Keen to be in the hustle and bustle? This apartment, just a ten-minute stroll from Gran Vía, may be a great choice. It's easy to get to all the landmarks on foot or by metro, and there are a lot of bars and restaurants nearby. Unsurprisingly it can get a tad noisy – but that's part of the city experience. We love the bright living area, and the two snug bedrooms channel Spanish sunshine with their yellow paint. Size-wise, it's rather compact but still comfortable – just note that it's on the second floor and lacks a lift.

The kitchen is well-appointed for rustling up light bites, while three bedrooms offer respite after a long day on your feet. If you're looking for a laid-back stay, this pad is a great choice.

With a fantastic address, just off the Paseo de la Castellana, this apartment has a wealth of attractions nearby. The upmarket districts of Salamanca, Chamberi and Justicia are all close, so you'll have plenty of fine restaurants, chic boutiques and art galleries to enjoy. With one of Madrid's main avenues on your doorstep, the slight downside is you will hear some street noise here, but it's easily fixed with some earplugs if you're a light sleeper. We have to say, we love the views over Plaza Villa de París from this home. The kitchen is well-equipped, so you can cook some homemade meals or let your host arrange a private chef to create some of your favourite tapas dishes.

With a big and luminous living room that transforms into a home cinema, Lovefield is a great stay for those who like to strike a balance between spending their time sightseeing and relaxing at home. The neighbouring streets of Chueca are filled with great bars and restaurants, but they're also well-connected to the city centre. One of the bedrooms in Lovefield doesn't have a window, but otherwise, the design is well-thought-through and coherent.

Located in the charming neighbourhood of Chamberí, this apartment is perfect for a cosy city getaway. Relax on the terrace with your morning cup of coffee while watching the world go by below. With this apartment you get the best of both worlds – it’s situated between the traditional Chamberí district and the vibrant Malasaña neighbourhood. The Centro de Cultura Contemporánea Condeduque is a short stroll away, as is the Liria Palace. There’s a wide array of eateries within walking distance as well, offering cuisines from Spanish to Japanese and Persian. We love the large open-plan living space at this home – this room also sleeps guests three and four on a sofa bed. There’s a desk here too for when you need to work while staying in Spain’s capital city.

When you see as many flats as we do, you learn very quickly to tell which homes have been done up for convenience, and which are a labour of love. Toquilla clearly falls into the latter category. It’s been designed as a whole, with thought and attention put into the schemes, as well as the materials. We particularly liked the concrete pillars and the glass walls, neither of which are especially common in Madrid. The only real complaint we have is the fake plants – They’re understandable for the convenience, but really, most places would be better off without anything.

Perfect for business travellers, this apartment boasts two desks for all your work-from-home needs. There's also a well-equipped kitchen, a cosy lounge, and a duo of comfortable bedrooms. One is a little more snug than the other, but we think this pad will be a stylish and practical option for a city getaway. Location-wise, this is a great starting point for exploring Madrid. Chamberí has a more local feel than other neighbourhoods, so you'll experience authentic Madrid. Plus, you're only a short metro ride from landmarks like Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor.

We love this apartment’s spacious roof terrace with its views over the city. It has two seating areas, while inside there are two living spaces as well (one has low ceilings, so be prepared to duck if you’re tall). This home is located in the heart of Malasaña, a district known for its history, vintage shops and cool cafés. Explore Plaza del 2 de Mayo with its weekend market stalls or immerse yourself in the exhibits in the Conde Duque Contemporary Culture Center nearby.

Your stylistic Justicia apartment is a reflection of your neighbourhood’s artistic energy, with Jaume Plensa’s “Julia” and dEmo’s “Lucky Frog” statues peeping around the corner on La Castellana. Not only is this apartment’s location second to none, but its vibrant atmosphere is sure to charm you.

Calle Almagro is probably one of the most iconic streets in Chamberí. Historically, the elites have fled central Madrid in hopes of finding a quieter vibe in this neighbourhood, leading to low-key chic architecture, great restaurants, and bars. Mucha's Jungle has an atypical interior design that reminded us of a Soho townhouse. The wooden floor is a piece of art on its own, and there are lots of beautiful design details dotted around. In spite of the fact that it looks a lot bigger, this is a small attic home, which is perfect for all who thrive in pretty, cosy spots.

Just a short distance from Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol, this apartment drops you in the heart of the action. Sure, it’s fuss-free in design and some of the spaces are a little cosy, but you’ll find everything needed for a comfortable stay here. And for us, location is key. Some of the iconic hotspots in the local area include the Royal Palace of Madrid and the Almudena Cathedral. Ready to venture further afield? Hop on the nearby metro to explore the city with ease.

Art lovers – this one’s for you. Nestled in the heart of Almagro, you’ll find an abundance of galleries and museums nearby, perfect for whiling away a few culture-filled hours. The apartment itself is ideal whether you’re in the city for business or pleasure. The Narcisse is only a few minutes away from Calle Fuencarral, one of our favourite shopping streets in Madrid. To say that it's centrally located is an understatement, especially since this home is practically surrounded by Malasaña's finest quirky cafes and restaurants. Narcisse is an ambitious home – the golden details are risky but well-balanced with calmer tones, and the layout is (rightfully) focused on maximising the natural light, which mostly comes from the French doors. But in the end, this home won us over with the urban view.

Situated on Calle Cristóbal Bordiu, this apartment is a short stroll from the Parque de Santander and the Geological Museum. The Azca business district and Madrid’s Nuevos Ministerios, home to many government departments, are also within walking distance. As you’d expect there are a variety of restaurants and bars to discover in the vicinity too. Or you can enjoy a drink on this home’s private balcony, as well as in the comfy living room. We love the main bedroom suite with its study, seating area and walk-in wardrobe – this room, along with the living room, has air conditioning. This place will suit business travellers, friends or families looking for a well-connected location.

Inside, a neutral, calming colour palette meets rattan decor to keeps things cosy, while the open-plan living space and private terrace creates a bright and airy place to hang out with guests. 

Days begin with an espresso out on the terrace, overlooking the bustling neighbourhood square, before treating yourself to an indulgent bubble bath in the jacuzzi. After a relaxing start, gather the group around the L-shaped bench-style breakfast nook or flop down in the stylish living area and map out the day's tourist itinerary. This home puts Chamberí's diverse bars and shops on your doorstep. Moments from the Paseo de la Castellana, you'll have excellent public transport links too. While we love the bright interior, it may be a better pick for light packers, as there isn't a lot of space in the bedrooms for storage. It's a shame the dining area doesn't seat six, though the kitchen offers another table for two. How about sunset-watching on the balcony after a day spent exploring Madrid?

This bright, bohemian apartment is an excellent home from home in Madrid. It’s ideally suited to families, tucked away in a residential area but still in a prime central location. 

The apartment is an instant mood-lifter, with bright colours at every angle. A floor-to-ceiling patio window brings light into the living space, and is the perfect place to sip your morning coffee. There are quirky touches galore, and rustic elements like terracotta floors and the exposed brick behind the piano add depth. Residential Chamberí might not be smack in the middle of Madrid's theatre scene, but if you're in town to relax and see it on your own terms, then you'll appreciate the quieter neighbourhood. Paquelin is a comfortable home in the heart of it, immaculate and simple. With only a few art prints on the walls (which we thoroughly enjoyed) and generally inobtrusive furniture, it's the kind of home that will best suit an adventurous family who will make it their own. The kitchen is on the smaller side, but it's still well equipped and bright.

Settle into the Spanish lifestyle with a stay at this fantastic apartment in the vibrant Malasaña district. With plenty of room for a family or group of friends, you can kick back and relax between adventures, making the most of this beautifully designed space. 

The living area is a haven of calm away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's cloaked in soft pastel tones, and has plenty of comfortable seating where you can curl up with a glass of Rioja at the end of a long day. There are dedicated desks for remote workers and the cosy living room has a sound system and Smart TV – making it easy to switch off after a day of exploring. Two of the bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms and the single bedroom is a great option for kids. It’s worth noting there is no private parking, but you will find it’s just a short walk to the nearest shops, bars and restaurants.

There’s a cool serenity to this home in Madrid’s lively Chueca neighbourhood with its blue and white living space and bohemian, Japanese-inspired decor. Mellow out on the sofa while listening to a vinyl record or catch up on work at the long desk in the forest green second bedroom. Carefully curated design details – like the master bedroom’s half-moon headboard – give the space a modern feel while the wicker and wood accents lend a peaceful feeling of nature to the proceedings. Our favourite spot, however, is the private balcony with its views over the city’s rooftops. Sit here with your morning coffee while catching some Spanish rays or take in breathtaking sunset views over a glass of Spanish wine. Outside of your home, your Chueca locale is packed with cosy sidewalk cafes, tapas bars, restaurants and a vibrant bar scene, as well as boutiques, and popular markets like San Antón (a ten-minute walk) and Plaza del Dos de Mayo (a four-minute walk). Elsewhere there’s plenty of retail therapy to enjoy along Gran Vía (a fifteen-minute walk) and both the Royal Palace of Madrid and El Retiro Park are walkable in twenty-four minutes.
