We love this studio apartment's location – it's steps away from Amager Strand. So, if you like to swim in the sea, kite surf or go for long walks on the beach, this is the place for you. The National Aquarium of Denmark is also just minutes away. The proximity to the airport and a metro station that takes you into the city centre in six minutes makes it ideal for tourists and business travellers alike. Back at this home's development, there's a shared gym, or relax on the king-sized bed in the apartment (there's no sofa or living room here). Yes, the kitchen is quite compact, but it does have an oven and hob, so you can still cook some Danish delicacies.

That said, given the apartment has a basic kitchenette, this will prove handy. An ideal base for four people, just be prepared for two guests to sleep on the sofa bed.

At full capacity, two people will be on a sofa bed in the living area adjacent to one of the bedrooms, which, although it has a frosted glass partition, is not very private.

With its yellow and blue theme, Bumblebee & Sapphire definitely has a lively side. Yes, it’s small, but the space is used in a nice way that makes it seem a lot bigger than it actually is. The Vissevasse posters and decorative HAY pillows add a playful touch to the home, which we really enjoy. Amagerbro is calm and it's a short metro ride from Amager Strandpark and Amager Fælled, some of Copenhagen's most beloved nature spots.

This large studio-style apartment has a great address in Dronningegården, right behind Kongens Have (The King's Garden). You’ll also find nearby the city’s largest square Kongens Nytorv, home to the Royal Theatre. Housed in a 1950s building, this apartment has a small bedroom area with a king-size bed tucked away behind a half wall. Two more guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living area at full capacity. We should also mention there’s free access to the local gym if you want to keep up your fitness regime while away. This place is ideal for friends or family looking for an excellent location.

Locations really don’t get much better than this. It's rare to find a property this close by to the picture-perfect Nyhavn district, with its brightly coloured gabled townhouses. Find a sunny spot outside at a quayside café or hop on a boat for one of the many canal tours that start here. As the evening draws in, take a pre-dinner stroll along the waterfront, then duck into one of the many restaurants and bars that line the canal.  You could call in on the Queen too, she lives just around the corner. And when it’s finally time to retreat inside, you’ll find a contemporary place that invites you to be social. The communal area is the heart of the home, offering plenty of space for your tribe to hang out, cook, and eat. The industrial-style windows flood natural light through the apartment by day, while the plush velvet curtains allow privacy at night when it’s time for some shut-eye.

We particularly love all the original features including the wooden beams, exposed brick walls (and even the creaky floors), which mix beautifully with the hosts’ collection of books and vintage furniture. Since the apartment was renovated in 2013, it has been featured in several lifestyle magazines for its charming design aesthetic. Spread across three floors, unique quirks include the rather rustic ladders that take you up to the second and third floors. Curl up in a cosy corner with a book in hand and live the scene of what seems like it could be a fictional dream. Alongside world literature, the host also supplies guests with access to gym equipment, should you wish to keep up with your fitness routine while visiting Copenhagen. Around the apartment, the immediate area feels very local – the Christianshavn canals are just two minutes away, and so are plenty of restaurants. All in all, it's safe to say that this home is perfectly out of the ordinary.

There's little space for socialising, with no living room to speak of. But even better than the location is the private roof terrace back home. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a Danish beer and admire the city views. Indoors, the pared-back interiors feature natural elements and lots of light. The kitchen isn't the biggest and there is some adult-themed artwork, but otherwise, it's a cosy option in the heart of the city.

With the Queen Margrethe as your next-door neighbour, it’s no wonder that the two-bedroom home has a grandiose and illustrious feel. Just a five-minute walk from this apartment will take you to the City Hall Square and the central station. It's the same walking distance to Tivoli Gardens, a magical theme park with a century-old wooden roller coaster, gardens and restaurants. As with the rides at Tivoli, this apartment has some ups and downs – let's start with the good points. There's a shared garden perfect for beers in the summer, and the apartment itself is spacious. To enter the second bedroom, though, you will need to go through the third bedroom. This room doesn't have any windows but borrows light via French doors into the adjacent room, so privacy is also an issue – it’s probably fine for the kids, we would say.

If you're looking for amusement on your city break, how about this home? It's just around the corner from Tivoli Gardens, a theme park with a century-old wooden roller coaster. If you're not after an adrenaline rush, gardens and fantastic restaurants are also nearby. Like the park rides, this apartment has many highs and a few lows. The lift takes you right to the top floor, and we love the characteristic beams. At full capacity, though, there's only one bathroom between eight people – you’d better work out a rota for the mornings.

This city-centre apartment is seriously chic – we absolutely loved its minimalist Scandi vibes. The communal area is open and bright, offering plenty of space for all six guests to hang out together. There are thoughtful touches like vintage illustrated posters hanging on the wall above comfortable furniture from New Scandinavian Design maestros, Bolia. The glass-walled bedrooms are definitely a novel touch and create a strong impact. They certainly won't be to everyone's taste, but all have velvet curtains to pull across for some privacy when needed. With views onto Copenhagen's main shopping street, Strøget, you couldn't be better placed to hit the luxury boutiques and independent shops when the mood takes you. Plus, you're not far from the colourful waterside bars and restaurants of Nyhavn or the high culture of the Royal Danish Theatre – a little over a five-minute walk away.

After preparing meals in the snazzy kitchen, you have a choice of places to dine – at the breakfast bar, the eight-person dining table, or outside in the sun (that's our pick, weather permitting). 

When it's time to explore the city, you won't have to travel far to take in Copenhagen's best sites. The cobbled Kongens Nytorv square is barely a five-minute walk away, and from here Nyhavn's colourful waterfront is another short hop. Enjoy lunch with a waterfront view, then meander through the characterful streets towards Christianshavn, a unique network of small islands. This is the place to be if you're a fan of street art and intimate music venues.

View From the Afternoon

Split across two levels with a wooden ladder connecting the two, this two-bedroom home is ideal for younger travellers looking to be right in the centre of Copenhagen. Even though it lacks in entertainment options, you’ll not have to worry about finding things to do because The Conrad is situated in a repurposed office building on top of Strøget, Copenhagen’s busiest shopping street.

Tivoli Gardens is less than a ten-minute walk away, while nearby Ørstedsparken is a great spot for escaping the city buzz. Just keep in mind that the second bedroom is partly open to the living area, so it lacks some privacy. But then again, with plenty of bars and concert venues nearby, we’re sure you'll spend your evenings out experiencing the Copenhagen culture.

Located on Strøget, you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to local restaurants, cafes and shops. It also provides easy access to iconic sights and there are great public transport links. It’s worth noting, you may hear some street noise during your stay but this is to be expected in this central location. Plus, you’ll find all the essentials you could need to settle in and unwind. There are also flexible sleeping arrangements with two sofa beds – making this a sweet option for families.

There’s no place like home… Until you’ve stayed in Master of Light that is. Casual luxury at its finest, it’s Copenhagen at its best. The location is extraordinary – you’re right besides Nyhavn, the city’s most famous postcard motif. And we can’t get over the design. Alexander clearly has a passion for Danish design, with works by Bang & Olufsen and Hans J. Wegner adorning every corner. There’s also a fantastic rooftop terrace with a nine-person hot tub, sun beds and a lounge arrangement, plus fantastic views of Copenhagen's historic buildings.



Master of Light

Nestled in the heart of Copenhagen, this apartment is ideal for a couple’s retreat. A mere five-minute walk will take you to Tivoli, and you'll also find the inner city lakes on your doorstep when you fancy a fresh-air stroll. While it can sleep up to four people, two guests will draw the short straw and be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living area. With the bedroom separated from the main living space with a glass partition, it lacks some privacy, so we think it’s a home best suited to families. There’s no oven here, but with the apartment’s enviable location you’ll find eateries on your doorstep, so dining out is a breeze.

The quirky top-floor apartment includes a collection of books and board games instead of a TV – encouraging you to enjoy a cosy evening reminiscent of the good ol’ days. Sitting right along the banks of Bryggen Syd, this apartment provides a sleek space for families and groups visiting Copenhagen. Now, we think the best way to explore the city is on foot or by bike, though there’s free street parking nearby too. From here, you can swim off Bådelaug Havnestad, enjoy drinks in Christianshavn or soak up some culture in Indre By. The interiors are modern with plenty of light thanks to the glass sliding doors, and we love how the sofa converts to a bed should you be visiting as a larger group. Just keep in mind that this is in the living area, so it lacks some privacy.

This penthouse apartment is located right on Strøget, the main pedestrian street in Copenhagen, making it ideal for visitors who want to explore the city on foot. Climb up to the top of the building and once you arrive, and you'll find a wonderfully light and welcoming space that's full of Scandi-style and designer furniture. The lovely kitchen and living space are great for socialising over some smørrebrødands and a glass of wine, and the gorgeous wooden floors and high windows add an extra level of charm. However, our favourite part of this home is the romantic little nook in the bay window where you can look out over the city's spires and rooftops. Back on ground level, you can stroll to Tivoli Gardens, the famous 19th Century amusement park, in less than ten minutes, while the iconic Nyhavn waterfront is a fifteen-minute walk away. 

The Olive Tree Loft

As Copenhagen boltholes go, this is as central as it gets. Strøget, the mile-long pedestrianised shopping street, is right on your doorstep. All the must-see sights are within strolling distance. And should you need to be somewhere fast, Gammel Strand Metro is just a four-minute walk away. While there's plenty of space to spill out in that light-filled living room with table tennis set-up, it's worth noting the last two bedrooms are pocket-sized, with limited floor space. Also, there's only one bathroom – so be prepared for some waiting around in the mornings. But for a home this central, we can let that slide.

Euphoria is a hidden gem. It’s got an abundance of personality, bright colours, a rock’n’roll-worthy collection of guitars, and Danish Modern furniture that’s to die for. We also love the charm of the historic building with wooden beams, sloped ceilings, and crooked, creaky floors. Set against the backdrop of picturesque Christianshavn Canal, you’re in a cosy neighbourhood, beloved by locals. Especially perfect for artsy bohemian souls, a stay at Euphoria is an experience that’s waiting to happen.

A whirlwind of green hues, this snug home brings an instant smile to our faces. It's warm and comfortable, with a large dining table perfect for sharing family meals and a cosy sitting area where you can kick back and relax with a glass of wine and Netflix. A small collection of books and board games only add to the homey feel, as do the large windows which flood the lounge with natural light. One of the bedrooms is rather tiny and the bathroom isn't the biggest we've seen, but the brilliant location more than makes up for it. We love this area's historic charm and quiet streets, yet buzzing restaurants, cafes and shops are all a short stroll away. You're also within walking distance to many of Copenhagen's most beloved sights – Amalienborg Palace, Nyhavn, The Little Mermaid, Frederik's Church, you name it, chances are you can get to it easily. Best of all? The Danish queen lives just down the road, so if it's good enough for royalty, it's good enough for us.

Sage Advice

Ideally located and only two minutes from Amalienborg Palace, this stylish and immaculate home with plenty of space. With four bedrooms, two living spaces and an open-plan kitchen/dining area, large groups will be very comfortable here. The glass-walled bedrooms might leave you feeling a little exposed, but they are a cool design feature that adds a unique feel.
