We think this home's location has the best of both worlds. It's just steps away from Amager Strand, perfect for a swim in the sea or long walks on the beach. Yet, the city centre can be reached in six minutes via Copenhagen's speedy metro system. Back at this home, there's a gym to keep up your fitness regime, or relax on the king-sized bed. While the bedroom is separate, this apartment is more like a studio as there's no sofa or living room here. The kitchen area is also quite compact, but it has an oven and hob. This place is the ideal base for a couple or solo traveller or those on business.

You’ll also find the Øresund metro station is five minutes away, allowing easy access to the city centre or airport in three stops. Of course, with such convenience, there’s the potential for some street noise – particularly given there’s a popular cafe on your doorstep. That said, given the apartment has a basic kitchenette, this will prove handy. An ideal base for four people, just be prepared for two guests to sleep on the sofa bed.

We love this studio apartment's location – it's steps away from Amager Strand. So, if you like to swim in the sea, kite surf or go for long walks on the beach, this is the place for you. The National Aquarium of Denmark is also just minutes away. The proximity to the airport and a metro station that takes you into the city centre in six minutes makes it ideal for tourists and business travellers alike. Back at this home's development, there's a shared gym, or relax on the king-sized bed in the apartment (there's no sofa or living room here). Yes, the kitchen is quite compact, but it does have an oven and hob, so you can still cook some Danish delicacies.

With its yellow and blue theme, Bumblebee & Sapphire definitely has a lively side. Yes, it’s small, but the space is used in a nice way that makes it seem a lot bigger than it actually is. The Vissevasse posters and decorative HAY pillows add a playful touch to the home, which we really enjoy. Amagerbro is calm and it's a short metro ride from Amager Strandpark and Amager Fælled, some of Copenhagen's most beloved nature spots.

If you’re searching for classic Scandinavian design in a fantastic location, this apartment delivers. Located on the third floor of a historic building without a lift, there is plenty of space for a group of nine to relax after a day of exploring. Our favourite spot is the private balcony with its views of Christiansborg’s spire. Sit here with your morning coffee while soaking up the fresh air or gather at the elegant dining table with the French doors open to enjoy the warmth and cosiness of your home. With plenty of curios decking the shelves, original artwork, a record player to serenade your evenings and a beautiful antique bureau on which to catch up on work, you’re all set for a relaxing time here, whether for business or pleasure. Factor in the luxurious Hästens bed for a dreamy night’s sleep and you may never leave your comfortable home. There’s no place like home… Until you’ve stayed in Master of Light that is. Casual luxury at its finest, it’s Copenhagen at its best. The location is extraordinary – you’re right besides Nyhavn, the city’s most famous postcard motif. And we can’t get over the design. Alexander clearly has a passion for Danish design, with works by Bang & Olufsen and Hans J. Wegner adorning every corner. There’s also a fantastic rooftop terrace with a nine-person hot tub, sun beds and a lounge arrangement, plus fantastic views of Copenhagen's historic buildings.

Parallelogram is sophisticated in that Scandi chic way that we just love. It elegantly blends wooden furniture, green plants and photos taken by the host himself to form a modern minimalist home with plenty of charm. You are a five-minute walk from Nyhavn and all of its cultural attractions. If you feel like experiencing the city in a different way, you can also sit down on the sunny balcony with a cup of coffee and watch Copenhageners go about their day.

Situated just one street from The Lakes, this penthouse apartment is perfectly positioned for waterfront strolls, coffees and drinks. This modern Scandi-style apartment is ideal for groups wanting to maximise their time both out and in, with a central location and a contemporary sociable space. If you’re visiting as a group of eight, two guests will sleep on the living area sofa bed, so you might need to call it early some nights. But then again, with plenty of bars and concert venues nearby, we’re sure you'll spend your evenings out experiencing the Copenhagen culture.

Set in a handsome building from 1791, you’ll be minutes from so many of Copenhagen’s best attractions. Both Amalienborg Castle and the Little Mermaid statue are a seven-minute walk away, while the picture-perfect harbour of Nyhavn is just fourteen minutes from home. Catch a glimpse of the stunning Opera house before heading to the neighbourhood’s Copenhagen Bicycles, where you can rent bikes and get around like locals. When you’re back at home you’ll enjoy a luminous and inviting living space with high ceilings and large windows. The furniture is stylish and sleek – Scandi of course – while you’ll have all the essentials you need for a comfortable stay. Enjoy a morning coffee on the sofa looking out at the busy street, or gather around the dining table for breakfast. When it’s time for bed, the bedrooms are soothing with their grey colour palettes, soft linens and plush pillows that ensure a good night of rest.

This city-centre apartment is seriously chic – we absolutely loved its minimalist Scandi vibes. The communal area is open and bright, offering plenty of space for all six guests to hang out together. There are thoughtful touches like vintage illustrated posters hanging on the wall above comfortable furniture from New Scandinavian Design maestros, Bolia. The glass-walled bedrooms are definitely a novel touch and create a strong impact. They certainly won't be to everyone's taste, but all have velvet curtains to pull across for some privacy when needed. With views onto Copenhagen's main shopping street, Strøget, you couldn't be better placed to hit the luxury boutiques and independent shops when the mood takes you. Plus, you're not far from the colourful waterside bars and restaurants of Nyhavn or the high culture of the Royal Danish Theatre – a little over a five-minute walk away.

With the Queen Margrethe as your next-door neighbour, it’s no wonder that the two-bedroom home has a grandiose and illustrious feel. Adorned with beautiful wooden beams and gorgeous windows reminiscent of its warehouse past, Out of the Woods is a very special home. For what it lacks in luxuriousness, it makes up for with its charming location – Christianshavn is a unique part of Copenhagen with local restaurants, bars and endless canals. To some, it might be a disadvantage that the bedrooms don’t have any curtains, but who could say no to enjoying the breathtaking views of the rows of colourful houses and picture-perfect Church of our Saviour at any time of the day?

Filled with personal artwork and trinkets, Science Fiction is extremely characterful. It’s the kind of home where you feel like you get to know the host, even though he’s not around. It also has high ceilings, beautiful stucco detailing, and a hammock for lazy days. The immediate area is full of things to do. Østerbro is incredibly family-friendly, especially if you’re looking for lovely green parks, artisanal bakeries, and charming restaurants. 

Science Fiction

The Magic Flute is rich in history. Located just off lively Nyhavn, the building dates all the way back to 1658 (there’s a plaque at the entrance detailing all the owners throughout the years). With crooked, creaky floors, it’s oozing old charm – and paired with Matilde’s artwork, instruments, and personality, it becomes one of a kind. She’s an opera singer and works just down the road in the Royal Opera House, which only makes this home even more special.

The Magic Flute

Centrally located and chicly styled, this apartment ticks all of our boxes. You'll be based in lively Indre By, just a short walk from Nyhavn's colourful harbour and Strøget's many shops. But even better than the location is the private roof terrace back home. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a Danish beer and admire the city views. Indoors, the pared-back interiors feature natural elements and lots of light. The kitchen isn't the biggest and there is some adult-themed artwork, but otherwise, it's a cosy option in the heart of the city.

A Viking Hideaway

Split across two levels with a wooden ladder connecting the two, this two-bedroom home is ideal for younger travellers looking to be right in the centre of Copenhagen. Even though it lacks in entertainment options, you’ll not have to worry about finding things to do because The Conrad is situated in a repurposed office building on top of Strøget, Copenhagen’s busiest shopping street.

If you're looking for amusement on your city break, how about this home? It's just around the corner from Tivoli Gardens, a theme park with a century-old wooden roller coaster. If you're not after an adrenaline rush, gardens and fantastic restaurants are also nearby. Like the park rides, this apartment has many highs and a few lows. The lift takes you right to the top floor, and we love the characteristic beams. At full capacity, though, there's only one bathroom between eight people – you’d better work out a rota for the mornings.

Heritage Haven

Do Copenhagen right and stay at this swoon-worthy Scandi apartment in the city centre. With light-filled rooms, an unbeatable location and the rare luxury of a private terrace, it doesn't get better than this modern home. 

The open-plan living area is the ideal hangout spot for your holiday downtown. Finished with bright furnishings and a touch of boho charm, the spacious room is lit up with not one, not two, but six windows. After preparing meals in the snazzy kitchen, you have a choice of places to dine – at the breakfast bar, the eight-person dining table, or outside in the sun (that's our pick, weather permitting). 

When it's time to explore the city, you won't have to travel far to take in Copenhagen's best sites. The cobbled Kongens Nytorv square is barely a five-minute walk away, and from here Nyhavn's colourful waterfront is another short hop. Enjoy lunch with a waterfront view, then meander through the characterful streets towards Christianshavn, a unique network of small islands. This is the place to be if you're a fan of street art and intimate music venues.

Begin your mornings wandering along the canal, coffee in hand as you bask in the picturesque scenery. Grab a pastry then stroll towards Christianhavn, one of the upbeat and flourishing hubs of the capital city. Here you'll find hip bars and eating spots to mingle with the locals. Stroget, Copenhagen's busy retail district, is the place to be if you want to immerse yourself in the city's shopping culture. Chic boutiques selling ultra-stylish clothing coexist with iconic stores – it caters to every fashion sense. For higher-end couture, Magasin Du Nord showcases the on-trend items.

However you spend your day in the Danish capital, the snug tranquillity of the home acts as a restful haven after a day of walking the cobbled streets. And since it comes with noise-cancelling windows, you won’t have to worry too much about the lively street below you. Cosy up with a spot of Netflix while sipping hot chocolate to bring your evening to a close, or perhaps treat yourself to a glass of wine while admiring the canal view from your balcony.

The popular Strøget shopping district is on your doorstep, with restaurants, bars and boutiques within easy reach. And for sightseeing ventures across town, the Rådhuspladsen Metro stop is a five-minute walk away. Back home, the design is contemporary rather than charming, while the quiet courtyard is a nice bonus. The sofa bed adds flexibility for larger groups and the dining table doubles up as a handy workspace, but do keep in mind that some street noise should be expected here.

This simple, fuss-free apartment was designed by renowned local architect Kay Fisker in 1958. It’s functional and attractive, with modern amenities and 50s flourishes sitting side-by-side. The apartment is equipped with everything you might need for a comfortable stay in Copenhagen and even comes with free access to a local gym. In terms of location, you couldn’t ask for more – this home is just a stone’s throw from Kongens Have. Exploring the rest of the city is a breeze thanks to excellent transport links – Kongens Nytorv metro station is only an eight-minute walk away.

A bohemian atmosphere meets Japanese zen in this striking home. We particularly love all the original features including the wooden beams, exposed brick walls (and even the creaky floors), which mix beautifully with the hosts’ collection of books and vintage furniture. Since the apartment was renovated in 2013, it has been featured in several lifestyle magazines for its charming design aesthetic. Spread across three floors, unique quirks include the rather rustic ladders that take you up to the second and third floors. Curl up in a cosy corner with a book in hand and live the scene of what seems like it could be a fictional dream. Alongside world literature, the host also supplies guests with access to gym equipment, should you wish to keep up with your fitness routine while visiting Copenhagen. Around the apartment, the immediate area feels very local – the Christianshavn canals are just two minutes away, and so are plenty of restaurants. All in all, it's safe to say that this home is perfectly out of the ordinary.

Arigatou

Size and style come in equal measure at this Copenhagen apartment. It's perched along the famous shopping mile, and most of the must-see sights are just a stroll away. A great option for a multi-generational family stay, each bedroom is as light-filled as the next, and the living spaces are palatial by inner-city standards. It's worth noting there's only one bathroom here, and four guests will be sharing the last bedroom – fine for family sharing, but it won't suit everyone. Expect street noise from time to time, too – but that's all part and parcel of central Copenhagen living.

Hygge Tales

Locations really don’t get much better than this. It's rare to find a property this close by to the picture-perfect Nyhavn district, with its brightly coloured gabled townhouses. Find a sunny spot outside at a quayside café or hop on a boat for one of the many canal tours that start here. As the evening draws in, take a pre-dinner stroll along the waterfront, then duck into one of the many restaurants and bars that line the canal.  You could call in on the Queen too, she lives just around the corner. And when it’s finally time to retreat inside, you’ll find a contemporary place that invites you to be social. The communal area is the heart of the home, offering plenty of space for your tribe to hang out, cook, and eat. The industrial-style windows flood natural light through the apartment by day, while the plush velvet curtains allow privacy at night when it’s time for some shut-eye.

This colourful home in the Danish capital is a great place to share with your loved ones. The quirky top-floor apartment includes a collection of books and board games instead of a TV – encouraging you to enjoy a cosy evening reminiscent of the good ol’ days. Situated in a residential neighbourhood, the apartment offers some peace and quiet, while a ten-minute metro ride takes you right into the bustling city centre. Here you’ll find a large variety of places worth visiting such as Rosenborg Castle, Tivoli Gardens or the picturesque Nyhavn, as well as plenty of bars and eateries. 

Under The Sky

You're right in the thick of things at this smart downtown apartment, perched along Copenhagen's shopping mecca of Strøget. The metro is just 100 metres from your door, though we doubt you'll need it with buzzy Nyhavn Harbour and countless happening restaurants and cosy cafes within walking distance. It's worth noting if four of you share, the last two guests will have to make do with the sofa bed in the living space. You'll also need to prepare for some street noise from time to time. But we'll take that for a home with such an unbeatable location.

Strøget Delight

As Copenhagen boltholes go, this is as central as it gets. Strøget, the mile-long pedestrianised shopping street, is right on your doorstep. All the must-see sights are within strolling distance. And should you need to be somewhere fast, Gammel Strand Metro is just a four-minute walk away. While there's plenty of space to spill out in that light-filled living room with table tennis set-up, it's worth noting the last two bedrooms are pocket-sized, with limited floor space. Also, there's only one bathroom – so be prepared for some waiting around in the mornings. But for a home this central, we can let that slide.

A Viking Treasure

As expected for an 18th-century Copenhagen home, the layout of this large and oh-so-stylish studio is a little kooky. One bedroom with a handy desk nook is tucked into the eaves on a mezzanine, so it's not the most private of spaces. The living area, which houses a sofa bed for two guests, forms part of the main bedroom. And while the balcony is a bonus, it's pocket-sized. But you can't quibble with the location. Set slap bang in the middle of Indre By, you're within walking distance of all the city's must-sees. Get off to a flying start at the shopping mecca of Strøget – it's right outside your door.

Nordic Dream

A flat roomy enough for ten people right in the city centre is pretty much unheard of, so imagine our surprise when we found this gem. With five stylish bedrooms and an amply-sized living area meant for socialising, there's enough space here for a big group to spread out and get comfortable. The kitchen isn't massive – we'd only recommend it for cooking breakfast and other light meals – but we liked the vanity area outside the bathrooms, where you can prep hair and makeup without hogging the loo. There are other touches, too – USB plugs by all the beds, an Apple TV in the living space for at-home movie nights and no single-use plastic. This building has the highest eco-certification (A15) and it's run on renewable energy, so it's as good for the environment as it is stylish. Best of all is the location – Strøget is just around the corner, with restaurants, shops, cafes and bars all right on your doorstep. You're only two minutes away from Kongens Have and Rosenborg Castle as well, perfect for strolls in the sun.

This penthouse apartment is located right on Strøget, the main pedestrian street in Copenhagen, making it ideal for visitors who want to explore the city on foot. Climb up to the top of the building and once you arrive, and you'll find a wonderfully light and welcoming space that's full of Scandi-style and designer furniture. The lovely kitchen and living space are great for socialising over some smørrebrødands and a glass of wine, and the gorgeous wooden floors and high windows add an extra level of charm. However, our favourite part of this home is the romantic little nook in the bay window where you can look out over the city's spires and rooftops. Back on ground level, you can stroll to Tivoli Gardens, the famous 19th Century amusement park, in less than ten minutes, while the iconic Nyhavn waterfront is a fifteen-minute walk away. 

The Olive Tree Loft

This stunning apartment is a real one-of-a-kind in the Danish capital. Not only is it in a wonderful location (the Little Mermaid and Amalienborg Palace are only ten minutes away), but it merges historic features with contemporary Danish design in the most elegant way possible. It's a rarity to find homes this large in Copenhagen – especially complete with modern bathrooms – so we were thrilled when this one came across our desk.
