Tall windows let in light that bounces all around the whitewashed wooden interior. In winter, you’ll want to crank up the wood burner, and no matter what the season, there’s the ritual sauna to relax in. Outside, there’s a wooden veranda with the same lake view, and plenty of space for dining or just relaxing under white nights or starry skies. A pretty path leads you down to the jetty, where your own little boat is waiting – you can rent an outboard motor if rowing is too sedate for you. Down at the shore, there’s a sandy space for campfires, with log benches and a little shelter to get cosy by the fire. Five minutes away, your host’s farm has a caravan park with a shallow, sandy beach and smoke sauna.
