With three bedrooms, a family or a group of friends will be well looked after in this stylish space in the heart of the city. Although the building you’ll be staying is probably one of the least attractive on the street, you’re in the privileged position of being able to gaze out at San Sebastian’s famous Art Nouveau architecture. The open-plan layout and soft seating invite guests to socialise in the living area before heading out for a day of fun. From your central position you can walk to the beach, the city’s museums and cultural institutions, and outstanding restaurants in just a few minutes. The Old Town, just north of this home, is where you’ll find the largest concentration of Donostia’s infamous pintxos bars. Just make sure you’re hungry because you won’t be able to stop yourself when you see the selection.

In addition to its enviable location, we're willing to overlook the slightly basic interior design thanks to a full-length balcony that is sure to appeal to sun worshippers and lovers of outdoor dining. Down at street level, the nearby San Martin market is ideal for stocking up on seasonal essentials, with a coffee stop and some light retail therapy thrown in for good measure. 

El Balcón

You’ll find this apartment located in the heart of San Sebastian, surrounded by shops, bars, and restaurants, and only a short walk from La Concha Beach. While the understated interiors aren't the most inspiring, the desirable location more than makes up for it. The bedrooms are comfortable (though the second of the two lacks natural light) and the kitchen is well-equipped if you fancy eating in. Having a car isn’t essential here, but if you plan on bringing a vehicle, your host can help you find somewhere to park.

However given that you’ll be visiting one of the culinary capitals of the world, you may prefer to sample the cafes and restaurants more than dining at home. Located in the centre of town, just a two-minute stroll away from the beach, you’ll also be within easy reach of the city’s Old Town with an abundance of authentic pintxos bars and restaurants waiting to be experienced. With so many options available, we recommend bar hopping from one restaurant to the next, sitting in a sunny spot on the terrace as you go. Once you’re full of delicious tapas, you'll be relieved to know it's only a short walk back to the apartment for a blissful night’s sleep.

That being said, we don’t think you’ll need the kitchen too often given that you’re visiting one of the world’s greatest culinary cities. Located just behind the Beach of La Concha, you can easily access all that makes San Sebastian such a popular destination – enjoy relaxing strolls along the beach, sample the Old Town’s traditional pintxos, admire the impressive Art Nouveau architecture or visit neighbouring Playa de la Zurriola for an afternoon of surfing. Though you’ll be able to catch a peekaboo view of the sea from the balcony, we recommend visiting the Belle Époque La Perla Spa and Restaurant for wonderful views, delicious cocktails and a real sense of this city’s history as a spa town.

On a lively street in San Sebastian’s Old Town, this one-bed flat is a short walk from La Concha beach. Recently renovated, the space sports a relaxed Organic Modern style, with soft neutrals, throws and cosy textures. A dove-grey sofa is the ideal spot to curl up for a quick catnap, while rattan lamps and side tables add pops of interest. The bedroom is similarly textural, and enjoys plenty of natural light from the French doors; throw them open for some sea air and to hear the sounds of the city waking up. The kitchen has a stove and coffee maker, making Spanish-style eggs easy. There’s a nearby car park where you can rent a space if necessary.

The finish is sleek and modern, with each bedroom having its own bathroom for added convenience. Factor in the option to arrange paid parking nearby – though a car is anything but necessary here – and it really ticks all the boxes.
