If you're coming to Paris for the first time, a stay in Le Marais is highly recommended. The neighbourhood has the je ne sais quoi that people search for when they visit the French capital — winding cobbled streets, a wide choice of art galleries and plenty of late-night bars and cafes in which to enjoy a glass of red on a street-side table. This apartment is found in the heart of the area and despite the ceaseless activity happening at ground level, the space is as calm as they come. The interior design is effortlessly chic, from the modern palette of greys and velvet cushions on the plush sofa to the minimalist kitchen finished in white. We appreciated the Juliet balcony too, which will be lovely to open up and gaze out of on summer days.

We love the refined style of this chic apartment, with its beamed ceilings, spa-like en-suites, and hotel-quality bedding. Staying in Paris should always be this appealing.

Both the apartment and location here are excellent – let’s start with the home. One of the many highlights is the Eiffel Tower view from the private terrace accessed from the main bedroom. The other bedrooms offer views over the Parisian rooftops and there’s another balcony overlooking the street. The luxurious and timeless decor and furnishings here complement the Haussmann architecture. As mentioned, the address is wonderful too – you’ll be within walking distance of the iconic Louvre Museum, the Palais Royal and the Tuileries Gardens.

The vistas from the balcony over the Eiffel Tower, River Seine and the Quai des Orfèvres are fantastic. The open-plan living room and main bedroom have a wonderful outlook too. Now about the location – the home is situated on the exclusive Île de la Cité, so there are plenty of riverside strolls to be had. The nearby iconic Notre-Dame de Paris is also a short walk away, while across the Pont Neuf, you’ll find the Louvre Museum.

From lively jazz bars and the Opéra Bastille to bohemian boutiques and Marché d'Aligre, this pocket of Paris has something for everyone. And it's where you'll find this stylish apartment, just a five-minute walk from the July Column, twenty from Notre Dame and surrounded by a slew of chic cafes, trendy wine bars and delicious eateries.

Come home after a long day and sprawl out on the sofa, nibbling on French cheese, fresh-baked bread and sharing a bottle of wine picked up from the market. We love the exposed brick in the kitchen, the skylights in the bathroom and the soft, modern furnishings. The style is minimal, the living space bright, and the bedroom super comfortable. It’s not always possible to get outdoor space in cities like Paris, but luckily this home has a balcony overlooking a communal courtyard. Just off the terrace, there’s a bright living room which also sleeps guests nine and ten on a sofa bed. Another bonus of this apartment is that all the bedrooms are en-suite. When you want to explore, the Palais Garnier is a short walk away, while the Jardin des Tuileries and the Place de la Concorde are also reachable on foot.

Sitting in a central spot to the south of the Seine, we're sure that you'll be just as smitten with this bright apartment as we are. There's a simply huge amount of natural light from the windows and doors that line the living space and this shines rather nicely off the stark white walls, wooden floor and sleek kitchen surfaces.

While it may not have the Haussmanian period charm of other homes in the French capital, the furnishings and finishes are all contemporary – even a little minimalist so in places – and there are no parts that we can identify as needing some urgent love and attention. There's plenty of room to kick back and relax after some serious sightseeing, while the smartly designed kitchen is plenty big enough should you decide you need a night off the city's famous restaurants.

Whenever you choose to leave the home, you'll be immediately greeted by the building's plant-filled courtyard, which is a pleasing pocket of green in the heart of the metropolis. Beyond that, it's easy to stroll over to some well-known attractions, including the Luxembourg Gardens and Les Invalides.

Situated on Île Saint-Louis, this apartment is a striking distance from Notre Dame, the Latin Quarter, and the Seine. It has all you need for a comfortable stay with its elegant living area, compact but sleek kitchenette, and stylish bedrooms (two of which are en-suite). Sure, it's a bit snug for all nine people, but that's a small price to pay, given the location. Both bedrooms are elegant and comfortable, while the living area makes unwinding after a busy day a breeze. There's a sofa bed for two, but we think a group of four is best if you'd like space to socialise. Location-wise, you couldn't ask for better. With Parisian landmarks like Palais Garnier and Galeries Lafayette an easy walk away and the metro moments from your door, you'll be well situated here to explore the City of Lights.

Comfortable, bright and surprisingly private, it's a real retreat away from the bustling city streets.
