Locations really don’t get much better than this. It's rare to find a property this close by to the picture-perfect Nyhavn district, with its brightly coloured gabled townhouses. Find a sunny spot outside at a quayside café or hop on a boat for one of the many canal tours that start here. As the evening draws in, take a pre-dinner stroll along the waterfront, then duck into one of the many restaurants and bars that line the canal.  You could call in on the Queen too, she lives just around the corner. And when it’s finally time to retreat inside, you’ll find a contemporary place that invites you to be social. The communal area is the heart of the home, offering plenty of space for your tribe to hang out, cook, and eat. The industrial-style windows flood natural light through the apartment by day, while the plush velvet curtains allow privacy at night when it’s time for some shut-eye.

We love the homey comforts on offer here, from the sheepskin throws to the inviting Scandi and vintage furnishings and the large windows proferring fourth-floor views over the city’s rooftops. Our favourite spot is the private balcony with its views of Christiansborg’s spire. Sit here with your morning coffee while soaking up the fresh air or gather at the elegant dining table with the French doors open to enjoy the warmth and cosiness of your home. With plenty of curios decking the shelves, original artwork, a record player to serenade your evenings and a beautiful antique bureau on which to catch up on work, you’re all set for a relaxing time here, whether for business or pleasure. Factor in the luxurious Hästens bed for a dreamy night’s sleep and you may never leave your comfortable home. This Copenhagen bolthole may be pocket-sized, but it would work well for two friends or colleagues looking for a central base to lay their heads. There's little space for socialising, with no living room to speak of. But each bedroom has a cushy chair and the dining banquette in the compact kitchen is a cosy spot for breakfast, and the bakery nearby will keep the pastries flowing. There’s no place like home… Until you’ve stayed in Master of Light that is. Casual luxury at its finest, it’s Copenhagen at its best. The location is extraordinary – you’re right besides Nyhavn, the city’s most famous postcard motif. And we can’t get over the design. Alexander clearly has a passion for Danish design, with works by Bang & Olufsen and Hans J. Wegner adorning every corner. There’s also a fantastic rooftop terrace with a nine-person hot tub, sun beds and a lounge arrangement, plus fantastic views of Copenhagen's historic buildings.



Master of Light

A whirlwind of green hues, this snug home brings an instant smile to our faces. It's warm and comfortable, with a large dining table perfect for sharing family meals and a cosy sitting area where you can kick back and relax with a glass of wine and Netflix. A small collection of books and board games only add to the homey feel, as do the large windows which flood the lounge with natural light. One of the bedrooms is rather tiny and the bathroom isn't the biggest we've seen, but the brilliant location more than makes up for it. We love this area's historic charm and quiet streets, yet buzzing restaurants, cafes and shops are all a short stroll away. You're also within walking distance to many of Copenhagen's most beloved sights – Amalienborg Palace, Nyhavn, The Little Mermaid, Frederik's Church, you name it, chances are you can get to it easily. Best of all? The Danish queen lives just down the road, so if it's good enough for royalty, it's good enough for us.

Sage Advice

Modern, minimalist and powered by renewable energy, this apartment guarantees a stress-free stay in Denmark’s capital city. The heart of Indre By is easily accessible by foot, and the Marmorkirken metro station is a ten-minute walk away. As there is not enough comfortable seating for a group of five, we recommend this place for groups who are always on the go. The kitchen, however, is fully equipped with everything you need for home cooking, and your host can arrange cleaning services for an additional fee.

Set in a handsome building from 1791, you’ll be minutes from so many of Copenhagen’s best attractions. Both Amalienborg Castle and the Little Mermaid statue are a seven-minute walk away, while the picture-perfect harbour of Nyhavn is just fourteen minutes from home. Catch a glimpse of the stunning Opera house before heading to the neighbourhood’s Copenhagen Bicycles, where you can rent bikes and get around like locals. When you’re back at home you’ll enjoy a luminous and inviting living space with high ceilings and large windows. The furniture is stylish and sleek – Scandi of course – while you’ll have all the essentials you need for a comfortable stay. Ideally located and only two minutes from Amalienborg Palace, this stylish and immaculate home with plenty of space. With four bedrooms, two living spaces and an open-plan kitchen/dining area, large groups will be very comfortable here. The glass-walled bedrooms might leave you feeling a little exposed, but they are a cool design feature that adds a unique feel. As well as being close to the Queen's winter residence, you're also only a five-minute walk from the iconic canalside district of Nyhavn. It's the perfect place to while away a long summer's evening. Either with a cold one on the quayside like the locals or at one of the many restaurants overlooking the old tall ships.

The word “wow” came up a few times when we visited this place… A former coal crane located in Nordhavnen (the old industrial harbour area), it’s an incredibly special place that offers an out-of-this-world experience. Set up for pampered living in exceptional surroundings, it consists of three levels of unique luxury. One with your living quarters – the bed is heavenly. Another with a huge meeting room and bathroom – the bathtubs have some of the best views we’ve ever come across. And two terraces – one for enjoying magnificent sunsets, the other tailor-made for sunrises.

This stunning apartment is a real one-of-a-kind in the Danish capital. Not only is it in a wonderful location (the Little Mermaid and Amalienborg Palace are only ten minutes away), but it merges historic features with contemporary Danish design in the most elegant way possible. It's a rarity to find homes this large in Copenhagen – especially complete with modern bathrooms – so we were thrilled when this one came across our desk. The bedrooms are among the most stylish we're seen, with forest green feature walls, eye-catching artwork and headboards held by leather straps. While the Crittal-style glass partition walls of the second and third bedrooms are certainly a conversation starter. On long summer days, a couple of French doors open out onto Juliette balconies so you can let the fresh air and that city buzz inside. As a bonus, this three-bedroom home is located along the Crown Prince's preferred cycling route, so you might catch a glimpse of him as he whizzes past on his bike. So if you're set on exploring Copenhagen on foot, by bike, or on the water, this is the ideal choice for you.

The Design Show

Set in Copenhagen's design district, with happening art galleries and wander-worthy antique shops all within walking distance, it's no wonder this apartment's central location is a huge highlight. While the listed apartment building's exteriors are charming, the home's minimalist interiors aren't overly characterful and a little unconventional in places. Expect high ceilings in the living area, compact bedrooms with quirky internal windows, and a pocket-sized kitchen better suited to breakfasts and lighter bites. But with a bakery next door and restaurants aplenty close by, we don't think you'll mind.

Parallelogram is sophisticated in that Scandi chic way that we just love. It elegantly blends wooden furniture, green plants and photos taken by the host himself to form a modern minimalist home with plenty of charm. You are a five-minute walk from Nyhavn and all of its cultural attractions. If you feel like experiencing the city in a different way, you can also sit down on the sunny balcony with a cup of coffee and watch Copenhageners go about their day.

The Close-Up is on the small side, but it’s got lots of cool decorative elements, striking colour combinations, and sleek white floors. Located in a quiet backyard to a street packed with beautiful classicist and Rococo architecture, this studio home’s revamped interiors feel like a modern hideaway in a historic part of Copenhagen. The kitchen is basic and not suitable for cooking elaborate meals, but who says you even have to cook when you’re close to gems like Bistro Royal, Geist and Havfruen. 

The Close-up

The Magic Flute is rich in history. Located just off lively Nyhavn, the building dates all the way back to 1658 (there’s a plaque at the entrance detailing all the owners throughout the years). With crooked, creaky floors, it’s oozing old charm – and paired with Matilde’s artwork, instruments, and personality, it becomes one of a kind. She’s an opera singer and works just down the road in the Royal Opera House, which only makes this home even more special.

The Magic Flute

This truly unique home is set over three floors with high ceilings, exposed beams and classically Danish design elements throughout. First built in 1755, it's been transformed into an incredible space that perfectly suits modern living. Brilliantly located in an area buzzing with activity, the building helps to block any noise from the outside world – providing you with the best of both worlds. You enter the home through a little courtyard to find the first couple of floors taken up by well-appointed bedrooms with soothing neutral colour palettes that help you drift off at the end of the day. However, it's the open-plan top floor that is the undoubted star of the show. It's an ideal space for socialising as you hang out by the kitchen counter and relax in the chillout area before sitting down for dinner at the large, ten-seater dining table. And if you'd like to treat yourself to a meal out, you've got too many options to mention within a short walk. Plus, with Amalienborg Palace and Nyhavn just around the corner, you won't have to go far to experience the best of Copenhagen. 

Timber House

If you end up staying in Cloud Underground, you’ll be getting some very fancy neighbours. Amalienborg Palace (the Danish queen’s home) is just down the road – and it’s actually also located along the Crown Prince’s preferred biking route, so don’t be scared if he whizzes past you. With its Scandinavian-meets-industrial vibe, it’s the kind of place you look forward to coming home to at the end of a long day of sightseeing. Oh, and did we forget to mention that it’s within walking distance to everyone’s favourite statue, The Little Mermaid?

While the immediate area isn’t typical of Copenhagen (it’s very modern), you’re only a fifteen-minute walk from The Little Mermaid. The waterfront is also just around the corner. High-ceilinged and minimalist with warm undertones, it’s great for families. Although it could do with some wall art here and there, we love that this place makes you feel at home instantly.

Situated a five-minute cycle ride from downtown, this trendy apartment is close to the heart of the action yet set apart enough from the touristic throngs. Inside, it’s full of charming details and harmonising colours—the jewel-blue sofa, neon orange cushions and yellow Pop Art banana make for a visually pleasing combination. The dinky kitchen is set up for quick meals at home, but when you’re in the food capital of Scandinavia, eating out is impossible to resist. Copenhagen is one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world so getting about is a piece of cake. Rent your own set of wheels and take the six-minute journey to the Danish masterpieces in the Hirschsprung Collection or pedal ten minutes over the river to the picturesque Christianshavn neighbourhood. Oh, and your home is located right on the Crown Prince’s preferred biking route, so don’t be surprised when he whizzes past you on his bicycle!

Velvet Underground

This duplex apartment is located in Nyhavn and overlooks both a quiet courtyard on one side and a great cityscape view on the other, which includes the Royal Theatre as a neighbour – just a three-minute walk away. Start each morning here in Danish style and enjoy a fresh waffle from the bakery that can be reached within just five minutes on foot before heading out for a day of sightseeing and exploring.

The renowned Nyhavn harbour is just a five-minute walk from your door where you can enjoy the views of colourful seventeenth-century buildings and old ships docked. In the evening, why not sip a cool beer by the docks, dine at one of the many restaurants, or listen to a local jazz band play?

Cross the walking bridge to Christianshavn – an eighteen-minute walk from your door – and wander one of the most vibrant spots in Copenhagen. Explore Hans Christian Anderson’s fairytale Denmark and visit the monument to the writer and the Little Mermaid statue – which are an eighteen-minute and twenty-minute walk away, respectively. Zip-around the neighbourhood on a Segway or take a guided bike tour, and if you’d rather see the city from the waters, then rent a boat and cruise the canals, or relax and let a captain guide you. Whatever you choose to do in Copenhagen, this home is ideally located to see some of the best sights of the city.

Conveniently located in the heart of Copenhagen, footsteps from Nyhavn’s charming waterfront, this apartment is the perfect place to crash after a busy day exploring Denmark’s capital. Bars and restaurants are on the doorstep, so you may want to bring earplugs if you’re hoping for a lie-in. Inside, while there isn’t a huge amount of space for socialising, especially when the sofa bed is in use, the bedrooms are comfortable, and the kitchen is equipped for longer stays. 

A Song of Copenhagen

Tucked back from the hustle and bustle of the ever-popular harbourside hotspot of Nyhavn, this spectacular apartment ranks among our favourites in the city. 

A large open-plan living area is the focal point of any stay here, with a sleek handleless kitchen, a typically stylish mid-century dining table and chairs, plus a comfortable seating area. It's lined with windows along one side, letting in plenty of natural light during the day. When night falls, elegant pendant lights illuminate the space.

Stride out into the picturesque pocket of the city. This 17th-century canal, lined with colourful houses and stunning sailboats, continuously tops lists of Copenhagen's must-see sights, and it's easy to see why. But, while it may attract the tourists, there's no doubt that the locals love it just as much, and you'd be hard-pushed to find a better spot in the city to enjoy a cold beer on a warm summer's afternoon.

To the east, a bridge connects you to the cafes and canals of Christianshavn and the hippie haven of Christiania, where quirky self-built homes line the lake. While to the west lie Copenhagen's pedestrianised shopping streets and the low-key creative cool of Kødbyen, also known as the Meatpacking District, a ten-minute bike ride away.


Transitions in Pink

The Alphabet oozes Copenhagen charm. Not only is it a loved home with personality aplenty, but you’re also so central that you can see beautiful Copenhagen spires and copper-clad roofs from the terrace. We love how this two-bedroom home juxtaposes contemporary Danish design with design classics like the Safari Chair and the PH 80 floor lamp. It’s very clearly a family home, so expect to feel a cosy and caring atmosphere as soon as you walk through the door.  


The Alphabet

Set in an inner courtyard belonging to the iconic Nyhavn Harbour, this design-savvy apartment is right in the thick of things. Part of a grand period building, while the shared entrance is pretty unremarkable, inside this home is a real gem. The living area is light-filled, and two of the elegant bedrooms have inter-connecting doors – handy for family sharing. There's also a single sofa bed in the lounge for teens who'd rather not share. The communal courtyard and playground are a nice touch, too, for when the sun shines down on Denmark's capital.

Harbour Charm

Located in the back building of a courtyard close to vibrant Nyhavn, this unique apartment channels old Copenhagen in a light-hearted way. We love this place – it's quirky, quiet, and crooked (it's in a typical timber-framed building with brick walls and low ceilings). Your host, Mikkel, is a music-lover, so there's an abundance of instruments, sound equipment and a huge record collection, as well as cool design classics by Hans J. Wegner – one of Denmark's most creative furniture designers. We also couldn't take our eyes off the lion foot bathtub, elegantly paired with a surfboard for a playful touch – though the tub is for decoration purposes only. Step out into Copenhagen's charming streets, and you'll find yourself just a few hundred metres from the colourful waterside bars and restaurants of Nyhavn. Stroll a few minutes further and you can browse the boutiques that line pedestrianised Strøget. Finally, head away from the centre, and the world-famous Little Mermaid statue is around twenty minutes' walk away. Alternatively, do as the locals do and cycle around the city to cut your journey times in half.

Polaroid Surfing

On the third floor of a beautiful 1870s building, we find Opera Diva. It has expressive interiors with a mix of Scandinavian chic furniture and antique pieces that are paired with some of the host’s own illustrations. And it also comes with a bathtub, which is something we rarely see in Copenhagen. As as an added bonus, one of the most famous Danish opera singers lives next door – and even though she’s retired, you can still hear her practising her singing now and then.

Opera Diva

Scandinavian through and through, this home is a minimalist haven with brilliant technological features, such as the Philips lighting system. The high ceilings and gabled windows make the living area bright and airy, perfectly matching the modern interior. There’s also a rainfall shower and the whole flat benefits from floor heating, making it the perfect place to come back to after a long day exploring the Danish capital. Best of all, your host is delightful and will make sure you have a great visit. 

Bright Eyed

This large studio-style apartment has a great address in Dronningegården, right behind Kongens Have (The King's Garden). You’ll also find nearby the city’s largest square Kongens Nytorv, home to the Royal Theatre. Housed in a 1950s building, this apartment has a small bedroom area with a king-size bed tucked away behind a half wall. Two more guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living area at full capacity. We should also mention there’s free access to the local gym if you want to keep up your fitness regime while away. This place is ideal for friends or family looking for an excellent location.

Queen of Hearts

Brimming with Scandi charm, this top-floor apartment offers a stylish base in the centre of Copenhagen. Not only are the interiors comfortable and bright, but you also have the luxury of a private balcony with views of neighbouring red rooftops.

In this home, you'll feel a tangible sense of calm among the nude-toned furnishings and smooth textures. Wake up and prepare a coffee and Danish pastry in the sleek high-spec kitchen, then glide outside for a leisurely breakfast in the sun. After a morning of lounging in the homely living space, head downstairs and step straight into the city centre.

The widely photographed Nyhavn harbour, flanked by colourful buildings, is just a five-minute walk away. Enjoy lunch with a view before venturing to nearby Christiansborg Palace, a 12th-century structure that houses the government – you can also peruse its impressive collection of artwork. Indulge in some light shopping in the atmospheric Strøget area, and remember to pick up a bottle of wine to enjoy on your balcony once you wind your way back home.

The White Triangle

Size and style come in equal measure at this Copenhagen apartment. It's perched along the famous shopping mile, and most of the must-see sights are just a stroll away. A great option for a multi-generational family stay, each bedroom is as light-filled as the next, and the living spaces are palatial by inner-city standards. It's worth noting there's only one bathroom here, and four guests will be sharing the last bedroom – fine for family sharing, but it won't suit everyone. Expect street noise from time to time, too – but that's all part and parcel of central Copenhagen living.

Hygge Tales

Located right in the heart of Copenhagen, this eco-friendly apartment hits all the right notes when it comes to ease and simplicity. Outside, it’s a short stroll to Kongens Have and Kongens Nytorv. There are great public transport links and paid parking is available at a location nearby. Minimalists will appreciate the simple details of this apartment. It’s also family-friendly with space across two floors to stretch out and unwind. At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living area but this works nicely for larger groups.

A bohemian atmosphere meets Japanese zen in this striking home. We particularly love all the original features including the wooden beams, exposed brick walls (and even the creaky floors), which mix beautifully with the hosts’ collection of books and vintage furniture. Since the apartment was renovated in 2013, it has been featured in several lifestyle magazines for its charming design aesthetic. Spread across three floors, unique quirks include the rather rustic ladders that take you up to the second and third floors. Curl up in a cosy corner with a book in hand and live the scene of what seems like it could be a fictional dream. Alongside world literature, the host also supplies guests with access to gym equipment, should you wish to keep up with your fitness routine while visiting Copenhagen. Around the apartment, the immediate area feels very local – the Christianshavn canals are just two minutes away, and so are plenty of restaurants. All in all, it's safe to say that this home is perfectly out of the ordinary.

Arigatou

Just a five-minute walk from this apartment will take you to the City Hall Square and the central station. It's the same walking distance to Tivoli Gardens, a magical theme park with a century-old wooden roller coaster, gardens and restaurants. As with the rides at Tivoli, this apartment has some ups and downs – let's start with the good points. There's a shared garden perfect for beers in the summer, and the apartment itself is spacious. To enter the second bedroom, though, you will need to go through the third bedroom. This room doesn't have any windows but borrows light via French doors into the adjacent room, so privacy is also an issue – it’s probably fine for the kids, we would say.

Family Haven

Centrally located and chicly styled, this apartment ticks all of our boxes. You'll be based in lively Indre By, just a short walk from Nyhavn's colourful harbour and Strøget's many shops. But even better than the location is the private roof terrace back home. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a Danish beer and admire the city views. Indoors, the pared-back interiors feature natural elements and lots of light. The kitchen isn't the biggest and there is some adult-themed artwork, but otherwise, it's a cosy option in the heart of the city.

If you're looking for amusement on your city break, how about this home? It's just around the corner from Tivoli Gardens, a theme park with a century-old wooden roller coaster. If you're not after an adrenaline rush, gardens and fantastic restaurants are also nearby. Like the park rides, this apartment has many highs and a few lows. The lift takes you right to the top floor, and we love the characteristic beams. At full capacity, though, there's only one bathroom between eight people – you’d better work out a rota for the mornings.

Situated in the heart of Copenhagen, this apartment provides a perfectly practical space for groups visiting the city. Tivoli Gardens is less than a ten-minute walk away, while nearby Ørstedsparken is a great spot for escaping the city buzz. The master bedroom can be set up with twin single beds upon request and the double sofa bed adds flexibility. Just keep in mind that the second bedroom is partly open to the living area, so it lacks some privacy. Otherwise, the two large bathrooms will help to speed mornings along, so you can head out and spend more time exploring all that the Danish capital has to offer. 

City Explorer

This city-centre apartment is seriously chic – we absolutely loved its minimalist Scandi vibes. The communal area is open and bright, offering plenty of space for all six guests to hang out together. There are thoughtful touches like vintage illustrated posters hanging on the wall above comfortable furniture from New Scandinavian Design maestros, Bolia. The glass-walled bedrooms are definitely a novel touch and create a strong impact. They certainly won't be to everyone's taste, but all have velvet curtains to pull across for some privacy when needed. With views onto Copenhagen's main shopping street, Strøget, you couldn't be better placed to hit the luxury boutiques and independent shops when the mood takes you. Plus, you're not far from the colourful waterside bars and restaurants of Nyhavn or the high culture of the Royal Danish Theatre – a little over a five-minute walk away.
