Vibrant Barcelona is also around a half an hour drive away and makes for an excellent day trip. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into ensuring Sunset Hideaway has a sociable vibe. You’ll find large living spaces across two floors, making this a great spot for two groups of families looking for the occasional downtime. We loved the contemporary windows that flood the interiors with natural light, providing a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living. Its stone-walled garden is in keeping with the home’s traditional charm and offers a lovely backdrop to the sunsets over the Pyrenees each night.

Built on similarly sloped terrain, this grand entrance will have you ascending the traditional white and terracotta staircase on its facade. This warm orange brickwork continues around the windows, while balconies and railings wrap around every exposed edge – maximising the opportunities for mountain views. On one of your two large terraces, maybe an evening barbecue is in order, grilling fresh fish alongside classic Catalan pa amb tomàquet.

After the sun goes down, head inside to admire the traditional, homely decor and rustic wooden furniture. Tiled floors throughout will keep your feet cool on balmy evenings, in the same way the lush trees keep your terraces shady in the day. Perfectly positioned on a hillside, a ten-minute drive from the pretty town of Begur, this villa is all about sea views and laidback living. Your days will be spent on your private terrace, soaking up every last drop of the Costa Brava sunshine. Perhaps you’ll settle into a lounger with an ice-cold beverage in hand or maybe you’ll swim gentle laps in the glittering pool. When it’s time to eat, set the table on the balcony ready for a Catalan feast whipped up in the no-frills kitchen and if you’d like a quiet moment with your holiday read, the window seat in the bright living space is an excellent spot. Stretch your legs with a twenty-five-minute walk to Sa Tuna, an idyllic cove with a sandy beach – it was our favourite spot to while away the long afternoons. Head home before dusk with a bottle of Cava and watch the sunset melt into the ocean from your enviable vantage point.

This lovely home in Llafranc is perfect for those looking for absolute rest and relaxation. Boasting countryside views, this home is close to the beach and the bars of the town, while being nicely removed from tourist traps. Llafranc is a quiet part of Spain on the Costa Brava, with a stunning coastline and gorgeous beaches. 

The home is bright and cheerful, with bold splashes of colour that add warmth to the neutral palette. Your eye will most often be drawn outside, through the floor-to-ceiling windows that lead onto the large terrace. Trees surround the home, making it feel nicely secluded despite being part of a resort. 

When you’re not by the shared swimming pool – which is huge and inviting – you’ll likely spend most of your time on the terrace. There are sun loungers so sun-worshippers will be content, and there’s a lovely dining area too. You might like to drive fourteen minutes to beautiful Calella de Palafrugell for lunch by the water, and then spend your evenings grilling up local seafood on the barbecue. 

The clear water and soft sand of Platja El Cau are a seven-minute walk away, so days at the beach couldn’t be easier. To really take in the glorious coastline, walk ten minutes to the viewpoint at Mirador de la Divina Pastora. It’s a wonderful spot for sunset.

Renovated to feel luxurious and modern, this beautiful villa was originally built in the 1940s and it has the patchwork stone facade to show for it. Although imposing from a distance, the interior radiates comfort and homeliness to make your break as cosy as possible, but not without a little dash of pizazz. Wander across three floors to find your favourite spot in this home – we can guarantee for some it will be in the games room where you can pass hours playing billiards, whereas other may take most favourably to the minibar and dancefloor. 

As fun as it is indoors, the outdoor area has even more to offer. Splash in the pool or challenge each other to a game of tennis, but don’t forget to unwind on the sunloungers as you kick back with an ice-cold drink and good book. 

Light the barbecue for lunch and make use of the sprawling terrace to socialise with wine, nibbles and good conversation. For a bit of alone-time, you can take to one of the swing chairs to admire the view, or stretch yourself all the way out on one of the hammocks to have an afternoon nap in the shade of the trees. 

Costa Brava has an arresting Mediterranean coastline and we encourage you to explore it. Start by taking a twenty-five-minute walk to the soft sand of Llafranc beach. When you’re not enjoying alfresco meals at home, you might stroll to find some choice restaurants not even ten minutes away.

While the pool is shared with the owners, it's still a great addition – set in the large garden and surrounded by trees, you'll feel the seclusion here. When you start to miss civilization, though, you're just 15 minutes from La Bisbal d'Empordà, a town with shops and eateries, and close to some of Costa Brava's most beautiful beaches.

Sitting peacefully on the rugged coastline of Palafrugell, this home makes the ideal setting for a rustic Catalonian escape. You’ll be welcomed by beautiful views, a private swimming pool and plenty of outdoor space to sit back and soak it all in. The rooms and furnishings are slightly dated, but it’s a great option for families with one of the twin bedrooms featuring children’s beds, plus your host can also help organise cots and high chairs. You will need a car to get around here, but it’s just 2.2. kilometres to the amenities of Palafrugell, with Platja Fonda beach just a ten-minute drive away.

There is more than enough space for families or large friend groups, thanks to the private pool and separate annexe. Located between the medieval town and golden beach of Pals, you'll want a car here to make the most of your stay. This home's bedrooms and bathrooms are all downstairs, so it might not be suitable for guests with less mobility. But the living room and kitchens on the top floor mean optimal views when dining alfresco or relaxing after a busy day.

Often referred to as 'the pearl of the Costa Brava’, this is the perfect location for a laid-back coastal getaway. This compact apartment is in a convenient location, in the fishing village turned holiday resort of Sa Riera. You’ll be within walking distance of a range of restaurants, shops and supermarkets, and a five minute stroll will take you to a beautiful, sandy beach. Though the apartment isn’t as spacious as some, you’ll have the benefit of a shared infinity pool with views to the sea. And with free, private parking, hiring a car to explore the rest of the Costa Brava is must.

Set just a short walk from the charming village of Tamariu, famed for its pine-backed horseshoe bay and pristine sands, this villa combines seclusion and convenience. We love the open-plan design, which lends the house a natural flow and light and airy feel, but the real selling point is the stunning outside space. After the gentle 500m stroll back from the waterfront or a visit to the nearby medieval village of Begur, cool off with a dip in the private pool or lie back on one of the inviting outdoor loungers, before turning your attention to the barbecue and eating al fresco in the generous outdoor dining area. On cooler evenings, cosy up by the fire and enjoy a film on the living room’s flat-screen TV.

This charming apartment has many highlights, but the obvious one lies in its proximity to the beach. You can walk just ten metres from your resort and you'll reach the golden stretch of Playa de Pals, extending to cover three kilometres of the glistening coastline. Huge and peaceful, you certainly won't struggle for a place to lay your towel. 

If you prefer swimming in the pool than the sea, the resort is home to a large, pristine pool and a cute kids pool by the side. If you're coming with little ones, the adjacent pools make it easy to keep an eye on them whilst they play in the water.

Lush greenery surrounds the pool, which continues in the garden of the apartment complex. Lined with a wooden table and sun beds, it's a dreamy spot to let your mind wander as you listen to the sound of the waves lapping onto the shore. 

You can enjoy the same sense of tranquilly from the privacy of your balcony. Settle down for some tapas and Rioja wine on the dining table, kissed by the sea breeze and warmed by the gentle rays of the sun. If you want a break from the heat, relax at the breakfast bar with a coffee or curl up with a book in the comfy seats.

This Spanish apartment provides a great base for exploring the beaches of Costa Brava – it's just a leisurely stroll from here to Sa Riera Beach, a gorgeous sandy spot where you can enjoy sea swimming or water sports.  Here, you'll enjoy access to the building's shared infinity pool, and enjoy some stellar sea views while you do your morning lengths. The home itself is pretty basic, but features some boho styling that gives it some character – we love the beachy decor and colourful soft furnishings.



Sunday Morning Sunshine

Only a two-minute stroll from the promenade-lined Tamariu Beach, this apartment gives you excellent access to seaside shops and cafes. Fancy making memories? This town offers a variety of boating experiences, or maybe you'll venture inland for a hike along the Font d'en Cruanyes. Though this bright home can accommodate up to four guests, some may find the living space a bit cramped once the sofa bed pulls out. We also think the balcony is better suited as a romantic chill-out spot.

This charming villa in the picturesque fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell is a rare find. Situated in a residential area just 450m from the pretty beach of Platja Canadell, this home is a great spot on the Costa Brava coastline. Though the house feels a little dated in parts, it offers a comfortable space to unwind when the midday Mediterranean sun reaches its peak – then again, there’s the outdoor pool to cool off in too. Make the most of the built-in barbecue and dine alfresco or walk the coastal path to Llafranc for a memorable meal along the seafront.

The countryside around this grand, Catalan mansion looks like a painting with verdant green forests meeting wildflower meadows. The view from the arched windows of the living room, across the green hills to the shimmering Mediterranean Sea, is a reminder that you’re just a ten-minute drive from the coast here. A day at the beach is possible at the secret bays of Cala del Crit and Cala el Golfet, both sandy coves hidden between the cliffs.

But we wouldn’t blame you if you ended up spending all your time at this luxurious, old-world villa instead. Sun terraces and shaded nooks offer sunseekers and wallflowers alike a place to spend the day. The fountain-fed Roman swimming pool invites you for a dip on a hot day and, wandering the expansive grounds, you’ll stumble across a tennis court and games area with ping pong. Outdoor dining is a treat with a huge table for the whole group in front of the summer kitchen and, if you’re hosting a special event, a marquee can be set up on the lawn.

The foundations of this home date back to the 14th century, and inside you can still get a feel for the medieval in the vaulted basement where you’ve got your own private spa. Down here, there’s an indoor swimming pool, steam room and sauna. Various lounges and sitting rooms allow the whole group to spread out and our favourite has to be the Rib-vaulted grand lounge with its Baroque painted ceiling harking back to a bygone era. Perhaps spend the evening taking it back to analogue in the library or snooker room.

Even before entering the house, we fell under the spell of its surroundings – the glistening pool, the stunning views, the huge garden, and the outdoor dining area, inviting you to plan those magical alfresco feasts that go on long into the warm, Spanish nights. You’ll enjoy absolute privacy and tranquillity here, the perfect setting to catch up on your holiday reads and relax in one of the many sun loungers dotted about. 

Come inside and be prepared for a beautiful treat – what the home’s façade promises with its old-world glamour, the interior more than delivers. We love the stone and wood details, the unique art pieces and furnishings, and the cosy, inviting ambience. There is more than enough space to snuggle up and enjoy a movie night or an afternoon of wine and conversation, with an ornamental fireplace to add to that homely feel. 

The bedrooms, situated upstairs, are another highlight: with plush, comfy beds, timelessly stylish furnishings, and beautiful wooden floors, you’re guaranteed a restful sleep. 

Whenever you feel like exploring, there is an abundance of activities to be enjoyed in the area – from cycling and horse riding, to exploring the charming town of Calonge and the stunning beaches of the Costa Brava, just five and ten minutes away by car respectively.

We loved the well-kept garden, peaceful patio and distant views of the Pyrenees – it’s easy to adopt a laidback, Mediterranean lifestyle here.
