Tastefully renovated and furnished, but without losing any of the charm of the structure, the interior is a picture of old and new. It's not often we mention our admiration for scruff marks, but the knocks on the wooden fittings nod to the history of the flat, and by extension, the city, so we really love them. Plenty of modern comforts have been added to offer everything you need for an effortless stay, from rainfall showers to cafetieres, it's all there. And when you're in search of a calming spot to delve into a good book, the third and fourth bedrooms benefitting from soft floral sofas, ornamental lanterns and plenty of natural light pouring in, simply call out for your attention.

Since 1869, the Campo de' Fiori has been a hub of market trading for fresh fruit, vegetables, and flowers. And by evening, this charming square becomes a hub of alfresco dining spots and wine bars. With that in mind, this studio apartment is pretty convenient, at less than a minute away. But if you want to keep busy rather than relaxing with a glass of chianti, you’ll find palaces, museums, and statues all around – such as the Museo di Scultura Antica Giovanni Barracco, two minutes away. However, we feel that this home is somewhat of a landmark itself. As you step inside, you can help but be taken aback by the striking timber ceiling. These thick, rustic beams ooze old-world Italy, transporting you back in time. But with modern twists from minimalist furniture and quirky artworks, there’s an elegant clash of eras which makes this studio feel unique. We love the luxe touches like the marble kitchen sink and bathroom, although your host can provide an even better VIP experience. The street below is well-trodden, so there’s some noise if you leave the windows open, but the reason it’s so busy is the location, next to the Pantheon.

The location of this apartment is great. It’s just a short walk from the Castel Sant'Angelo and Piazza Cavour, home to Italy’s Supreme Court. You can also visit the Vatican, including the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica, which are also within walking distance. There’s a range of eateries in the locale, too, for when you want a rest from sightseeing. The bright open-plan living space back at this apartment also sleeps guests five and six on a comfy sofa bed. The main bedroom has an en-suite, while bedroom two has a small double bed. Your hosts are really helpful here as well – they can arrange a variety of services for you to make your stay in Rome super special.

Parchment Scrolls oozes classical Roman style. There’s a wonderful mix of antique elements, like the ceiling beams or the painted doors, and more modern fittings that give it a sense of balance. It’s also in a fantastic position, in the cobblestone lanes of Ponte, and right opposite the grand Church of San Biagio. All of these blessings manage to outweigh the only real problem, which is the second bathroom. It doesn’t have the best ventilation, and the shower is only 190cm high, but we think that it’s forgivable given the rest of the space.

It’s rare for a city home to deliver on quite so many fronts as this charming apartment in Rome’s historic Parione neighbourhood. The location, on an enchanting street between Piazza Navona and the Spanish Steps, feels brilliantly Roman, while in the home, vintage stylings meet modern comforts in elegant fashion. Muted blocks of colour give the living room an artsy edge, with wood floors, tall ceilings and atlas-inspired art adding to its sophisticated feel. We love the kitchen’s black and white tiles that contrast beautifully with its red walls and stone floors, while the blush coloured bedroom is pretty as a picture. It’s a treat to wake up here, especially when you open up the French doors that lead out onto a scenic private balcony. Sit here amongst the vines with your morning coffee while gazing out onto Rome’s rooftops, then lace up your walking shoes for a stroll around the city. Piazza Navona is just a three-minute walk away, while The Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps are reachable in ten. This apartment is truly in the heart of Rome. A five-minute walk from Piazza Navona and moments away from Campo de' Fiori, this is the place to be if sightseeing is at the top of your to-do list. You'll find plenty to see and do within walking distance, be it shops and eateries or must-visit landmarks. The apartment is on the second floor and lacks a lift, so you'll have to be comfortable climbing stairs. That said, we think it's a great find. A roomy living area provides ample space to relax, dine together, and even work from home. Just note that the second bedroom is a little snug, making it more suitable for one guest.

Part of the joy of visiting Rome is being in the thick of things – busy side-street eateries, crowds clamouring to see the sights, and dodging Vespas as you explore the city. This property is in the perfect location.

There are two apartments, making this ideal for groups of friends who want some space. The first is decorated with an eye-catching nod to Pop Art and street artists like Banksy, while the second taps into the romance of Rome with soft pastel shades and an elegant feel. 

You’re close enough to everything to explore on foot, but for those days when the heat is a little too much, you’ll be glad to be a three-minute walk from the Lepanto metro stop. You’re also in an area rife with restaurants, cafes and bars, so you don’t need to travel far for an exquisite meal or a chilled glass of wine. 

We like to start our day with a spot of people watching. Walk twelve minutes to Piazza del Popolo for a cappuccino with a view. From there, maybe you’ll tick off the Trevi Fountain – it’s fifteen minutes on the metro  – or meander the twenty-two minutes to the Spanish Steps. The Roman Forum is thirty-six minutes from the apartment – you’ll want to spend at least a couple of hours there, so pop into a trattoria for a pizza on the way. 

After a busy day in the bustling city, you’ll be glad to return to the apartment. Crack open a cold beer on the balcony in the late afternoon to soak up the atmosphere. After a brief respite, you’ll be ready to hit the town again.

They will provide basic cooking ingredients, such as oil and spices, but you'd rather eat out, then you are spoilt for choice in this pocket of Rome, with all the pizza and pasta restaurants you could dream of. The Piazza Navona is just a few steps away, while the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain are both within a ten-minute walk. And, when you're finished exploring the eternal city, a luxurious four-poster bed awaits – it doesn't get much better than this.

While some elements of this home are a little dated, everything functions well, and the place is clean and comfortable. Just a heads up, the street below can get noisy at times, so we recommend packing earplugs if you’re easily awoken.

Being in one of Rome's most exclusive areas, there are also plenty of boutiques and fine-dining restaurants to discover. The latter is handy as this home’s kitchen, whilst modern, has no oven (though there’s a hob and microwave). Another thing to note is that at full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the open-plan living room. Ever wondered what it would be like to wake up in the Vatican City? This apartment is very nearly a dream come true – it's located just across the road from Saint Peter's Dome and within strolling distance of most of Rome’s top sights. Inside, it’s bright, homey and practical, with enough space to settle in for a cosy evening after a busy day out and about. We especially like the balcony off one of the bedrooms – perfect for a morning espresso.

It's housed in an early 20th-century building with heaps of Roman character, and yet modern and cosy inside with its playful pink colour scheme, light wood flooring and tasteful artwork.  After an afternoon taking in the delights of St. Peter's Basilica, devouring all sorts of pizza and limoncello-based drinks, return to the light and airy living space with a chic pink dining table at its core – perfect for coming together for a well-needed cuppa and a slice of a cake. Sitting down to relive the best parts of the day, you'll notice the low-hanging lighting, antique mirrors and retro drinks trolley in the corner. This home cuts no corners when it comes to the little touches. Wandering into the bedrooms you'll find original patterns and vibrant wallpaper prints that remind us of a bygone era. Those lucky enough to be residing in the master bedroom will have the luxury of a private dining table for those romantic morning coffees in bed. There is a private terrace and plenty of socialising space both inside and out. At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room, but this is a great option for kids.
