When you can wake up and be greeted with the view of grazing cattle from your window, you could be forgiven for thinking you were in the middle of the countryside. However, this converted farmhouse actually sits within the charming town of Elsloo, less than twenty minutes' drive from Maastricht. The interior certainly nods to the home's rural heritage, with exposed stonework, wooden beams and sloping ceilings, but there are a whole host of modern touches, too — our favourite has to be the hydro-massage bathtub. Outside, there's a pretty terrace with an alfresco dining area, as well as a barbecue grill for whipping up some meaty feasts. Nearby, you'll find plenty of distractions to keep your group entertained, from strolls in the forest to a dip in the baths at Thermae 2000, just over twenty minutes away by car.
