson Square, this recently built apartment has a pretty big trick up its sleeve – head out onto the terrace and guests are treated to a glorious view of the Hudson River, Jersey City to the front and some of Manhattan's landmarks to either side. Better still, with this western orientation, it's a fabulous spot for catching the sunset.

It would seem that the architect was only too aware of how beautiful this panorama is as almost every room in the house is blessed with huge windows that are nothing but generous when it comes to natural light. It might take you a moment to get around to giving the interior design a closer look, but when you do, you'll find sophistication in every corner, from the super-sleek kitchen and equally glossy bathrooms to the flourishing house plants and characterful wildlife motifs to be spotted throughout.

It should be highlighted that the home's location is excellent for those hoping to see as much of Manhattan as possible. Tribeca lies within walking distance to the south, Soho sits to the east and Greenwich Village awaits to the north. As such, you won't have to venture far for galleries, restaurants or live music venues.

Your host provides a complete work setup with an ergonomic chair, ultra-high-definition monitor, and a wireless keyboard. Though you’d be forgiven for wanting to stay home for a Netflix movie night with a Manhattan in hand, you’re steps away from Flat Iron’s top restaurants.

Built in 1796, this red-brick townhouse is one of the oldest houses in New York City. While the exterior is a beautiful example of Federal architecture, the interior is all modernity with a sleek gourmet kitchen to please the fussiest of chefs and a huge main bedroom with a free-standing tub in the loft. Those working remotely can make use of the dedicated office room and there are additional workstations in some of the bedrooms. There’s plenty of room to spread out between the main lounge, the movie room downstairs and the private backyard furnished with a dining table.
