This peaceful apartment lies in the midst of Franschhoek, just a ten-minute walk from the village centre. The balcony offers some lovely sunset views and space for alfresco dining. Both bedrooms have en-suites and the twin beds in the second bedroom can be converted into a king bed on request, making it great for couples or friend groups. Children under the age of 12 aren't permitted, but we think families with older children will feel right at home here. You can rent a bike to explore the beautiful area, but we recommend hiring a car for trips down to Cape Town's coast.

Given the glorious climate, this is an address in which alfresco living is prioritised. A swimming pool takes pride of place in the middle of the outdoor space and is sure to see plenty of dips during the summer months. Add to that a luscious garden full of old milkwood trees, a rooftop bar and a bar that sits behind a large glass wall, and it's easy to pass countless hours out in the open air.

That being said, there's plenty going on behind the stone walls, too. The interior is full of curios, from the varied collection of furniture sourced from across the globe to the antique chandelier hanging over the grand dining table. When it comes to amenities, there's a games room in the main house, plus a steam room and gym in the separate cottage.

Although you may well be thinking that there's more than enough to keep you occupied at the home, there's also plenty to see in the local area, too. Keurbooms Beach is just over five minutes away by car, as is Goose Valley Golf Club. A little further afield, there's a great range of nature and game reserves to explore.

Sitting underneath the peaks of the Table Mountain Range, this wine estate dates back to the end of the 19th century and the home's facade is indeed reflective of the Dutch Cape style prevalent at the time. Take a walk around the interior and this sense of heritage continues, thanks to period details ranging from beamed ceilings and brick fireplaces to antique furnishings and oak floors running throughout.

That being said, visitors will not have to sacrifice 21st-century conveniences during a stay here. The glass-walled garden room is a contemporary gem and looks out to gorgeous views of the surrounding rustic landscape. Elsewhere in the fragrant outside space, the swimming pool is a relatively recent addition and the fountain is also a peaceful spot beside which to relax. This being a wine estate, there's a cellar with a good supply of bottles to uncork and this area is as far from dank and dark as you could imagine. Guests also have access to a gym in case they want to work off any of the previous evening's excesses.

When it comes to seeing a little more of this picturesque corner of South Africa, the centre of Constantia takes only seven minutes to reach in the car and rewards those that make the trip with bakeries, cafes and restaurants. Hout Bay Beach is the closest seaside spot at ten minutes' drive, but there are plenty more to be discovered along the coastline. You can get to the centre of Cape Town in around twenty minutes, too.

We absolutely love the views over the ocean from this home's communal pool deck. There's a gym for your daily workout and a sky bar, restaurant, lounge, entertainment hub, barbecue area and boutique here, too. The shared facilities are excellent, we have to say. There are more city views and sea glimpses to enjoy from this apartment's private wraparound balcony. Another feature we love is that both bedrooms open onto the terrace and have en-suites. We haven't mentioned the location yet. Well, you'll be near the popular Sea Point Promenade, while the V&A Waterfront is a five to ten-minute drive away.

With breathtaking views from the communal roof terrace, we think this modern pad is a great choice for a couple or solo traveller looking for a city escape. The shared space includes an infinity pool and barbecue area for dining alfresco or sharing evening drinks. There's also a gym within the building, ideal for those planning a longer stay. And, while being a studio flat, the apartment feels spacious and comfortable thanks to some clever zoning. Location-wise, it's a short bus ride or drive from Table Mountain and the Clifton and Camps Bay beaches, so embarking on day trips out is a breeze.

For starters, the top-floor position offers some spectacular views of the local canals and the towering peak of Table Mountain. Thankfully, the architect has ensured that you can enjoy this panorama pretty much anywhere in the apartment, whether you're seated on the large wraparound terrace or lounging in the living room surrounded by walls of glass that are also generous when it comes to natural light.

We're also suitably smitten with the interior design choices made throughout and there's an air of luxury in every corner. The long kitchen's gleaming finishes will sing to those with culinary talents and just see how long you can resist taking a long and leisurely soak in one of the sunken bathtubs, as well. The cherry on the cake is the access to the complex's five swimming pools –yes, five – and gym within the building so you squeeze in a little exercise if you're in the mood.
