The phrase 'a stone's throw' is overused to the point of cliche, but for this villa, we'll make an exception – even those not terribly skilled at ball games would be able to lob a stone from this home's garden and hit the golden sands of Gibbes Beach. It really is that close.

This proximity to the Bajan coast also brings some rather calming views of the deep azure Caribbean Sea from the terrace, which benefits from a hot tub in case you want to catch the sunset from the comfort of bubbling waters. When you can manage to prise yourself away to give your living quarters a little closer inspection, you'll find some of the sleekest interior design to be seen anywhere on the island, with a wealth of natural light, clean lines and sleek surfaces throughout the rooms. Even the path to the entrance is made rather glamorous thanks to the addition of a lily pond running underneath.

Turquoise Bay

This sunshine-yellow villa fully embraces its position by the ocean. The crystal shallows of the Caribbean lap at the shore just beyond the garden and a huge collonaded terrace, shaded from the midday heat, takes full advantage of the endless view to the horizon. Rattan chairs with plump cushions provide places to recline and dine to your heart’s content and a smattering of sun loungers are ready to soak up the sun’s rays on the lawn. Secluded at the side of the villa a plunge pool offers a place to cool off. Or, head inside to breezy rooms with coral stone floors and distinctly beachy decor – a coffee table supported by ceramic turtles, tropical fish made from sea-glass and aquamarine accents in a pristine white space. Perched on Barbados’ Platinum Coast, this villa offers easy access to the sweeps of pristine beach the area is famous for. It’s a ten-minute drive to Holetown, packed with shops, beach bars and restaurants, and the Westmorelands golf club is ten minutes inland.
