With a prime position on the Andalusian coastline, it's actually possible to see the intense azure of the Mediterranean Sea if you step up to this home's rooftop terrace. What's most impressive about this address, however, is that this special view ranks pretty low on the list of perks.

That's to be expected when you have an outdoor space that has everything from a swimming pool, ping-pong table and a traditional stone barbecue for feeding fellow guests once tummies start to rumble. As well as that, there's an alfresco dining table on which you can enjoy the fruits of your labours, as well as a couple of peaceful balconies from which to gaze out at the rooftops of Almuñecar.

There's a lot to like inside as well. The design is fresh and contemporary, with a colour palette of soothing neutrals, no shortage of sleek surfaces and chic mid-century furnishings. You might be surprised to see the sauna given that is Spain rather than Scandinavia, but a quick sweat is an invigorating way to start the day.

And there are plenty of ways to fill the hours afterwards, too. San Cristóbal beach takes ten minutes to reach on foot, while the town's ancient castle and El Majuelo botanical gardens are another quarter of an hour on top of that.

This stunning Andalusian villa is the perfect getaway for a holiday with your loved ones. The interior of the home is very nicely designed, but it’s the exterior we’re most enthusiastic about. With an infinity pool, ping-pong table and several lovely terraces (including a rooftop one) we don’t blame you if you’d like to spend all your time here. If you want the best of both – the beach is a thirty-minute walk away and the beautiful cities of Málaga and Granada are roughly an hour’s drive down the road.

Dreaming Of Andalusia

With its Mediterranean Sea views and private balcony, this apartment is the ideal place to crash between dips in the communal pool and tapas-tasting in the heart of Nerja. The private balcony is equipped with an awning (a welcome addition for when the sun becomes a bit much) and you’re only 200 metres or so from Playa Torrecilla. If you’d like to make your stay that little bit more special, your host provides a bottle of champagne as an optional add-on.

A stroll in the opposite direction will take you to Playa de Burriana, a long stretch of sandy beach known as the area’s top spot for swimming. You'll also find watersports and beach volleyball here if you're looking for ways to keep the kids entertained.

There are two terraces – our favourite is the rooftop one reached via a spiral staircase, which has plenty of room for entertaining. You'll be completely undisturbed here, and although you'll need to hire a car to get around, the nearest beach of Costa Tropical lies just a thirty-minute drive away, with the charming town of Órgiva 3.5 kilometres from the house. Inside, the decor is a little dated, but we reckon most of your time will be spent outside, exploring the area or lounging by the fenced private pool. There's also a dining terrace equipped with a barbecue, so you can enjoy alfresco suppers long into the endless summer evenings.
